@Steve Kovaleski those three(00-02)years were truly great teams to watch. I actually thought the '01 team was better than the '02 that went to the SB, but both were absolutely brilliant. Now, I'm not NOT a Raiders fan, but I don't follow them as much since the move to LV. I'll still root them on if I see em on tv, but it's just not the same.
The Raiders now have the one thing that eluded them the previous season: a playoff bye. More importantly, they now have home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
In some years, the conference records aren't that strong because of how competitive a lot of teams are. And in 2002, the teams with the best records in the NFC only finished with 12-4 records.
Two 11-5 teams didn’t qualify back in the 5 and 6 team playoff format. Under the 7 team format an 11-5 team barely qualified in 2020 Several times 10-6 teams won enough games to get a first round bye. The 88 49ers and 06 saints rested their starters in week 17 because they had already clinched the bye. Sometimes week 17 is academic
Zack Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier
Trent Green looked like his 2001 self in this game
Was at that game. Was soaked to the bone the whole time, but I couldn't have cared less, it was a brilliant game.

Gannon (season MVP) barely even had to throw the ball that game.
I miss the 2000s they were great times.
Raiders' last home win against the Chiefs until 2010.
So after a mid season struggle and a setback in Miami, Raiders still claim home field advantage in the AFC.
Gannon should have played as mahomes on Madden to break the record.
Blows my mind that an 11-5 team would have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, remember that one year an 11-5 team missed the playoffs?
Denver was 11-5 in 1989 and had home field advantage. Of course that ended tragically with the super bowl massacre against San Francisco.

@@pomerlain8924the NFC was the stronger conference that season!
Announcers: Dick Enberg and Dan Dierdorf
Have a Holly Doug Jolley Christmas!
Doug Jolley FROM...... BYU
The Chiefs could’ve used Priest Holmes in this game. That would’ve helped them a lot
MVP MVP MVP
Water Water everywhere in Oakland.
All the droughts we experienced these past two decades crazy to see oakland so wet
Real football weather in this game unlike today's NFL
Early 00s NFL is very nostalgic to me and I prefer it over today's but I don't like football in the elements. Id prefer 72 in a dome
As for the Chiefs...... without Priest Holmes, what did you REALLY expect from KC in the mud?
Looking at the Raiders offensive stats, they might as well have played 1950s football!
1:08 What a clean pocket that was!
I remember chiefs needed to win and get help but without Holmes they had no threat of a running game and they lost a tough one.
The Raiders may have thrown the ball a lot but they knew how to adapt to bad weather, hence the reason Gannon threw less than usual
