They had been following Jimi around on his gigs in England and they were determined not to go on after him, for nobody's going to top his performance (as happened to the disappointing performance by (was it the Mamas & Papas?) who followed his act in that show).

    Jimi was "discovered" in a U.S. club by Chad Chandler of the 60s band The Animals (House of the Rising Sun is a great track BTW). Chad brought Jimi over to London and put the band together with two UK musicians.

      It is strange that Jimi was never known in the U.S. until he went to England where there were known guitarists (Like Clapton, Townsend etc). It is strange to think isn't it that initially Jimi was very shy and thought that he did not have a good singing voice. Beautiful isn't it? Deep and earthy. What is going on? Jimi is playing the guitar with his teeth! He would tongue the strings sometimes too. When he did his first gig in UK with Cream he actually squat down 'humping' the guitar on stage in his lap. Ha, ha! Ginger Baker did not know what the heck was going on. Clapton stood with his mouth open. I know, I was there! He's arrived!! Jimi could play guitar over his head, between his legs, and behind his back too effortlessly. If that was not strange enough, Jimi's guitar was a right hand strat turned upside down and strung to play left handed, but that meant the strings were then reversed too. How weird is that? Not many people know, but Jimi could play right handed too, but preferred left handed playing. Just feel that musical vibe. You can feel how good the music is. It was special. Mitch on drums and Noel on bass too were both superb artists in support of Jimi. When Jimi died I wept, yes, wept. Jimi was the most unique, talented, and gifted musical artist of a generation. He was light years ahead of everyone, and nobody could touch him musically. I will never see his like in my life again. All we have now is what he left us. He even said, 'When I die, just keep playing the records.' Yes, he had already had premonitions that he would die. He left us aged 27 in 1970, and joined the 27 club (Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse all died aged 27). The loss is completely immeasurable. Had Jimi lived, with modern advances in guitars and sound electronics he would have made music that would have been out of this world. I miss him tremendously. So cool, mellow, and laid back, off stage he was really shy and retiring, but on stage with a guitar in hand a force to be reckoned with.
    Your next stop? Jimi Hendrix, Johnny B Goode, Berkeley. Ever seen an express train at full speed fused with the song Johnny B Goode on guitar? Well get ready lady, you are in for a treat. Chuck Berry, the original song writer, said that Jimi quote, 'Played the absolute crap out of the song.' You'll see why he said that. Jimi kicks off saying, 'Let's do some loose jamming with Johnny B Goode.' Loose jamming? After that a lot happens! Also try The Wind Cries Mary (Stockholm) on You Tube (in black and white). Mary is Kathleen Mary Etchingham, Jimi's first UK girlfriend (the queen in the song). And the song? About Jimi's feelings in the early morning after a bust up with Kathy that resulted in her walking out of the flat they were sharing. It's real deep. There is a lot of Jimi (the king in the song) in that one. Also try Jimi Hendrix, Lulu Show, Full Version. Know the Cream song Sunshine of Your Love? Jimi makes the guitar talk the words! There is something else very special about that one too towards the end, but I will not spoil it for you, other than to say it just shows how good these guys were. Jimi snubbed Lulu who was not allowed to do her customary sing along (Jimi had other ideas), and over ran the time slot. That resulted in him never being invited onto the Lulu Show again. Jimi is GUITAR GOD!!!! Jimi is the real deal. SRV, Prince, and others are disciples only replicating what Jimi did years before them. Unique, talented, gifted, innovative, creative genius. Left long before his time.

    Jimi was the best, maybe Alip fingers can reach Jimi's level on guitar soon, but Jimi was the total package. An entertainer. Bar none, everyone has been copying Jimi, only copies, and still not as good as the original.

    Not for nothing, but if you would take notice, Jimmy Hendrix is LEFT HANDED, yet, he plays with a right handed guitar. He just learned to play with upside down....just saying!

      @guitarman8462 2 года назад

      Wrong. If you look carefully at all his performances , yes he does play a right hand guitar upside down. But he has it strung like an ordinary guitar with the low E at the top and the high E at the bottom.

    , come on man, why are all these black people on RUclips all of a sudden just waking up to Jimi, or is it something like the blacks are trying to claim him as their own when for at least 50 years they ignored him??? I am very sceptical that blacks really enjoy what Jimi did!!!!

    Unfortunately the Hendrix material available on youtube is not the best quality. The Hendrix estate is all over it.
