Can HVA and VMA levels continue to rise and fall after neuroblastoma tumor removal/adrenalectomy? My granddaughter was diagnosed w/ neuroblastoma in utero and at 11 weeks had her tumor & adrenal removed. It had also metastasized to the liver (4s) at that time. She is now 16 weeks old and they are monitoring her urine levels and will scan her every 3 mo. Her urine levels had risen to above what they were before the tumor removal. Her oncologist says they'll follow trends, not just one time tests....but I'm nervous because it was very aggressive. At birth the tumor measured 0.8 cm and when removed at 11 weeks, it was the size of a plum. Oncologist says in young infants the liver spots could dissipate as there's no longer a large neuroblastoma to 'feed off of.' Is that true?
