Also try Kashmir celebration day in 2008 at the O2 in London. 20 million people subscribed for 20.000 tickets
Yes, that was the version they should’ve done
Love that version as well as this one!
I think even though they are old men, the 2008 version is a better live version.
Agreed
A friend of a friend knows one of the sound system tech guys at that O2 Arena show in 2007. He said it was so loud during Kashmir that the seats were vibrating.
Celebration Day with John Bonham's son on drums is a must see as well .They were all spectacular including Robert Plant!
Keep in mind, this is 1979 - there is no auto-tune, no digital tools or backing tracks, it's 100% analog, just 4 incredible musicians playing one the greatest songs ever written. Pure talent, raw emotion, all the imperfection that is part of human beings playing live music. It's remarkable.
100%
I think Jimmy was still going through his drug phase during this time ...
He definitely was. You can see how thin he is at this show, due to his heroin use.
@@nicknitro4420yes more then likely the peak of his heroine addiction, he didn’t get clean & sober until sometime in the 80’s.
There were some audio tricks, like multi tracking that allowed singers to sing background and lead at the same time or allowed John Paul to play base while playing keyboard.
Celebration day in 2008 at the O2 in London. They get better with age... first time on stage with the three original members in over 20 years .. Kashmir Rocks!
And if you couldn't have John Bonham on the drums, his son Jason Bonham is as close to the original as you can get.

@@davidahart2113 💯%! The legacy, plus the chops made it special and authentic.
It's missing John's drumming.
Oh wait until you hear the quality of the performance from Live Celebration Day. All while realizing that they are in their 60's and sounding better than ever. They are ALL amazing, but Robert Plants' voice......holy shit!
It's missing John's drums. That's why they broke up.
Now do the live version from Celebration Day Concert when they are about 70 years old. You'll be shocked. It was their first and last concert together 30 years after the death of their drummer.
This is a masterpiece! Watch the whole group perform magic live on stage. R.I.P. John "Bonzo" Bonham.
I was there aged 22 unbelievable concert ❤
Remember that not only is JPJ playing the keys he is also playing the bass line using a set of pedals under the keyboards. Watch the floor carefully if you revisit this later.
Live from Celebration Day - 2007 featuring Jason Bohnam will blow your minds!!!
I'm so happy you both enjoyed this.. I've told you this is my favorite Led Zeppelin song off my favorite Album. Thank you for you're channel I'm having fun.. I need to request more. I have seen so many bands in my lifetime I just want to share it with everyone. I can't decide which to request next. Thank you ❤❤
It was awesome! Glad we got to experience with you Steven!
Thanks Steven for requesting this. As one Steve to another (although I am a Stephen), a 🎩 tip.
This is why Led Zeppelin is a legendary band. They take a perfect studio album and make it even better live. Not a single fan walked out wishing they had not spent the money for THOSE tickets.
YES TES YES PLEASE! 2007. celebration Day !
@@helenespaulding7562 Oh yeah 👍
Well, you know you’re now going to have to check out their final performance ever of the song at their one and only full length reunion show in 2007 at the O2 Arena, which I was privileged to be at! Many years later and many years older and Jason Bonham filling in for his dad on drums. You will love this performance and you won’t be disappointed! Released in 2012 on the celebration day DVD here is a link:

You know it Ed Zeppelin! Some older stuff to tackle first of course 😉 . Thanks for another contribution, much appreciated! And for providing a link!
Achilles Last Stand from this concert is absolutely mind blowing!
It makes me smile that Jimmy is playing a $50 Danelectro guitar live.
Achilles Last Stand at this concert is mind blowing too, Page definitely makes up for the 12 guitar overdubs on the studio. One concert is better then the other, of ALS, I can’t remember which one though.
Gotta love JPJ. Playing keyboards with hands, and bass with feet. Genius!
90 plus percent of Music Lovers especially back in the 60, 70, and early 80;s would never prefer the studio version if they could go to a live show. Live shows back then were tops.
That's right.. I've seen around 200 concerts. It was always exceptional to see them Live.
Sure, if I could be at the concert, I would prefer that. given a choice between just listening to a live version or the studio, I would definitely choose the studio
@@michaellynch9550 I agree unless the live version can be viewed on some mode that can produce both Audio and Visual such as music Videos.
Yep. If you couldn't perform live, you weren't going far back then.
3 hrs of Zeppelin in 72 at the LA Forum 🤪
This is why we "old folks" have trouble with people thinking a lot of contemporary music is "worthy ".
We had SO much true talent, real musicians, amazing real vocals. No one adding voice correction, no fake prerecorded music...just pure pure talent.
We were truly blessed and spoiled!
Just saw Plant live a few weeks ago. Not my dream LZ live, but he is still one amazingly talented man.
It was breathtaking to watch a legend!!!!!!
Yeah, no loser musicians from Philly. Only the blues greats from Philly are worth listening to.

To me LED Zeppelin is one of the most versatile bands I've ever heard ❤
Knebworth, over a hundred thousand in the crowd and the worlds leading band on stage - and then above all this magic song. Not much could match that.
Great reaction you two. Thanks for your insights. As a 67 year-old, I am convinced that reaction channels are exposing millions to the music of my youth. It was a special time.
Absolutely. So glad I got to see them at Knebworth in 1979 nearly a 3hr set too! Sad that I can't remember most of it....old age dims memories :( but thanks to the wonders of modern technology I can now relive it
How fortunate am I to have lived through this time period, witnessing this music as it emerged and evolved 🙂
@@jenspetersimonsen4235 Absolutely 👍
Proud to say it was my generation too!
Check out Achilles Last Stand from the same concert .. It's absolutely mind bending
Ridiculous
Regarding Plants voice: Plants voice was at its most rough on Physical Graffiti 1975. Most raw and gravelly. He was having allot of vocal issues. This is 1979 and was Zeppelins first concert in two years, with the band being on sabbatical after the death of Roberts son. His voice, for a horrible reason, had time to recover. If you notice a change in his demeanor from live clips of 1975-77, it is because of that tragedy. The whole “rock god” thing had paled for him and he is more subdued. He was also nervous, believe it or not. Huge crowd…..over 100,000 and he hadn’t sung in two years. You couldn’t tell that by his voice. It’s in great form here.
The 2007 O2 concert, imo, is even better. You should watch it, even if on your own time.
You should check out the 2007 live “Celebration Day” version they did .
They hadn’t played together since John Bonham died in 1980. They played a one off concert after 27 years in 2007 with John’s son Jason on drums.
There were 20 million applications for tickets for this concert, which they named “Celebration Day”
They were in their 60’s and they killed it !
Kashmir was amazing, Plant hit all the high notes like he was still 25 !! Check it out
I was at that concert, it was great
So was I. Absolutely.
Me too 😁
There is a 2002 version with Jason Bonham ( son of John ) on drums, Kashmir Celebration days concert. Also an excellent version.
I think celebration day was better. Jason did great and they weren’t on drugs. Robert sounded better too

@@danielleipold7671not, this is the GOAT
2007. Typo?
@danielleipold7671
Its missing John's drums. Jason is nowhere near his dad.
They are our rock gods from back in the day!
And alwsys tight and right on time!!!
What an experience! Thanks. Im so happy you did this live performance. It's my favorite!
Those drums! ♥
Saw them 5 times. They were incredible. Our generation was so lucky. Plus tickets cost about 15 dollars. Saw so many of these groups. I was truly blessed.😊✌️🌻🌻❤
$15
Saw them 176 times live from '70 to '77. Highest I paid was $10.50 in '75. Avg. price was $6.50. And that was 5th row seats center.

I saw them live in 75 Mindblowing!!!!
@@pamelarex1877 Also in 71,73 and at Knebworth! Where did you see them in 75?
I saw them in Indianapolis.....

Please listen to the 2007 live version! Robert Plants voice is timeless. Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones play like the iconic and top 5 players of all time of their instruments, and Jason Bohnam represents his father’s prowess incredibly.
Yes please the version from Celebration Day 2012 is awesome !!!
Epic! One of the greatest Led Zeppelin performances, and one of the greatest performances I ever saw. This is my favorite version of this song, but I would still love to watch your reaction to their O2 version. Great job on this one.
A great Zeppelin song for sure. I always heard that Page and Bonham fed from each other and the bass, keyboards and vocals fell in sync. They will always be my favorite band.
Oooh yeah yeah, let me take you there, ...let me take you there. GOAT... Thanks for sharing.
Plat and Page always considered Kashmir to be their masterpiece rather than Stairway.
I'm pretty sure Robert doesn't like stairway
The page plant version wit the Egyptian band is better than this
In the early 1980s there was a show on BBC radio called the Friday Rock Show hosted by Tommy Vance. He asked everyone to let him know what is the best Led Zep track if you don't include Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir was the outstanding winner. I agree with mgman6000, the version with the Egyptian Orchestra is worth a listen as well.
@@jonathanbouthillette753 They got bored of it. They wanted to do other things and felt Stairway was over shadowing the rest of their work.
I saw Robert Plant and SRV together and it was the first time Robert had rights to perform Zeppelin songs as a solo artist and he didn't disappoint with 5 Zeppelin track's it was fire. And we wondered how it would work without Jimmy but Robert found an 18 phenom on the guitar and he killed it. SRV was incredible too. Blew my mind 🤯😂 Great reaction as usual my friend's and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
I was at this concert knebworth 1979 fantastic led y
Thanks for more Led Zeppelin
My favorite band since 69 ❤❤
I never get tired of listening to this classic, it's 🔥 every time.
I love watching your reaction to this, what a voice he has and what a job the whole band does .Thanks for doing this live version . ❤❤
Bonham is unreal during the final few minutes. When I first saw the footage years ago I thought it had been speeded up! Incidentally, I was actually there. 4th August 1979. Just awesome.
The best drummer ever! RIP John Bonham..
Jason Bonham did his dad and group proud as fill in for celebration . This song is my favorite of theirs over all . Thank you
This whole concert is unbelievable!! Especially Achillies Last Stand!
One of my Favs🎉 it’s difficult to choose just one😊
This is my ringtone. The live version when Page and Plant toured in the 90’s is really good to.
Middle Est sound and progression came from JP Jones on the keyboard during the two bridges..... very beautiful harmonies. These four men produced one of the most beautiful rock piece of music. ❤❤
Robert by far is the best front man of any band, he was second to none! Mick and Roger Daltrey couldn't hold his slippers.
You should also check out the reunion they did in 2008 or whatever it was. I'm not exactly sure on the year. But John Bonham the drummer's son. Played the drums for them for that show. And the sound quality is much better. Because it is a more technology advanced recording to begin with. Take care and be well.
Great as this is, gotta do celebration day.
the big difference , I think, is the layering of guitars on the original. They do a great job making you forget that fuller sound in the live performance. The live version doesn't have all the details , but it has a lot more passion. both versions are fairly awesome. Thanks B&B!
now you must watch kashmir live from celebration day
they are old but keep fire
If you like this version, then you are missing out if you don't look at the version live at celebration day with John Bohnams son at the drums.
Gotta see Celebration Day. Jason does his Dad proud on the drums.
John was playing a state of the art Yamaha GX 1 synth which was effectively 4 synthesizers in one - bass was played on the built in pedals. Only 13 were known to exist outside of Japan as they were made as test beds for future production model synths. It cost more than a house at the time to buy one and John later sold this one to Keith Emmerson!
First time I saw them was January 24 1975. "Physical Graffiti" was going to be released in February. They did play "Kashmir" so I heard it live before it came out. Another great song they did from that album was "Trampled Underfoot". You should check it out.
Now you have to see newest version live from celebration day . With late drummer John’s son on drums . And there almost 70 years old. It’s mind boggling how great they still are.
Led Zeppelin are the one of the GOATS in rock music! John Bonzo Bonham in "Moby Dick" is for me one of the best performances on drums in history of rock music! I strongly recommend you to react on this! There are many live performances where Bonzo's "makin' love" with 🥁 for 10, 15, and more minutes! Anyway, i am from Serbia 🇷🇸, and i love your reaction! 💓💓💓
Zeppelin always sounded great live most times better!! Watch the live video of 2007, when they were up their in age and sooo awesome still! With Jason Bonham playing drums in his father’s place!! They are the gods of rock!!❤️❤️❤️❤️RIP John Bonham!
Led Zeppelin’s (UK) one-off reunion show at London’s O2 Arena on 10 December 2007 attracted more than 20 million ticket requests. Such was the demand for the 9,000 pairs of tickets that were made available to the public that they were reported to be selling for up to £1,800 ($3,654) on eBay - more than 14 times their original price of £125 ($253). The two-hour concert, the legendary rock band’s first full show since 1979,
Now you need to watch the third of the trilogy .. Kashmir from celebration day . With bonzos son playing the drums .. simply amazing as well .. they are older and were still great
Great reaction to a masterpiece performed live. And yeah, maybe even better than the studio version.
And also: yes, to JPJ’s keyboard work here. IMHO, he was the MVP of LZ. He added so much with his bass playing, arrangements, keys, musical knowledge, etc. And while “there’s no denyin’” the sheer iconic nature of “Stairway to Heaven”, I think that Plant and Page were correct: *this* was their greatest masterpiece. Thanks for covering this.
Wow! This took me back a bit! The only time I was lucky enough to get to Knebworth was 1979 to see Zeppelin! Got on the train the day before with just a rolled up blanket to sleep under! Those were the days.
Just one word, GOAT!
If I remember correctly, they played this live in 2007 in London. The last time they ever played together (with John Bonham's son Jason on drums)
You should check out that one which is 28 years later from this live performance in 1979.
Jonesy hitting bass pedals while playing the synthesizer......Jonesy was definitely Zeppelin's Swiss Army Knife.
Led Zeppelin was always better live than in the studio. There shows were amazing.
Plant especially was nervous about preforming there at Knebworth, it was their first concert after his sons death. The band didn’t preform for 2 years, their manager Grant wanted a big venue, rather then a big tour. They played August 4th & 11th (1979) there, it’s believed there were 200,000 people there. Yes a few other bands played too, but Led Zeppelin was the main band, & still played about 3 to 4 hours. I watched the concert on RUclips & it was absolutely amazing, I’m not sure if you still can or not. Plant talks to the audience about being nervous, & he does some joking around too.even if Page did any remastering these concerts, he has said he didn’t need to do much to any of their music. JPJ once said even if we were bad, we were better then the majority, & if we were really good we mopped the floor with them. No truer words were ever spoken. They always leave their hearts souls & passion on the floor. Thank you for your reaction.
Hey Ronnie! 👋. You’re obviously as big a fan as I am and have done your reading and watching of interviews. 😁
@@helenespaulding7562 yes I am & yes I have, I think I need to brush up on interviews, I think I’ve forgotten some things. I’m sometimes a little off on things.
@@sicotshit7068 Light and Shade, a book based on years of interviews with Page and others is a really fun read for Zep and Page fans. If you haven’t yet come across it. Oddly enough, a couple of days ago I ,is tended to several excellent interviews of Plant…..something I haven’t done in several years.
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 thank you.
Gives me flashbacks to my first concert. 1973 Tampa. I was 13. No adult supervision. Capt.Bob, SV ( Sailing Vessel) 27th Chance, Tampa Fl, USA 🇺🇸
Like everyone's saying, you should listen to the live at O2 farewell concert version too. The engineering and mix is very good, with a huge bottom end that fits the epic mood of the song. It's also fun to see them doing a great job when they're old, and Jason Bonham in his dad's chair, killing it on one of the few songs his dad got co-writing credit on.
Top 10, maybe top 5 Zeppelin song. Sooo many great ones!! Now you must do the Celebration Day Live version. They are much older and Jason Bonham on drums. 🔥
Jones was playing the bass with the peddles of the keyboard WHILE playing rhythm on the keys!
This was great! Def my fav version of this song! Love that shotgun start at the intro.
YES! You should ABSOLUTELY do the live version from December 2007 (not 2008) @ The O2 Arena!! It's considered by many (including me) to be the standout track of the night! 👌👌👌👌👌❤️
I just knew you two would love this song.
How can anyone not, eh?
The bands in the early days were good musicians who played about as well in the studio as live. We preferred to see them live because then you'd see them respond to the crowd's energy. You'd go see a band in several cities and see several different concerts because of the audience inspiration.
I was a 17 year old who was new to the pleasures of THC watching the 1973 Houses of the Holy tour at the Forum in Inglewood. Watching this along with other great songs Jimi Page playing a 20 minute or so guitar solo with a violin bow during Dazed And Confused shook me (pun intended). Thereby solidifying some my life choices. 50+ years later it's in my CD collection & my Pandora account. Read between the lines to find some other great Zeppelin suggestions.
You guys are so young. I love your reactions.
Fantastic live performance! Loved it❣️🔥
I was there , unbelievable
One of the best concerts I ever saw.
2007. A one time reunion performance, 28 years later. In their 60’s and these 4…with Jason Bonham…(John Bonham’s son) blew away the audience, and they never lost a beat. Do yourself a favour and listen to it. It’s live and may be their best live performance ever!
Mr. Bonham on drums is always a treat.......those poor drums must shake in fear every time he would sit behind them, knowing they are about to get beaten to death.
Now try the 2008 live version with the drummers son in his place....its stunning
2007
Jason is great, but he's not his dad. He just isn't. John owns this song.
@@lyndoncmp5751 absolutely. Jason is in the top-tier of rock drummers these days, playing with other top rock artists. He’s damn good. His father however was a phenomenon. Superb. So sad that he succumbed to his demons.
You should also listen to the Reunion show version with John Bonham's son, Jason, playing the drums. It really proved they still had it in 2008.
Please try this live at celebration day…John Bonham son, Jason steps in for his dad and nails it!!! They are in their 60’s and sound as good if not better. 20,000 tickets and 20,000,000 requests for tickets. They had to hold a lottery…I didn’t win🇨🇦🖖🏻
Song was actually written about a trip they took to Morocco 🇲🇦… That just thought Kashmir sounded cool .. 😀
YES YES YES PLEASE 2007 London O2. Kashmir!
Has to be on my top 10 rock songs all time even the celebration day version when they're older is also a great version
I had the great pleasure to be at this concert in 1979, the sound was fantastic and the performance was stunning ......Zeppelin could be heard up to ten miles away , and they held the concert on two weekends as the ticket sales were a staggering 500,000 ........hence two concerts to cope with the demand.......
@barsandbarbells2022 Kasmir Celebration Day has to be next. You will love it. IT WILL BE YOUR FAVORITE VERSION💯. They sound Quality is amazing and Roberts vocals are 🔥. Video quality is great as well💯
Jpj doing bass with his feet. Amazing.
