I just watched one of your older videos of you saying you try to reply all the comments and I was like there is no way he still do it now and here we are, great job my man
Thanks dude!
Sucks for you that you actually lift. I only need one set of each weight to max out.
spoiler alert: I don't.
@@BasementBrandon I concur!
Thanks for the review, Brandon! Can't wait to see the rest of your new REP equipment setup!
Me too lol
@@BasementBrandon do a workout review or sth I like them 🤩💪
Lifting helps me forget that they made Star Wars episodes 7-9.
It helps me forget that The Simpsons should have stopped almost 20 years ago.
Are you telling me you don’t like Mary Sue’s? ReEeEeeeEEE
Lifting helps me forget that Apple made Apple Mac Pro Wheels
Haha I swear you star wars fans are crazy
I actually liked episode 7 (had potential to set up a good story arc), but they were so all over the place in 8&9
I’m basement too, I mostly buy Rogue as they ship to 🇨🇦
You guys get hosed on stuff though, I'm annoyed for you.
I'm a very mix and match guy. Fitness Reality rack and bench, Texas Power Bar, my plates are an extreme mix of Golds Gym Walmart edition, Big 5 sporting goods and CAP. My dumbbells are spinlock with an assortment of plates from various brands including DP, Sears, Walmart and weider.
As always, great insight, great overview and I’m left jealous of your gear and receiving “large packages”!
Hey now!
REP has done great recently at restocking the most wanted items. And I'm stoked that they're opening the new warehouse in Harrisburg, it's only an hour from me. Shipping time should be cut in half!
Yeah they've really been trying to innovate in how to get stuff out to people in terms of what they've tried. Not always successful but it's nice to see them listen to customers and try to enable people.
OH MY GOD, THAT'S INCREDIBLE! You are actually able to find plates somewhere?
Cheers! Great review!
Good to hear from you Jim
Have had a couple sets of the Iron Equalizer plates for over a year now and absolutely love them. Incredibly accurate weight, the center hole is precision drilled with very little slack on the bar (close to the Ivanko I have owned), and they compliment my REP Deep Knurl bar nicely. If I were building a home gym today REP Fitness would get almost ALL my money, better than alot of the Rogue equipment I have owned.
Have you had any issues with paint chipping?
@@BasementBrandon No more than any other plate I have owned. The plates do not sit perfectly flush up against each other so the paint seems to wear around the center hole more than anywhere else.
Well you already know I have 5 pairs of these, I really like them! No issues whatsoever with them, I tried to buy Rogue six shooters or the steel version of the equalizer plates for months, they just never come in stock. I was reluctant to get these at first but now I’m glad I did, I use them out in my garage so there is no issues with chipping and rusting. So far I’m super impressed with everything I’ve bought from Rep Fitness!
Oh yeah, I’m able to burn boxes and pallets out here where I live! Lol
Yours look great and was a contributing factor for this decision!
It’s funny, I was just thinking about messaging you to give the thumbs up on these in case anyone was asking. Lol
Bummed that REP Fitness doesn't ship to Canada. I would love to have a set of the Urethane Equalizers. Thanks for the great review though.
I think it's in their roadmap
Dude love the set up so far! Keep at it, plates look solid!!!
Thanks, hoping the next shipment fits lol
@@BasementBrandon I hope so also. I thought I had enough space for my sml-1 and my pr4000. But no cigar lol
So far my experience with REP has been very positive. Customer service has been extraordinary and they actually have been accurate with their timelines for availability. Just received their AB-5000 which I'm enjoying immensely and have over 400 lbs in bumper plates coming this week. Shipping has been incredibly fast here to MD too. All in all, I've been impressed. Now if Rogue could just get their house in order that would be great. Been waiting way too long for a few orders from them.
Yeah I'm thinking spring of next year things should hopefully be back to normal-ish, but we'll see!
Good to see you still like the REP deep knurl. I have that bar too and I feel like the knurl's gotten a bit kinder over time.
Everywhere or mostly where it contacts the cups? I cycle through bars so prob doesnt' get as much use/abuse as others.
@@BasementBrandon Where I place my hands mostly. In other words on the inside of the knurl mark. Maybe my hands just adjusted. I really like this bar though. At first I thought it was too aggressive, not anymore.
Thanks for the review keep them rolling
appreciate it man
Those are awesome plates, very good looking. but I love the sound of the cast iron clanging around as you lift to much to get urethane coated plates.
Agreed, it's def a dif sound, doesn't sound right!
When is the ISF bumper plates going to be reviewed?
I will try to do that one next.
Can’t wait to see these on selling apps for $18 per pound.
Lol won't catch me doing that. I've sold quite a bit over the past few months but never for more than MSRP.
@@BasementBrandon Oh no I wasn’t talking about you brother, I was speaking in general. Whenever a company restock and sell out quickly, all of their products end up on selling apps for quadruple the price. I have a pretty decent setup, it’ll get a lot better once everything returns to normal and I can buy a $500 piece of equipment for $500 and not $1500.
Behavior Matters aren’t gyms open everywhere now? I’m in Michigan and I know we were one of the last few states to open ours gyms
@@A-Mafia313 I’m in Austin Texas and I believe all of the gyms are back open, but I’m gonna give it about a year after everyone gets vaccinated before I even consider a public gym....plus I’ve invested a good amount of time and money in my garage gym, might just make it a permanent thing, we’ll see though. Are the gyms in your area seeing a lot of traffic brother?
@@A-Mafia313 Califorania here. Most gyms are still closed and if they are open it is at 25% capacity.
When they first produced these without the urethane coating, I picked up around 800lbs for under a grand! These look better, and I'm sure are going to wear better over time, but love the deal I got! Especially considering I was able to pick them up and forego shipping 😁
Awesome!
Sweet Plates. Thanks for Repping the basement gym. Not everyone has a garage.
Basement = Best
Yo B, you planning another powerlifting meet in near future, or you retired from doing that? Always a pleasure seeing you just beasting those competitions.
I will do more for sure, I just haven't been able to consistently train between work and moving.
I like them a lot. Just waiting to get some 35s and 10s. Gotta give the 35s some love 😉
my man
Just got these a month ago along with the rep Excalibur barbell and really like them. The hex holes aren't as comfortable to hold as a circle would be is the only possible neg I can think of.
Good point! I noticed that too while picking them up. The Rogues are beveled slightly to make gripping easier too.
I've been really contemplating flipping my Iron Grip Urethane plates for these REP Equalizers, but I'm wondering if the uncomfortableness will be a deal breaker. I like the iron grips a lot but these just look sexy. Any help making the decision is much appreciated. Thank you!
I do like these more than the look of the rogue six shooter version. Good to hear you initial impressions on them.
I think you may be in the minority there!
@@BasementBrandon only the urethane version. Not the cast plates. I dont find it aesthetically appealing how they made the holes so small on the rogue urethane. I understand why they did it. Just dont like it lol
Bought all my pandemic plates from Rep before they had EC distribution but thats awesome now theyre shipping could be even cheaper
Good timing!
Resolute Strengthwear out of Canada makes weight plates that are thinner than most calibrated plates you should review them.
I think the trade off is they have a larger diameter.
I’ve got the Intek Urethane plates. Really not that popular and pretty expensive, but the quality is great and the grips are a lot more ergonomic than the the rogue and rep imo
I almost got those when I was doing my first sorinex build (before it fell through).
I think you should do a what’s on my rogue weight tree video. I am curious about how many of the rogue six shooters you have ie what specifically did you purchase that fits on that tree. I’m picky as hell on how things in my gym look and that set and tree my goal.
Just sold my six shooters actually lol. But do have a weight tree update coming.
Was thinking of getting some of these, but I had to go with York G-2s which are real nice, but the interlocking thing actually kind of sucks when you stack them since they get stuck together.
Ahh didn't think of that.
How does the sound compared to regular iron or bumpers, im saying specifically when in use I like the click and clanging of iron so wanted to get a pair but the new USA made ones dont come with lifetime warranty like the urethanes
These ones don't make more noise. You do get some nice thuds when loading or deadlifting but you don't get the clang and bang of iron.
Why did you need these? Don't you already have a full set of the Rogue 6 shooters? Great content btw
Views =money. And he does a great job reviewing stuff that others may want to buy.
I didn't, but REP is sponsoring part of this basement build as I mentioned in some of the earlier videos. This will let me compare directly to the six shooters as many people try to pick between the two.
Lol I wouldn't go that far. I don't collect many things, If you watch my videos from 2 years ago I've pretty much sold everything I have. I do like reviewing and using different stuff though.
Keep doing what you do! Love the videos.
I just got some American Barbell Pro series urethane plates and wow they are nice. Really expensive though
AB has some really nice stuff (plates and bars) but you're right, they are on the more expensive side.
Why’d you feel the need to buy these? (it seems like you have a decent amount of weight in the six shooters) Love the channel and the reviews bro.
Wanted to be able to compare/contrast, I'm also getting a full rep set up to mirror what I have.
Man's got $
I definitely need to build a home gym to many people in the way at commercial gyms I go to
I'm a fan :)
Hey Brandon, how much noise did these plates make when benching and squatting with the Rep power bar? Much slack and clanging or not so much?
Not much. Since they're urethane as well any noise is more of a dull thud anyways. Some like that clang and bang of steel plates, but these won't do that.
I have nothing bad to say about Rep . No issues with shipping or quality!
Good to hear!
Looking forward to the equalizer vs 6 shooter comparison!! Used to not like the hole design plates but they keep growing on my haha. Do you prefer the hexagon or circular holes personally? (Aesthetically)
Circles, make it easier to grip as well!
Those were in stock for a whole week on there page I was been undecided on get them but they’re we’re the only ones in stock at the moment and I ended up buying them I bought 480 pounds it was really worth it just a little bit 2 thick that’s what she said 😆 for my paramount pendulum squat machine I need some iron plates now
I'm sure if you wanted to flip them you could make money!
Brandon Campbell Diamond I know but I don’t want to then have to wait there was a couple of people around here who sold there’s for the actual price not including shipping and didn’t try to flip them i just didn’t have the money to buy them if not I’ll buy them and have more pairs i also have siblings coming to my house to workout now so I won’t be able to sale them lol
I bought the regular rubber ones, they are solid not great...but they definitely beat cheap iron plates at a reasonable price.
Good to know!
Could u make a video on the tolerances of the plates?
Are you looking at the center hole tolerance of the +/- of what they weigh?
Rep Fitness makes really nice stuff, but sadly not shipping to Canada (so far).
I'm sure it's in their roadmap!
@@BasementBrandon A year away, sadly.
Harrisburg location is clutch. Do you think they'll have an option to pick up from the warehouse?
Def think so, they offer that in CO currently.
No update on the rest of the set?
I'm sure I could do one
The lettering.... is it painted on, sticker? Flat/seemless with plate, or indented in? All my plates are black on black urethane (iron grip and first run intek). Wondering if I could somehow remove the white labeling. Would look better in my dining room :)
Also, when you push one against another, when loading more plates, do they "clank" or "thud?"
Painted on, they're nice. No clanking.
What was your reason to get the equalizers when you have the 6 shooters already Brandon?
REP is sponsoring my basement and gives me a good thing to contrast to the Rogue ones I own.
Brandon Campbell Diamond wow that’s awesome
I just bought the Rogue version of those urethane 6 shooter which I will be doing a review on when they come in. When you do your next video on these plates if you don’t mind giving a shout out to my page on Instagram and RUclips it would be greatly appreciated. I can’t find a review on them from anyone else. Great content as always and basements are just as good as a garage if not better. Lol
Tag me on IG when you post and I'll share.
I just got 570 of these, love them.
Chris Fisher I hope you mean pounds lol
@@jakem7 lol absolutely, lbs!
That's a lot of plates :)
@@BasementBrandon And thanks for the review as always, you were definitely spot on with your description.
Nice review Brandon! I didn't know much about REP before, but now I might pick these up for my new home gym I'm building! I have a question about sandwich J cups: What is your opinion on the sandwich j cups vs the 2 inch sandwich j cups? It looks like the normal ones have the potential for the bar collar to scrape the bolts (especially the bolt at the end where you unrack, and especially because the monster racks are 49in wide). Or are all the bolts always out of reach of the bar collar? Also, will the bar collar slam into the backplate of the normal sandwich j cups when you rerack hard against the back? I like that the normal sandwich cups are thinner, but not if it defeats the purpose of getting them to prevent metal-on-metal contact!
I have the sandwich ones (regular) and have no complaints, like them a lot! Don't own the 2" version so nothing to really say on them unfortunately!
Why did you decide to get a new set of plates? I've pieced together the weights I need but can't decide on which rack I want
Unless you are going cheap like Titan cheap the Rogue stuff hits the value and accessories angle pretty strong. I have the RM 4 Fortis rack. If you can live with only black paint and the fact that it's welded and not a bolt together it's the steal in their lineup.
Opportunity came up and gives me a good way to compare/contrast.
i hope equipment is going to be way cheaper for me now to ship now since i live in philly haha. also dope review as always brandon!
Hopefully they also offer local pick up for free.
I don’t know why, but I love REP
I think they're putting together some good offerings that compete with some of the more well known suppliers, but at a decent price. Almost a blend between high end and low end.
Brandon Campbell Diamond exactly, a reasonable quality an a reasonable price
if ignoring cost differences, would you go with urethane coated plates like these or urethane bumpers when your training does NOT include overhead stuff like cleans or snatches? Plates will hit the floor from things like deadlifts or pendlay rows.
I don't want plates that are sloppy on the bar like some poor quality plates can be. The machined inserts of urethane bumpers seem like they will stay tight on the bar over time vs. the metal inner rings on the Urethane covered plates likes these, but I don't have either so tough to tell.
I think you can find instances of either where the tolerances are good and bad. For most of the population either would be more than enough. It's typically the cheaper cast plates where you have the issue.
That box looked way bigger on Instagram. Haha.
I'm just huge.
If only rep, isf or titan shipped to Canada. Rogue is the only "standard" rack maker that ship to Canada. We have bells of steel and gorilla fitness but they are 2.3x2.3 and 2.5x2.5 rack makers....
hopefully that changes soon!
they look great
So far so good!
Unrelated question here but do you know why no one offers a Stainless deadlift bar ?
I know there are some in testing right now. My thought might be with the lower tensile strength of the steel it might not work as well.
Brandon Campbell Diamond Rogue and Texas I assume ?
@@Wizard-ys3vf I've been asked not to disclose who in the event it doesn't happen, but I can say no to both of those.
Hey Brandon what do you think of the Troy USA Olympic Plates? They are machined iron plates but I was quite disappointed to find that the center diameter is machined to 52 mm not 50 mm. I did snag a 245 lb set for $400, however. Should I keep or resell???
Which ones? The grip plates? Wide flange?
How close were the accuracy of these weights when you weighed them? And could they be used for performing deadlifts without damage to these plates? Thanks
Haven't weighed them yet!
Can you review the PRX performance racks ?
If I ever get one yes.
Basement based is the way to go😁
Time for some serious lifting now Brandon and prepare for Master 1. Those bb squats won't do you much good! 🧐
Haha just working on my toning.
Can you dead lift with these kinds of plates. I worry they won't hold up over time. I'm building a home gym, and was considering bumpers.
Sure can.
I'm torn between these and the plain steel Equalizers. Let me know if they worth the upcharge.
I think for most, the steel ones make more sense.
So would you say they're worth it?for a home gym?i already have a set of deep dish plates and a set of bumpers for my home gym.just saw some on offer up and was wondering if i should buy them
They're great plates, but for most iron or bumpers will work fine and prob be a little more cost friendly.
Check out "Distill Web Monitor" it's a chrome extension that will monitor a web page for changes aka RESTOCKS! Its how I'm buying my gym gear in the end times.
Nice.
Hey man,
Still digging these plates? Was wondering if they pinch your hand when holding them, seems like they cut in with that hexagon shape.
Happy holidays to you and your family dude!
They’re nice but I do t know if the extra price for urethane is worth it for most. I also still prefer the six shooters to them.
@@BasementBrandon
Oh really? Any particular reason? I was caught between these two plates (steel versions)
@@kozmo7 Cost point is much higher for little to no benefit IMO
@@BasementBrandon
Gotcha. Thanks dude here’s to a happy holiday and new year.
Bro review the ISF plates
Ah I need to, I'll do that one next (or will try to)
I ordered these plates and waited nearly 2.5 months i got told it'd be another 2 months so they offered me their standard plates or v2. I took their offer on their standard plates (shouldve gone with v2)... They sent me some bootleg plates, they arent even REPs standard plates. They look like they broke at some point and got welded back together... I regret not waiting.
ah I'm sorry to hear that.
@@BasementBrandon yeah plates are plates I guess... the 45s ranged from 43.7 to 45.2 only the 25, 10, and 5 were accurate.
Close your eyes before you open the Ark
Face melted off a long time ago.
Did you make a follow-up video review of these (and the ones you hadn’t’ received at this point) plates? Can’t seem to find it. Title?
No but I will this week or next!
@@BasementBrandon I JUST got these REP Urethane plates, and several had some obvious scrapes, pieces of lettering scraped off and/or blemishes/blotches in the urethane. Did I just have bad luck, or others just tolerate this? For the money, you'd think there wouldn't be any issues like this. I also have rogue urethane round dumbbells, and don't notice these issues with them. Waiting to hear back from REP on it...
@@glenndoren7922 I'd def get their CS involved. Paying a premium so I'd do the same.
@@BasementBrandon I did just that. At first they offered $50 (or $75 gift card) :-| After some unnecessary "negotiating", they've finally agreed to send 2 new 45s and 2 new 25s to swap out with plates in my first batch via UPS. At first, they requested I find a pallet, re-wrap the whole thing, ship em back and they they would send a new batch out. Which isn't very helpful when I live in the city and don't have the original pallet. They finally offered to send the 2 replacement pairs via UPS. That won't cover all the plates with some shoddy paint blemishes/marks, but that will cover the worst offenders. I will say--I also have rogue urethane round dumbbells, and those are way cleaner than these REPs. I like the design of these plates, but the quality control is pretty shoddy based upon this batch. I have a PR-5000 6-post coming, as well as a bunch of their slam and med balls. Just got their AB-5200 and FB-5000 benches a couple months ago, and the 5200 also had some weird quality control issues (a handle covered in rust, plus the stand was a little scratched up). I'm upgrading from a Rogue SML-3, and after these multiple REP quality control experiences, I'm a bit nervous that maybe I should have found another Rogue rack. I really like the REP's 30inch 6 post design, but their quality issues make me nervous now.
@@glenndoren7922 If it makes you feel any better (or worse), I don't think REP is alone in facing QC issues. I've seen a lot of companies (Rogue included) seem to have more issues over the past 18 months.
What mic set up are you using?
Hey Nick, this is just a Rode Wireless Go w/lav mic. Highly recommend.
Looking every for plates... I’ve had to get most of them on Craigslist, but still need some more... everywhere I look is sold out.. if anyone has the hook up let me know
Stock has been better and the 2nd hand market has been seeing better prices. Good luck!
Does anybody know if these equalizers would be good for Olympic lifting , and dropping them from a good height? Or should I just go for regular competition style bumpers?
I'd prob gear more towards actual bumpers.
Brandon: I just got 257.5kgs of Eleiko Vulcano discs; can you do a review please?
Did you win the lottery? 🤣🤣
Nice! Haven't seen those in person before.
@@getstrongby4038 LOL! I wish.....I think. Ha a. I’m working out in my basement right now. So you get a like from me on that.
Will you convert to all one plate type? If so, which one?
I'm not sure to be honest. no plans on consolidating just yet!
How they never have anything in stock!
Sometimes I wonder with everything out of stock and stuff flying off the shelf the second it drops, how many homes have something akin to a home gym... 1 out of 5? Once this all blows over the used market will be flooded, folks won't be able to give it away.
Ordered these 7 months ago.

Mine have been great, I'm going to do an update on them in the next few days.
Have you use the rep plates for your dead lift workouts?
I have, but tend to use the steel ones more.
@@BasementBrandon Is it because the rep plates could get damage more easily? Asking because im thinking to get 4 pairs at the moment on the 45lbs sets.
@@stevencheah2763 No they'll hold up fine, it's just my steel plates are closer to the deadlift platform :)

@@TheDuckKlr Ah def never recommended these over the six shooters! But I can def do an update.
@@BasementBrandon that would be great. It would also be nice to see how accurate the set is.
I mean they are still 45 pounds right? No need for that price you can get a pair for 120-150
Not an apples to apples comparison tbh. With that logic you could argue a 50lbs bag of sand for $5 is all you need.
Brandon Campbell Diamond if I could put it in a plate that wouldn’t break I would

Yep!
Look cool but I would prefer the metal ones.
I think metal makes sense for most!
My man! What kind of Nikes are those?
Just Nike Free RN
Do you still lift? I remember when you were stronger than me
I do, but the last few months have been very inconsistent b/c of work and moving. Once the rest of the equipment is in, I'll be jumping back in to programming.
Um my best total with Dan was 1425 lol. My strongest has actually been working with TSA right before we had our first child 3 years ago.
Why did you buy these?
I think I mentioned this in the video, wanted to be able to compare them to the six shooters. REP also offered to help equip the new space, so these made the most sense.
I live in central Texas. I think I’ve been in maybe... three basements in my entire life.?. None of them in this state. I’d rather work out in a basement up north than a garage down south. At least I never have to shovel the heat out of the driveway.
I won't lie, I def wear my belt sometimes when shoveling lol
are you phasing out your 6 shooters?
nope!
Must be great to live in America where they have equipment in stock. Here in Australia we cant order anything from anywhere becuase its all out of stock.....
Nah it’s like that here as well. Reps got etas for stuff but they keep getting pushed back. He probably just got a lucky grab or got shown some of that RUclips review guy love
Its the same here, man. I need to have stock alerts so I can get in time to buy stuff.
Everything is out of stock, this order was 7 months in the making.
Looking lean!
Not on purpose lol
I've got a question ... the man who runs one of the You Tube channels I follow, not fitness related, claims that he makes over $200,000 per year in revenues, and he has just a few thousand more subscribers than you do. Obviously I'm not going to ask for any specifics, but does that sound at all reasonable?
Largely depends on affiliates and other selling. Strictly RUclips views depends on activity. I make around $1-2k per month from views pre-tax.
@@BasementBrandon That makes sense. Nick Wright did a financial breakdown a while back and although he makes a lot of money from his channel, enough for it to be a full time job, most of it's from affiliates.
Man I spent about $2500 on these plates and the seems on every single one really looked like dog shit... i really wouldn't recommend these to anyone looking for the amount of money
Sorry to hear, mine all look great.

I’m definitely interested in seeing the tolerances on these.
They feel heavy to me, but maybe I'm just getting weaker lol
Your videos are great but man... you repeat yourself a lot... lol
I usually don't decide on what video I'm filming until the day of and then I just turn the camera on and talk. I could prob write out a script some like others do, but I'd rather just bang it out.
