  • Hey guys, Today I'm going to show you how to make usable bearings made by my FDM 3d printer. half way through the print I'm embedding the ball bearings in the center. Letting the print continue closes and holds the balls in. Im using TronXY X8 as my primary printer.

question tho what's the top speed those bearings can handle?.
    something around 15000 rpm?.
and for how long? "life span".

Great tutorial man. It works great! It didn't work with 6mm bb's though, because they were too big. Also the height sensor on the prusa mk3 bumps into it. So it may work on other printers.

Dude, great video and a nice idea. Would be nice to show how you did the design in more detail in Freecad for noobs like me.

Have you made any comparison video of your 3d printed bearing with a steel bearing(/ the real thing)?

Great technique similar work has been done at Stanford University where they have made graded materials where in a single part you have variable stiffness.

I have the Anycubic i3 mega, when follow you instruction on pausing the print, I can't find a way to start it again , does this only work if the printer is connected to the computer ?

No, I was able to pint off an sd card. A quick google search (www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/as5125/anycubic_i3_mega_pause_at_height/) shows that other people are having the same issue so it might be the 3d printer software. Things you can try, make sure software is up to date and if that doesn't work you might have to manually pause at the correct height. good luck on getting the print to work.

    There is 4 & 5 ways.
    Use Airsoft balls, 4 - plastick 6mm & 5 - steel strikeballs.
On thinigverse a lot such models.
    You invent that was invented.
