I personally prefer Classic ones like this than Disney ones.. Don Quichotte, Swan Lake, and Giselle (this one) is my favorite so far. It really brings the real classic side of Ballet, and I do enjoy it way more. Thank you so much, and also looking forward for something like this!! something that we would actually learn in real ballet lesson :)
I enjoyed this Giselle themed class so so much!! I would love for you to do classes for any/many more ballets! Specifically maybe Midsummer, Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty!:)
The whole time in my pre-professional career I wished to have a teacher like you. The dynamic yet detailed explanation of the difference in movement of one ballet to the other (like how the arms are different in Giselle than in Swan Lake). This class is great for that teachnique, thank you!
By far my favorite barre you've ever done! It's so fun! I'm usually a much more rigid dancer, but your explanations for the softer port de bras helped me a ton. Thank you so much for the time you put into this!
Hooray - Giselle! A wonderful idea to focus on the port de bras. Your explanations concerning the artistry of my favorite ballet adds that extra depth. Carla Fracci is certainly smiling and approving! Thank you!
Love love love all your videos because of the artistry you teach us during the video. This makes the classes actually very hard as I have to learn new ways to balance. Love your explanation of the different styles. You saved my sanity during the pandemic and now give me joy to just do your class.
thank you! I loved the emphasis on the difference of energy in neck/gaze/arms for Giselle vs. Swan Lake. This is my first class of your longer videos but I'll definitely be watching more and I love these specific notes on how to use the specifics of body gesture to help inform either character or intent. I loved the way the energy had to keep flowing to embody Giselle. tysym!
Loved this barre! Not in spite of the challenge but because of t. It's hard to do the Giselle arms properly without falling into 'habit' but it kept me very focused and present and I feel stronger because of it. I will definitely do this again and looking forward to the center portion of the class. Thank you!
keeping me inshape over my break thank you so much for what you do! i cannot afford studio classes so i have to take college classes to dance and am mostly self taught. I appreciate this so much
I love these classes! They give me a boost that I need for actual in real life classes, so that when the introduce a new thing Ive already gotten a head start. Thank you!
I gave up ballet a few years ago because of the stress of examwork and the constant negative critiques from teachers, it felt like they were criticising me like I was a professional when I just wanted to do ballet for fun. Doing this class has reminding me why I love ballet, thank you so much for posting
Also quick question: I learned in Ireland so we may have different terms for things, when you say 'sous-sous' is that an American term for bras-bas (arms down)? Or is that something else?
I am so sorry about you teachers. They should not have treated you like that. At my school sous sus is the term for a crossed releve in fifth, and most of the time the arms for a sous sus are in high fifth.
I've got a little tip for people whose left side is/feels much worse than their right (left as a working leg not as strong/flexible, right as a supporting leg not as stable, coordination feels wonky, this stuff): For the last 8 or so classes I did at home, I started every exercise on the left. This helped, especially with more strength based stuff, since my left leg was fresher and thus didn't feel nearly as heavy and I could better use the correct muscles. From this, I gained confidence, since, obviously, my left side was much better than I'd thought! Eventually, I felt as confident with my left side as I used to feel with my right, while my right side began to feel a bit... off, because, you know, the brain strongly believes that the second side must be the weaker one. So I chose this as the moment to begin switching starting sides for every exercise. And now my brain is kinda confused and doesn't know which side to feel wonky on, so it all just feels pretty solid and stable. Sure, my left still isn't quite as good as my right, but I feel so confident in what I have. I'm no longer cramped when I do my left side. I no longer expect it to feel wonky and bad. I don't know if this would work for anybody else, but feel free to try it if you have a chance. I honestly don't quite know why it's commonplace to switch starting sides. Having a wonky side is mostly just a mindfuck. I mean, when your right side was at the level your left side is now, you still felt more confident with it than you ever felt with your left side, right? So.... If you try, let me know how it worked out :)
was smiling all the way through the class. I love the music and your ." this is Gissele and this is swant lake " Although When cradeling my baby I felt real sadness. You kave such a lovely down to earth character and you have a great sense of humour. Your personality shines through.I think you are an awsome person. And wonderful teacher. I am 53 now but I still love a ballet barre and yours are the best.🤩🥰
It s a total honour and privilege to be able to learn from you!!❤❤❤ Thank you a lot for brightening up my life 🌹🌹🌹The grace of your arms and hands are truly mesmerizing!!!
I love this.! can you do a Giselle pointe class for Beginners to Advance; possibly one that suits all levels, please.? I’m going to try to do this en pointe, maybe just some parts if I can’t do all of it.. & hopefully it will work on my turnout, strength, balance, and port de bras all in one.. my birthday is Thursday and I’m planning on trying to rent a studio so I can free flow dance and let out all my emotions & stress.. I’m still a beginner, but I feel like being able to take a few of your barres in a peaceful studio will give me more motivation and confidence to get used to being in a studio, since I’m only taking class at home.. tbh, I’ve never even touched Marley floors.. maybe I can get a floor at home soon, but right now, dance is honestly the only thing keeping me sane; my light at the end of the tunnel I reckon.. thank you so so much for the class.! It’s so incredibly appreciated.! btw, the vlogs had me lmaoooo🤣 when he was talking about how bad his mouth was on stage, dropping the freedom bombs, I’ve never related to something so much before😅😂
That was the one I was hoping for ❤❤ thank you so much! I can’t wait for the center!!! A nutcracker one for the winter time would be very nice too😊 or sleepy beauty
Hi Katie, thanks for the lovely class! As to the typical arm position: up to my knowledge it is slightly less romantic reason. The gesture with arms crossed over your chest would be the position usually those who passed away would be often depicted in in the past, and so it is rather a sign that all the women are dead. Just the hands are placed slightly lower to have a softer appearance.
Hi Katie, are you going to do more of these high def ballet barre/center videos with time stamps/ no intros again in the future? I checked out the Subscription classes, but they aren't quite like the quality of these you've made in the past. Would love to get more of these types of videos in the future. Thank you so much!!
Ι love your class! I would like to ask a question. Before 1 month i had pain in the back (middle) I start with the online program and during the devellopé i had pain in the back: I can continue ballet or the pain will be worst?
God that other variation about the babies is so heartbreaking.. Kat, Thank you for this~! Please consider doing a Harry Potter themed barre and centre (maybe) And/Or Sleeping Beauty/Fairies barre~!

Whoa! It took two times taking the class to be able to keep up. At age 61, I’m happy.

I can not find the center version??????? Did you ever upload it or you deleted it already??
What about Le Corsaire or La Bayadère, it could also be nice...
I have one question: why do you slightly bend your leg when coming together after a battement?
Very good¡¡ thankyou
God that other variation about the babies is so heartbreaking.. Kat, Thank you for this~! Please consider doing a Harry Potter themed barre and centre (maybe) And/Or Sleeping Beauty/Fairies barre~!

I'm doing Giselle for YAGP and I'm so incredibly nervous any advice?
Take your time with everything, and really tell the story. It helps with the hard steps!
@@kathryn_morgan thank you!
I think you’re wrong. Swan thinking like feet or head and opposite for Giselle. But I’ll try to follow your head!
