Please do make more of these! Both interesting as well inspiring. I learned a lot from your videos - you deserve a lot more attention (as does this game in general)! Keep it up man!
I never thought about using slim slabs of thruster blocks for decorative thrust discharge, and of course the spaced armor looks fantastic. Thank you, for this.
Edge Blocks are able to merge now PogChamp didn t even notice still converted them to Hull merged them and converted them back. And thanks for teaching me how to use Edge 3 Blocks couldn t really figure that out
Excellent tutorial Mate. Thanks so much for taking the time to show your process and add your comments. Realy makes a difference having someone who is experienced in using this building system show their techniques. Awesome. Hope to see more of your work! ;) Cheers mate.
I am new to this game and i am too old for this "shit" ( Danny Glover's quote in Lethal Weapon) , usually i feel bored to stick on designing something for long time and i end up play with a "brick" so with that been said ...WOW bro ...i mean i know people with free time and lots of creativity can do amazing things but THAT was above and beyond to me ! Watching you giving shape to that ship from scratch was THE experience . You are talented ! Thanks for sharing your talent with us !!!
I wasn't expecting to learn anything for I would deem myself reasonably adept at building in this game. But wow. I actually learned WAY more than expected. Definetely subscribed and looking forward(and backwards hehe) to more videos.
Hot damn! In 5 minutes you knock out a basic ship shape that's miles better than anything I've ever made in this game. (Flying death cubes) Thanks for making these tutorials. I'll make sure to learn from your techniques and your proficiency of using the editor and try to make better ships in the future. :D
A year later and I don't see the new engine tutorial you mentioned you was going to do like in this video? Still planned or did said plans get misplaced? Just wondering as I'm struggling to make nice engines.
What is the point about making 0.1 thick armor? Purely aestetics? If you don't have unpenetratable shield, those will fall off from pretty much anything hitting them. And if the shield is depleted, you basically have just hull, no armor, as those won't stop any damage. Correct? I also could not understand why did you cover your basic hull shapes in 0.1 squares of hull in some places, and only then strated to place small cubic spacers to go for armor from there. on those hull slopes spacing ended up being wider than it is on a straight pieces?
Armor actually stops railgun projectiles from penetrating. And as this is a smaller vessel it wouldn't have thicker armor also makes lighter for better agility. And I cover the hull so the insides aren't shown on the outside or else the ship wouldn't look very good.
Black Disciple thanks for response. I actually like your building style, just wanted to clarify some questions. Do you have general advice about how thick such armor should be compared to the ship size and class? What thickness is actually reasonable at max? 0.25? Also, do you get any combat benefit from the fact that armor is spaced away from the ship, or placing it just on top of the hull is viable too?
Thos one will be going to my patreon for I release every 1st of the month I've got four ships going to patreon right now and I'm now working on the workshop ships
Once you have your basic ship design... why not just change it all to scaffolding so you can see better where to put the armor? Regardless, It's a nice tutorial, it was very satisfying to watch.
It's easier to convert to get the stats you want because hull has higher mass then scaffold so when you're converting you can accurately get the stats you want thruster wise and what not also adds HP to you
@@stevenfutrell7892 Okay. Thanks for the explanation. To get around that, you could convert to scaffold while laying the armor... and then convert back to hull for the rest of the build. I saw you spinning the model around looking for places you missed, so it might save you some time.
Hello Black Disciple. I like your technique! My steam name is AnubitFire. I'll be stealing all your secrets! MWAHAHAHAHA! No but seriously, nice work! :)
So do you have a "world" that is just creative or something? AFAIK the only way to design ships in a single player game is by actually changing an existing ship.
That spaced armor is downright black magic. Looking forward to the engine tutorial, the ones you used here look fantastic.
WOW! you are a talented builder! Nice work! I learned alot watching this video thanks!

Feels like watching the bob ross of ship building! would love to see more of these commentary vids

Very nice video, good information and useful techniques !
Keep it that way ;)
Even just the hull tip to make it out of 1x1x1 blocks and merely modularly edit in what you need has helped me lots in not making a brick.
I learn so much watching you. Just started building recently and you've answered a LOT of questions I had. Keep it coming!

There are tons of designs on steamworkshop you can download as well. I like playing using other peoples designs and inspiring my own (if I have time).
Love your building style, will definitely be incorporating multiple techniques from here into my own game. Thanks for sharing I'm subbed!
Nice to hear your voice in the video. Like to see more in future :)
Great video really enjoy it, keep up the good work.

why didn't i see this video much earlier, you're a goddamn magician!
Its the best tutorial that ive seen in avorion. Mind you state the mods specially that debug mod out pls... Thanks for good tutorial.
the only mod is textures the debug is an ini file where you set devmode to true in the server ini in the galaxy save folder.
nice ship design my man :o

Looks super neat, im just a little worried with performance on larger ships, is that much of a problem?
Would you mind lowering the music a bit, other than that I enjoyed this tutorial.
Absolutely I noticed it was a tad bit high lol
hi black! awesome tutorials. Just a question, are there any blueprint of the sphere and the circle? tried tu builded but never get a oerfect one
There is some on the workshop just put sphere or circle into the search bar and you'll find quite a few

Looks great! I never got the patience for these kind of details. Do you have the ship in the workshop?
Thos one will be going to my patreon for I release every 1st of the month I've got four ships going to patreon right now and I'm now working on the workshop ships
You could size this up x100 and it would still have more detail than anything I've made

bro wtf, its soo good it looks like u used a 3d modeling program
Hey Black Magic, how long did it take you to learn how to build like this ? Your work is truly amazing.
Interesting approach on building the shape of the ship. Very inspiring!
Are you using a custom hull skin?
I am indeed my texture pack is on the workshop it's also in a collection called Avorion the Journey
Fucking love your ships bro

This is amazing, what can be built in this game.

you can get out in your drone and make a new one.
@@stevenfutrell7892 Yes of course. By "founding" a new ship.
