Why cure them? I have about 50 smallish to medium purple onions and I thought I'd just chop them up and freeze them without curing them. Would that be OK?

You two are just wonderful Hollis! I just discovered your videos, and I think it's great that you two are not only urban homesteaders, but Christians too! Praise God that I found you. Can you plant your garden without using a lot of money? I notice you have all sorts of items you use in your garden, like drying racks, five gallon buckets, assorted areas where you've built raised up areas where you put your potatoes in the buckets. Please, tell me that it doesn't cost too much. My husband and I really would love our garden to do well, but we don't have a lot of money. Anything you can tell us with regards to planting a garden on the cheap would really help.

There is an initial investment as with anything. That is why when I do build something, I build it to last. We don’t have a lot of money either. We have to build a little at the time. Don’t try to do everything at once. Add one or two projects per year. Thanks for watching and subscribing!! Welcome to the family ❤️❤️🐶. Have a blessed week

I appreciate the time and effort you take to make these excellent videos.
You wait until the next stage actually occurs in the garden, then continue the video with actual demonstrations at each stage.
It takes a lot longer to get the video done, but it is so much more helpful to see your demonstrations, than listen to a talking head explain what to do next without showing it.
    Thank you!

I am so excited that I stumbled on to your channel!! I have learned so much from you guys, Hollis ... you are a natural teacher!! It is truly a gift to be able to teach (and reach) people and you have been blessed with this gift. You explain things in a way that I can understand. My family has made improvements to what we normally grow but more importantly how to successfully grow more and how to cure, store and keep our produce longer as well. (I have potatoes growing in containers right now because of what I've learned from you guys... I cannot wait to reap those rewards!!!)

  • @rvnmedic1968

Nice modification to the cultivator! I've watched some other videos on growing, harvesting, curing and yours by far is the best explanation out there. Never knew that curing meant the onion actually papers over after sitting. I just started growing onions from cuttings off the bottom and having them sit on top of water in jars. The roots grow fast and I've planted six so far. They are doing great.
After I bag them in October, will they last longer than 3 months if I hang the bags in my wine cellar? It's a steady 55 degrees during the winter. Thanks for a great vid! Cheers from upstate NY! Bob
