Genuine question if I already booked my room for a cruise, the hotel and flight can I still book a travel agent?
@@soccersinger101 Yes. We can transfer your cruise
Mega ships? At this rate, ships will become so huge, they won't even have to leave port. You can simply get on in Fort Lauderdale and walk the deck to Cozumel.
😂😂😂😂😂

Big ships are great, but they're EXPENSIVE. A smaller older ship provides the same relaxation at a fraction of the price.
Yep. I took a sister and a nephew on the Paradise in October of 2022 and they had a great time! I paid for both of them, because it was such great deal!
When I started cruising it was because of the options to see new countries. I hope none of the cruise lines forget that niche of customers
Same! I wasn’t happy when Royal changed my first cruise to Coco Cay and now it’s on all the itineraries.
@@mscott556 Yes, I hate the idea of going to a manufactured commercial resort versus visiting a country I have never been to before. I also don't much care for excursions that stop at higher priced tourist shopping areas.
I Absolutely Love the Dude in the Heart ♥️ Glasses with the drink🍹!! 😂
While I love all of these big mega ships I wonder if, 5 or 10 years down the road , when they start getting rid of their smaller older ships what's going to happen to their secondary homeports like Tampa, Jacksonville, Baltimore etc., which cannot fit the mega ships. Are they going to start building smaller ships or abandon cruising from those homeports.
I don’t think they’ll abandon them. They can’t have 20+ ships going to exactly the same places. Royal Caribbean have already announced a smaller class of ships, Norwegian are already downsizing somewhat. I guess it depends how long Carnival keep their smaller ships sailing for
Great question. I think there will always be a market
@@reececollison5101I'm happy to hear that Royal Caribbean is thinking of building smaller ships. Would the Norwegian Prima class ships that they're building now and are smaller than their breakaway class ships fit into a port like Tampa? would they be able to make it under the bridge? Personally I like the variety of being able to cruise on mega ships and medium size ships.
Carnival Cruise Line has a few bullets left: internal transfers from other cruise lines. I would expect AIDA to get a new Excel or larger ship, and send two Sphinx-class or Icarus-class ships to Carnival as replacements for Elation and Paradise. AIDA would still be up in passenger capacity even with one fewer vessel. This will keep Baltimore, Tampa, and Jacksonville in the game well into the 2030s.
I also suspect Carnival Sunshine will be retired in 2027. She would be due for drydock again in January 2028.
@@vamoscruceros Is Carnival getting rid of the Paradise? That is sad. I loved the Paradise!
I remember sailing on Carnival as a kid when it was simpler, fun, and laid back. It’s fun ship moniker just meant people were having a clean good times. Cha-cha dance lines and limbo. You almost never saw fights happen or heard of people bring drugs on board.
Bigger isn't always better.
That's what she always say
@@victorsheldon7961 LOL
Small dick syndrome 😂
no. its about the angles.😂😂. if I can find a good sized ship. with good drinking packages. cleanliness. and good service. you got me.
lmao
HUSH....I just found out about cruising and how cheap it is. When I tell people I went on a cruise they think I am rich. I want to keep this a secret. People really don't know. I think if they just keep adding more and more mega ships, it will help the poor people like me be able to travel 2 people for $700 port fees included. As always, people over indulge when they don't have to.
That's why I like NCL. They weren't afraid to go smaller on new ships
I wish Carnival would put a ship back in Puerto Rico. These companies building bigger ships and keep going to the same ports. I hope they come up with different itineraries.
I totally agree👍
Please👍🏾
I just booked Carnival Celebration for 12/2025 and one of the ports is San Juan.
I personally love the oasis class. It’s perfect. Icon just seems too much and I don’t really LOVE voyager/freedom class. I REALLY wish Royal would renovate their cabins, similar to celebrity. I would be more inclined to go on older ships.
Please....have more smaller ships that offer three hots and a cot for a nice destress cruise with less frills.
Extremely dislike the larger ships.
Only the smallest ships can get into Baltimore due to the bridges. Love the small ships but would like to have a choice without flying somewhere. We can get to the dock in less than an hour in Baltimore. Flying and shuttles can add up to 50% to the cruise price.
Very true. I wonder if the mega ships can get under the Verrazano Bridge.
I agree. It takes me 45 minutes to the Baltimore port. It’s the same old ship that gets replaced with another old ship. When you get use to a ship it feels like a boat. We also want to go to a different places not just Nassau, Freeport and Grand Turk.
@@browniegay9130 I agree with you!
The cruises out of Baltimore seem to be more expensive. You can add $200 bucks to a cruise from Florida for a flight and have way more ship options at about the same cost. Did the Pride once and would much rather fly for the options. The Magic was nice from Norfolk but now they are bringing an older ship .
I would really like to see some smaller ships. I enjoyed Grandeur of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas. Smaller ships would be able to reach various new ports. So glad to see Dancing and Drinking Dave in this episode!
Carnivals Dream class ship is the right size for me. I did a 2 week panama caanal cruise on the Dream and had a great time. Ship didnt seem crowded and had enough stuff to do on our sea days.
Perfect, Magic is my favorite ship . Magic and Breeze are the only ships I’ve done more than once. 4 times on Magic and 2 times Breeze. Plus the real therapy pool is the best. I always get a spa room or a week’s pass.
I think you are right. The prices will be too much soon, and they are going to lose customers. I am going on my first cruise this year, and it may be the last one because the prices are going up so much since I booked it.
Justin you have the most beautiful smile. I wish I could afford to go to Mexico to replace my dentures that are needing some work. Nothing to do with cruising but hands down you have the most beautiful teeth and your smile lights up my day. Love from your #1 fan living in Delray Beach.
Oasis and Icon are my favorite. I cruise the mega ships for the ship and don't really care what the ports are. I don't even get off at a lot of them.
Thank you for bringing this up. We just came back from a LA cruise on the Carnival Radiance and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The. Ship was smaller than the Celebration and felt more personalised. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly. We the. Did a 7 day cruise on Celebration out of Miami and I am happy to say I will never cruise Carnivals mega ships. The staff were clearly overworked and rude. We have to wait for an hour to get our mains after receiving the starters. When we asked the waiter for another drink he was so rude and it felt like we were more of a bother. No thanks to Carnival mega ships, I would rather sail on their oldest smaller ships
Not the bed wrestle…Jay you are hilarious!
I was just on a mid to large size ship. After an atrocious muster drill: being redirectly to the wrong place, being pushed shoved and jumped over in the elevator area I decided it was safer to go down with the ship!
One of the officer that saw most of it and said they would need to work more on training …… ya think? I can’t imagine the mess if people were panicking!
Carnival definitely need to clean house.. I love Carnival absolutely!!! But they need consistency!!!!!!
I like the smaller cruise ships
The biggest cruise ship I sailed on was the Mardi Gras. And I loved it!!
One thing that wasn't mentioned is that many seasoned cruisers are older, and the mega ships require a LOT of walking. Having been on several classes of RC (two with older parents), I can confirm that the larger ships feel less crowded and there is more to do. But they also have fewer quiet places on the ship to sit back and just relax by the water (either these areas are enclosed, reserved for suites, or in the noisy pool areas). There should be an option to go on a smaller ship that is not older and needing updating. As empty nesters we really don't utilize many of the ship activities that we are paying for such as the slides, rock climbing, flow rider, etc. and with the prices going up as fast as they are, we just booked a smaller RC ship for next year.
I've only been on Allure as far as the big ships go, and I loved it, but I would also love to get some newer smaller and midsized ships. I love the size of Liberty, I think it's a great ship and would love a new one that size. Plus, we usually leave out of galveston and are now super limited on where the big ships go on the 7 night sailings.
Jay, I travelled on the Mardi Gras on a B2B about a week ago. There was no mis-behavior going around. There was a lot of security visibly present and I thought they were doing a great job maintaining a safe environment. I went on the Wonder and the food was mediocre and the buffet was very limited and of poor quality. Yes, I agree that RCCL is a well oiled machine but if they continue to increase their prices and lower their services clients may choose to sail with other cruise lines. For example, I am a diamond member with Royal but I am starting to sail with other cruise lines because of this.
Carnival excel class isnt that big compared to others. The carnival product isnt about the ship, its about the fun and the entertainment.
I think the Vista class strikes a good balance between size and features.
lol, they all have the same thing, the fun and the entertainment it's up to the passenger.
I love big ships!
Oh ok finally the full video and not just 12 seconds lol
Sorry… Some issue on RUclips’s end. That was weird
@@JSHIPLIFE no problem. Just glad I got to see the video!
Royal needs to bring a newer ship to SoCal.
My family likes the Carnival Dream class ships. Magic I'd our favorite. A great size. We've sailed on her 3 times.
Yea, I am so not interested in the mega ships. I really wish they would focus on medium size ships and target for clientele: adults, families, party all the time or relax and chill.
I was on Carnival Freedom for a Christmas cruise. I understand that it's an older and smaller ship, but there were no fun activities. It was so bad that they had a paper airplane competition and I WENT TO IT!
It was pitiful.
I prefer smaller ships. I don't need all the fluff and I am concerned about evaluation in cases of ship emergencies.
I ❤️ sailing on both Royal Caribbean and Carnival but what I would really like to be a part of is all adult ship. It doesn’t have to be a mega just all ADULT only.
4:53 6th. Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Symphony, Wonder, UTOPIA.
Our last cruise was on Mardi Gras out of Canaveral and it was honestly the best I have been on in quite a while! We're going on Allure this June.
We love the mid size ships like Adventure of the Seas. Much better personal service.
Won’t the Mega ships start to find it harder to dock in some ports?
I suppose the mega ships are great for those that see the ship as their destination. The cruise lines would love it if nobody got off their ships for 7 days, except at their private resorts. My favourite RCCL ship that I was on is Serenade of the Seas. At 90K GT, it was the perfect size for me. Large enough to have plenty of things to do and explore on board, but small enough to feel like you're actually on a ship at sea. The mega ships don't interest me at all, as spending a week trapped in a shopping mall/theme park is not my idea of a vacation. That is just me though.
You are awesome Jay
I love both sizes of ships👍
Viva smaller ships!
Went on Celebration last year, going on Mardi Gras this year, next year it’ll be Jubilee or Icon(hopefully Icon lol). I’m definitely a fan of the big cruises, I’ve been on plenty of small short cruises and they will never compare.
Just go off the Carnival Celebration. Ship is gorgeous but way understaffed. To many people and staff try but they just can’t keep up. Won’t be doing a XL class again.
I have cruised three times only NCL Gem, NCL Escape, and. RCL Oasis of the Seas. My favorite ship was the smallest NCL Gem. It was so easy and quick to get into any entertainment venue or show. Never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to get into the main dinning rooms, if even there was a wait. The food was delicious. I absolutely loved the Mojito bar, it was tucked away in a nice quiet place, not in the open atrium. I loved being able to eat outside at the great outdoor buffet and getting food after a night of partying at O'Sheehans bar and grill. Also, just my experiences, the others cruises just seemed nicer and more civil. Trying to get into the main dinning hall for any meal on RCL was nearly impossible and at least a 45 minute wait. We were supposed to have a set time, but they screwed up. Also both my friend and mine both lost our room key once each, who ever found its, instead of turning them in, used hers to get drinks and mine to get towels, that just makes my blood boil. Now I am looking to book my first Virgin cruise for early 2025.
No one should should complain. The prices will go down on the smaller ships, and bigger ships will bring newer cruisers.
Interesting points in your video. I believe that the Utopia of the Seas is the 6th Oasis class.
Utopia is number 6 they just placed the order for Oasis 7. And we will see Star of the Seas and Icon 3.
These mega ships scare me.
I will be on Icon on May 4th I think the bigger ship the more stuff to do I’m a very social person, so I love interacting with other people. I cannot wait for the 73 days to go by. so I can step foot into the big ship and start my vacation
Hey J, thanks another information video! Personally, I miss Empress of tte Seas, 48k tons 1800 passengers
I see large cruise ships staying, though the size might cap soon with more uniqueness in its place.
With the large Freedom, Oasis, and Icon classes they can achieve large economies of scale. Those ships can have the passenger amount of 2-3 regular (medium) sized cruise ships without the cost of 2-3 ships.
Large ships also offer more features that are easy to market like Icon's waterpark.
And logistically it is far easier to manage fewer large ships than more smaller ships.
That is why i see them staying, and really becoming the cruise type most people go on.
That said, i think we are starting to reach the point where going larger might not be more economical. Shipyards can only (affordably) go so big.
I think more unique/custom ships will them be the trend. Ships between Freedom and Oasis size, but with very custom features. Like a Freedom class that is only 18+. Or something like an Oasis class ship RC builds in part with Universal that is like a floating Universal Studios park.
Essentially, i can see cruise lines moving away from scale and size as the prime marketing tool, towards originality.
Put very simply, large cruise ships now are built like amusement parks, future large ships I see being built like theme parks.
I can’t wait for the discovery class. They told me a few cruises ago Royal is making a new class of small ships to go different places and be able to get under the sunshine bridge.
Supposedly the fuel efficiency is costly and thus bigger ships are being built. Am I finding fewer and fewer ships to sail on.
im not really sure what the future of cruising could be, but i think in a few years the bookings will ease off. i think that everyone has gone crazy wanting to cruise since the big world shutdown, and they missed it so much that they have booked liked crazy but i believe just give it time and it will go back to lower bookings.
I love the idea. Who don't like it have other options to choose from. As it pertains to getting people to behave my go to is to spend money on more expensive ship and travel specific times a year..off peak usually. You sometimes tend ween out the issue when you spend a bit more money on ships that are a lil costly
I cruise both sizes. There's pros and cons to each, depending on what you're looking for. Larger ships have more to offer, making them a great choice for families or those who like adventure. However, smaller ships can fit into smaller ports, offering more destinations.
I read somewhere that Royal is also looking at building some new smaller ships, we prefer the smaller more intimate ships. We have been on Oasis of the Seas and while we enjoyed the cruise there were things we didn’t like. Our cruise next month is on Grandeur of the Seas and looking forward to being back on a smaller ship.
Jay, I am one that does not think bigger is always better. I do think it is a good option. Our first cruise was in the early 2000’s the nest one was 2016 and then 2 recently. I have sailed on RC, NCL and CC. What I have noticed as the ships seam to get bigger the quality some of the service seams to decrease. Not to mention the ability to not get into the more popular venues for shows, or the comedy club.
I would personally see more sailings available such as the Virgin model where the fare is the fare, and no nickel and dimeing you to death. The find is good and the show are entertaining. My wife and I have always kinda looked at cruising as the buffet of travel. IT is a way to sample different locations in one sitting so to speak.
Bigger saves them money. Its cheaper to put 5k passengers on one ship versus splitting them onto two ships. Its a good business decision for Carnival.
Very interesting Justin. I definitely agree that bigger isn’t always better and the prices are out of control. I was hoping that NY would get a new ship but they would have to fit under the Verrazano Bridge so the largest Royal ship that can fit are the Oasis class ships, bigger then that won’t fit.
Yeah but we will have Symphony and I am really looking forward to it! 😊
You have ports that are size limited- case in point where you are Tampa - The Sunshine Skyway bridge only had so much clearance. Carnival is already sending their oldest ships - something has to change - a new port- probably years to come about or more new small ships
I was just on the Mardi Gras, and the rooms seemed smaller. The food wasn't as good as on the Vista that I cruised on last year, and we had long waits for our food in the dining room, so we missed some shows that we really wanted to go to that started at 7 or 730. We generally went to eat at 530pm. They need to hire more chefs and/or chefs assistants and more waiters to assist those who are there! The waitstaff did the best they could, and were amazing! Just WHY are they building that new ship, while they are still paying off the debt! I heard one person say they are never sailing on Carnival again! I am getting close to that point, myself, and I have been a loyal defender of Carnival!
ALL the cruise lines need to improve the food served. They all seem to serve crap food in the MDR and buffet forcing passengers to pay to Xtra for specialty dining just to get a decent meal. That is Just wrong. I also wish that more than Virgin offered adult only cruising.
Mega ships are just not for my husband and I. I can't handle the crowds. Lines for everything, not enough seating in the venues, having to book EVERYTHING from dinner to shows with not enough performances to allow everyone the experience.
One of the biggest concerns is that if there are 5 or 6 ships in port each holding 7600 passengers the ports won't be enjoyable either. Can you imagine 30,000 people trying to see Ketchikan or Cozumel at one time? The ports aren't big enough to support that many people every day. It would be miserable.
My goal in cruising is to see new places and spend time with my teens. We first went on the Allure and found it to be too big for us so have booked our next two cruises on smaller ships, Rhapsody (RCL) and Carnival Freedom. Hopefully the smaller ships don't go away because we still have quite a few places we want to see and while the larger ships are fun to experience, we just aren't into Broadway style shows and waiting in long lines for the flowrider, ice skating, or other similar attractions. We are TOTALLY OK just hanging on the lido deck and chatting in the sun watching the sea view. No need for high-priced extras. We didn't use them anyway when we were on the Allure, so why pay more?
These high cruise prices are being used for the smaller.ships that cruiselines will have to build as their older and smaller ships age out.
I remember back in the 1970s & 80s Qantas had the idea of embracing the advertising gimmick of an exclusively 747 fleet. Great advertising at that time but it created a very real disadvantage which was no smaller aircraft for less popular routes. Possibly the same thing could happen. If demand slumps, there will be a lot of empty cabins. It seems to be a lack of foresight. Thank you for the video.
There are many ports that have travel advisories and in some places there are military activities. (ex: Mediterranean, Red Sea) Also the bigger the ship the less likely it will fit due to size in certain ports.
RC Emerald member here. Freedom class is the largest class for me
Love the smaller ships so you have more destinations. If we wanted a resort we would go to one. Cruising is the journey and the sights not the water slide and the escapr room.
I love to cruise and I don't need a lot of expensive fancy improvements, I simply love being out on the water, I wish Carnival and others could make some kind of price adjustment for single travelers instead of just charging double for a cabin.
im on the 47th sailing of utopia. ill let you know how it goes. got a great deal. under 2k for 4 if us in a balcony.
The one thing I would say about larger ships when I went on wonder of seas. There was no problem getting a seat at the pool any day no matter how many people were on the ship there was always a seat I love large ships bigger is better. Also, you do not feel rough sees as much.
We have primarily cruised Carnival. Was chosen for us (first cruise ever with family) and we just continued. Its affordable and allows us to travel all over the world really. We are looking to try some other line. My sister ONLY cruises with Celebrity. But shes got the bucks to do it. She wouldn't be caught dead on Carnival. I know its not luxury but its fine for us and we get to cruise A LOT.
I'm torn about this. I've been sailing for many years now...I love it. I sail more Carnival than RC, but I'm happy with both. I remember when Carnival largest ship was the "Dream" and I was so excited to sail her. When I did, it was extremely dissapointing. I felt that the smaller ships gave me more personalized service from the staff. Many times I sail solo, it's great when a waiter or stewart sees me at another part of the ship and says hello, calls me by name, stops and chit chat with me. It's great when you start conversations with other cruisers and you see each other around the ship and you call out to each other and just enjoy a visit. I'm thinking these mega ships are going to not be able to have that warmth...that family feeling to them. Too big, too much people. Heck I often wonder how the staff could remember my name when it's a smaller ship....I don't think its going to be the same in these humongous ships. Being recognized, called by name, makes me feel special....and that's something I love about cruising 🙂
My first cruise was on the Carnival Sunsine (formerly the Destiny) from San Juan to the Western Carribean. It was one of the largest cruise ships in 1992. I loved the ship but my only complaint was the hour or so wait to get on a tender (even after my group and number was called to at the boarding area)at the Ports where it was too big to dock. They were well organized but it was just the sheer volume. I haven't been on one of the RCL Mega ships yet, but I wonder, do they need to tender at some ports or do they only dock? I can't imagine 5000 to 7000 passengers and crew waiting to go on the 40 passenger tender boats to shore and return.
Hey Terri in Maryland.we spoke before🖐🏽.. I might be calling you about a land trip instead of a cruise. 😊....
Eventually the cruising trend will slow and more people will take other vacations. When this happens the cruise industry will have to adjust their prices to increase their customer base.
Prices will adjust when supply catches up to demand.
I like Carnival's Dream class ships. I've sailed Mardi 3x. I love the glass shower doors, Big Chicken, Emeril's, Chibang, and their eateries on the Lido deck, but the buffet is a 1/4 of the Dream class and smaller ships which is a disappointment.
I love the big ships because I sail with my kids, who like the amenities that they provide. However, the itineraries are so redundant! I don’t really want to go to Perfect Day again and again.
I agree
No more mega ships unless they have an elevator system like Carnival's Horizon, super efficient. Taking the elevator on the Celebration required advanced planning, a stop at the bar, and acceptance that at least 3 elevators would stop, full of people, without anyone getting on or off.
Walking around Wonder of the Seas was nice and roomy. BUT going to any shows or trivia games was PACKED and often standing room only. They didn’t seem to make the bars any roomier to accommodate the extra couple thousand passengers.
I’m not sure if I dislike the bigger ships cause it’s bigger or just over crowded
I’m just glad that Carnival isn’t trying to build something close to RCL’s Oasis ships, for now though….
The cruise I need more countries and islands to go to. They can be very redundant with their itinerary. They need to come up with safe areas to explore that are different. If at all possible, especially carnival. Because that's who I travel with mainly.
Maybe a cruise to San Andreas, Colombia, South America. And Ireland about 300 nautical miles away from mainland Columbia. Don't know if it's set up for a cruise ship trip though.
Also maybe Cape Verde? If they can handle a cruise ship at their port properly. And offer enough excursions and beaches to cruises
And I agree with you. Jason, carnival buffet which I call Golden corral. Corral. The food is not flavorful enough, often, not spicy and delicious enough. They may need to hire some new cooks from nations that know how to cook better or something. Seems like they have a lot of Asian persuasion back there. Maybe they need some more Italians, Mexicans and Caribbean folk back there cooking
Hate the big ships... build beautiful smaller ships too!!
Can someone please tell me why I would pay so much for Carnival or Royal compared to MSC. Is it that much better? Is the food that much better? I have only done 2 cruises and we're both within the last 5 months and plan on doing 3 or 4 a year. In my opinion I can do 4 MSC or 2 of the others. Is it really worth it for someone like me?
We like the smaller ships 3000 people. They can get into smaller pirts that the larger ones cant. I love to see different ports each day to get a taste of the area and to see if we want to go back.
St kitts is the best port that these mega ships can visit from my experience. Best beach I ever been too.
I love Royal Caribbean Oasis class ships and Carnival's Vista Class ships. We cruise both lines. The ICON is too much ship for Me though. I have the Carnival Celebration booked and then the Odyssey of The Seas. After that I'll just be sticking with Royal's Quantum Class and Carnival's Vista Class ships.
In a left handed way they are pretty much saying the cruise industry isn’t hurting anymore as they continue to raise prices.
Hi
I think in the coming years the cruise lines will realize that not everyone wants to be on a mega ship. They will have to come down on some of those high prices. As a senior who can walk well I don’t want to be on anything bigger than an oasis class ship. To me the carnival magic was the sweet spot, a nice size ship where you could actually enjoy the ocean.
I am loving Carnival Excel Class ships. They are everything Carnival needed to add and upgrade to and about their ships! I don’t think they should go any bigger at all!
Jay it’s the 7th Oasis ship
More people, more time it takes to rescue them. More dangerous. With who knows what coming into the country… Instead of more pools and restaurants they should be asking the Navy how to keep passengers safe from potential threats!
If the ships are double the capacity, they need to double the entertainment spaces so everyones not all crowding in the same spaces. And maybe a scheduling and seating app for shows, rides and buffets. And rather than charging for all the fun stuff by individual usage, allow people to preselect the stuff they will and wont make use off and tailor a cost specific to that for the whole cruise.
