Just pay him already. Cant replace 50/120. It’s impossible. They can’t even get a 30/90 guy right now. Nm not have Pete and another hitter. This would be the worst offense in MLB if pete leaves. Just lay the kid. God forbid the player has the advantage and edge for negotiations. Cuz that’s exactly where Pete is sitting. Mets on an under 500 season, and no offensive additions. They can in no way let him leave. Just give the kid 200 and call it a day.

He wants to get paid but because he's earned it.

to be fair hitters like Alonso are all getting overpaid these days.
Itll happen and in a year no one will bat an eye.

Overpaid is when you don't earn it. I don't think that's in Pete's DNA. He deserves to get paid what he's worth. He's one of the best players in the game and still has a lot of potential. He's a Hall of Fame-level player if can stay healthy throughout his career.@@jayisasalad

$22-$25 mill per year over 8 years. No more than that. He will just be a DH in a few years. Also I believe he won't age well with his size. If he focuses on tone and flexibility then hell yeah. Id go $30mill per year over 8 years.
