Topuria has lived more than 12 years in SP only 7 in Germany and 7 in Georgia. He has spanish blood bc of his grandmother and now his wife children and many Friends are spanish. The climents are argentinian but his boxing coach spanish. He said in a recent interview he loves both Spain and Georgia. So how Lucky are we that he wants to represent us both. Agreed about the momentum shifts in the first round. It's very unusual for there to be three of them in a single round. Both fighters have to have high fight-IQs to make adjustments during a round (instead of needing it from coaches between rounds) for it to happen.
The thing that I find interesting is that both Volk and Israel both went out of their way to set up fights with fighters who would take their belts..Israel got Strickland his visa, had to talk the UFC into giving Strickland the opportunity..Volk faced off with Topuria after the Yair fight on his own, the UFC didn't set it up..Volk told Topuria not to fight Max, after he beat Emmett..The odds of both champions going that far out of their way to ensure that they would fight the guys who took their belts are astronomical..
Congrats Spain! Respect, this is awesome for the country.
We all love Volk, but guys, don't you think that we are trying to grab some magical reason to understand what happened instead of admiting maybe Topuria is currently better than Volk?
