I got to see this show too, but I was 13 - I think the first concert without my parents. A friend got me on stage before the show and I got to play one of the guitars!
quick story: i was 23, had just dropped out of college in florida and relocated to atlanta. was sleeping on a friend's couch, had landed a job waiting tables at a restaurant. had no car. after a saturday night shift, i walked up out of the local subway train station next to the glorious fox theatre and was absolutely floored at how hard the place was rocking and how clear the sound was.... couldn't exactly tell who was playing, so i turned the corner and saw from the marquee that it was pearl jam. i was a fan, but not a super fan at the time. the next morning (easter sunday, i think) i was working the morning breakfast shift. i told my story to a colleague who then informed me that the boys were playing again that night and that the show was going to be nationally broadcast on the radio -- a big deal back in the day -- i made a promise that i would take all the money i earned from the morning shift and see if i could scalp a ticket... i invited my friend to do the same... he said he wouldn't waste his dough on the show but listen on the radio.... luckily for me, it was a busy shift, and i bagged more than $100. so, i took the train home, cleaned up, and went back that night and landed one single ticket front row off center stage left in the balcony (a GREAT SEAT in that venue) and, well, the rest is history. an absolutely blistering show... 2 hours of a band at their power peak in full load gear. They opened the show with just a ton of candles lighting the stage, it was a great first track and then it was game on...IMO, the five set run in the concert that took it next level historic was: Go, Animal, Garden, State of Love and Trust, and Black.... my friend regretted his decision instantly and all he could do was stare at me the next day in disbelief. (like, I can't believe you--who have no reason to blow any money and are living on a couch--knew it was the right call and i didn't.)
My 3rd concert ever. My 18th birthday. Easter Sunday. Eddie climbing into the rafters above the stage of the fabulous Fox theatre during a prolonged jam before the last verse in Once and throwing down an effigy of himself into the crowd… unforgettable, amazing show maybe the best I’ve ever seen… also the day Kurt Cobain was shot dead although not found for two more days.
Very fond memories of taping this off of the radio when it aired back in High School. Replaced the tapes a few months later when I found a CD in the bootleg section.
I believe they recorded the first part in the studio and used the full band part from this show for the Vitalogy album. Guessing Eddie overdubbed new vocals.
They actually played two shows in Atlanta that weekend 4/3 and 4/4 One which played live on the radio. I was so lucky enough to have attended them both! My best friend valet for Dave A the night before the show. Dude was so cool and gave him 4 tix 5th row. 4/4 best show of my life!
@@virginiaknighten4687 "for the ❤️ of the girl... how he makes his getaway!!" Yeah that's good vibes... or if it's raining at a venue.. "Wash" is cool as well lyrically... "oh please, let it rain today..."
@@coopebe10 I can just see Eddie in an earlier concert singing “Wash.” it was towards the end of the set...He was all sweaty, his hair and t-shirt destroyed looking...He was totally in need of a “Wash!” I also love “Long Road.” It was an opening song to a 2006 concert. (I might be wrong on date) There was a cold wind blowing Eddie’s hair...you could see his breath. Anyway it’s also one of my favorites☺️
Blasting this right now, just like I do every April 3rd and all the other times during the past 28 years! This concert is absolutely legendary! Tight from start to finish! Pearl Jam at their best during their golden years!!
This is about as good as it gets, Pearl Jam at their peak IMO, Boston shows a week later r epic as well. Original version of Immortality is brilliant! April 3-4th April 5th all Alice In Chains in honor of LS!! Early 90’s Great time for music!
I heard this when it happened in 1994 on the radio (a few weeks later and it was censored) and thought I would never hear it again. Two months ago, I heard it on Pearl Jam radio on Sirius, and I was ecstatic. Now I'm listening to it here, and I can listen to it whenever I want to. You've made me very happy.
I remember attending this show… changed my life. Had seen them probably 10 times at this point. This show was something special. 2nd favorite show after attending Pink Pop 92.
@@virginiaknighten4687 there was so much happening. The crowd as one of the biggest I’ve ever been a part of. I guess the highlight was Ed dropping on us in the infamous camera leap.
30 years ago today. Amazing. My personal highlights were the Release opener, Satan's Bed, Blood, WMA, incredible version of Porch and Sonic Reducer. This show was probably the first PJ bootleg I ever downloaded and is still one of their best.
2hrs 15 min of pure sonic onslaught. When I listen to this so do my neighbors. Dave drove the train here. His intro to Why Go? is all the proof anyone needs as to why he was their best.
There is always an "I was there" factor that bumps the level of greatness up!! Glad you got to see it, Soldier Field 95 for this guy! Hands down GOAT!!
Beg to differ only b/c I was in attendance at Soldier Field in '95! But I agree completely that Release as an opener gets it into a GOAT category right off.... and the intensity of around the 3 min mark and the beastly baritone and power Ed had during those early and mid 90's... unparalleled! I always loved Dave A cuz of Unplugged... but if they ended the band after he left.... I'd be crying still!! But I'm not a lil' bitch, and it isn't how it happened... with no Ed there is no PJ, but a loss of other members might have been the ebd of an era as well!! Thank God PJ is still kicking out the jams!!
This concert pretty much sums up why Pearl Jam is such a great live band. They never play the same setlist twice and while they have about ten killer songs that they play at every show, you really never know what you are going to hear. This was a big national broadcast that most bands would kill for, and Eddie and the boys played most of the hits in the first hour, assuming that it would only be broadcast for a short time. "Well the radio stopped playing us so I guess we will EFF around now", ripping into the second live version of "WMA," and early "Betterman" and several others that were unknown at the time. Good thing the radio didn't cut away, we all would have missed a legendary show!
Definitely was a tremendously great show!! And it was broadcast on the radio in many cities... but was from the audio cassette days... and b/c it was recorded and broadcast to the Chicagoland area (89.1 FM) but available also in bootleg format ( @ a SoundBoard Quality level and cuz it was broadcast "officially" and before the "official bootleg" days began around the time of the 2000 European tour) Well, 7-11-95 @ Soldier Field is easily the GOAT for me. And coming up right after the GD had played the venue and had left their stage behind (and also was Jerry Garcia's last show) so based on those factors is a great start regardless, but BEING THERE in person.... greatest show these eyes have ever seen and of any band so far!! Wow! What a fucking nite!! Great covers, WMA and The Real Me tags onto Daughter... I could go on and on
The performance of Better Man here is what forms the back drop to the version on Vitalogy - I mean that it's literally this version. There might be a few overdubs/re-recorded parts, but the performance is there!!
Thanks for sharing. An absolutely amazing concert. This was one of those moments in life when you remembered where you were on that day. I, like many, was sitting next to the radio, tape deck ready to record. Playing drums at the time I couldn’t wait to hear Dave play and play he did. He was brilliant! I was saddened when he was removed from PJ. Anyway, thanks again for sharing 👌
Remember coming home from Easter dinner and listening to this with my sister at 11 years old while she recorded off the radio. Such a shame that no video besides Sonic Reducer has surfaced
Thank you 🙏 for making this available for me to listen too. These two cd’s were all I listened to in my ‘87 Mazda b2000 back in the day! This takes me back
Just got this 4 LP set. Used to have this show recorded on 2 Maxell tapes. They broadcast it live on the Purdue college radio station, 04/03/94. Anyway, I lost those tapes long ago. Nice to see that the show lives on. It's one of their absolute best.
I was a kid from Ocala Florida my favorite live album was Lynyrd Skynyrd live at Fox so 20 years later I see Pearl it was so fukn Amazing to follow music and come to this perfect moment in life of loving and discovering new friends good drugs young ❤
#straightfuckingfacts especially since Kurt was less than a week away from being dead and gone and fans left wondering if this fantastic music and an era was gonna come to an abrupt end for whatever reason. But wasn't what happened at all! And sure wasn't gonna happen if PJ had a say about it!!
I believe this has to be the best live Pearl Jam mix I have encountered on RUclips so far. I have all of their albums including the Live on Two Legs and Lost Dogs album. With the exception of the censorship and suppression of Freedom of Speech/Information this is why I love RUclips. Thanks for uploading!
I THINK this is the concert where there is video. When I was at PJ 20 they had an exhibit with alllll kinds of amazing PJ memorabilia from over the years including Ed's jackets, typewriters, notebooks, etc. You weren't allowed to take in cameras/phone cameras...and on a screen this concert was playing on video. The band never released it. To me it's the best show ever played.

Thanks so much for sharing this. Had found this bootleg CD somewhere in Miami in mid 90s and wore it tf out. Probably haven't heard it in 20 yrs. Appreciate you!
I stayed up all night for this to record it on cassette. Had three cassettes ready. Listen to the whole thing. It was 2 am my time in the UK on radio one. Played it back afterwards only to discover the recorder was broke. Then about a year or so later they brought it out on a 3 disc boxset. I was so made up. Took ages to get all three, because the third had to be imported. Had it for years but as time went by it got dog eared and scratched discs etc. This has to be the best of best gigs they did. Absolutely amazing to hear, true raw grunge at its finest. Will love this band til I die.
i still have this double CD, i bought it in an old shop here in Spain back in the 90s. It´s a pirate italian CD called "Pearl Jam, Atlanta the day before". I never regretted it (it cost me a lot of money), despite not having much sound quality
This is two days before Kurt Cobain took his life. Not important to how incredible this concert was... just an observation from my couch here in Seattle. Thanks for posting the audio to this show!
I was at a Smashing Pumpkins show in Biloxi MS on April 8, 94, the day they found Cobain's body. I had been in a car driving from New Orleans listening to mixtapes all day and didn't hear the news until I was in the stadium. BIlly was on fire with emotion and more angsty than normal... came out for an encore of Mayonaise wearing a cardigan like the ones Kurt made famous... someone uploaded the show to YT a few years back.
I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this, but it wasn’t until today I realized Jeff started his bass line from Why Go instead of Even Flow around 14:01 😂
This is an awesome concert!!!! Thank you very much for sharing this amazing concert ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘the audio is fantastic, I just lay back with my headphones on and enjoy!!!

Yea I had this bootleg recorded off the radio as a youngster. A super setlist. My favorite time period was Binaural Tour era I think fron a tecnucal pov, how the band sounded, and they wrre tight ib 2000. 2003 was good too. But late 2000 shows were on point.
I dont know what that means. I went to Towson State College in MD. I liked when Mr. Stone had the richbacher and it was creamy on the US tour so much in 2000. My very first concert to see them live was in 2000. The eleco/acoustic in 2000 was swapped out in 2003. The vocals were far superion in 2000 prior to Vedders goat bah he tends to add to too much in 2003. I am so sick of 10 and 5 against one, and Vitalogy and No Codes constanly being on the radio. Funny now No Code is played hardly at all, but Given to Fly is on all the time. Computer playlisted replaced humans. I really liked this band when I Was younger. May the Lord God and His Spirt be with you.
Wish I still had the recording I made of this from BBC Radio 1. Put tape over the tabs of a Linguaphone cassette because learning French wasn't as important as this show.
Oh I remember those days the old tape over the tabs trick and I also had a cassette recording but I've lost it all though I still have the original VHS recording from MTV unplugged
I remember I heard this on a audio cassette that a not so friend made. It wasn't too good. However, the segue from Rats in to Already in Love was awesome. Another not so friend said while driving in a car with us that Eddie actually said something drunken about Michael Jackson in between songs LOL
Nice!! Just got the 3 disc set in the mail. I see they left off the Vitalogy tracks and Sonic from the set. I'm happy nonetheless to have the set, and to have found this! Thank you for posting!
Pardon my ignorance but it's been about 27 years since I first heard this and I still don't know what "abusing his inner child is" and apparently it's cause I've never been caught. Can anyone shine some light on it for me?
JESUS! That just, whatever... that came out of him at 1:16:05. And that intro! But every time I heard that air raid guitar sound @ 2:05:49, I remembered why that last six and a half minute break off was SO important, and totally worth not holding down the double arrows for a few seconds
And especially because PJ were self-aware enough to know how BIG the band had already become... and Cobain would be gone in less than a week, so no Nirvana anymore... can you say "pressure??" And I'm so glad they kept their shit together!! And have remained level headed and continue to create amazing art... even if it ain't a brand new record... if you get to attend a show, you'll never be the same!! #facts
appreciate the "00:00" you specifically pointed out... if you know PJ but don't KNOW or didn't have the cassette recording you made in your tape deck, or Walkman... well Warchild helped make your life a helluva lot easier to find some truly superior moments during this show!! Thanks Warchild! Hats off to ya, respect
For me, born in '78 and so 13 in 1991... It's been a helluva long, strange trip for me... but a fan has to listen from the start to the finish to try and catch the vibe of what was going on... and then the random Ed banter or "fun facts" were always something that I immediately enjoyed and realized the value of, and after seeing MTV Unplugged (still have my original VHS tape in a box in the basement with the words "MTV Unplugged" written on it even) lol. I knew that this band were "my guys!" Even now, 30 fucking years later!! GOAT in so many ways!!
@@coopebe10 Truth that homie! I saw them first in Lauderdale in 96, at some baseball stadium. TWENTY FIVE thousand people filled every inch of that place, with the stage up behind the center field wall. Normal capacity was supposed to be like 8000 people lol, so it was pushing the seems. But the energy that night… it was BEYOND electric and everyone was so positive and excited. Especially with Hurricane Josephine bearing down on us all, and Eddy saying “Josephine, Josephine… leave us the fuck alone” lol. I was still young enough to hang in center field, constantly avoiding mosh pits and giving my boy’s girlfriend the longest damn piggy back ride ever… with her stank ass cooter on my neck lol. Then saw them years later in Tampa from a badass box sweet… but it was NOTHING like ‘96. I’ll always remember those times
Interesting fact. This version of better man is the version used on Vitalogy. Eddie vedder recorded the first verse chorus and second verse in the studio then the live version was cut in.
That's wrong. The band cut and were recording this for vs initially but decided it didn't fit well on the heavy album. The drums in the studio version don't kick in until the second chorus, the tempo and dynamics are different and the studio version has a string section. This is my favourite version of the song by a long way

Release never fails make me got a goosebumps
Best opener then and still now IMHO
I could barely continue the video for rewinding “Release” lol.
@@coopebe10 I love it the best. “Of The Girl” is another one I love to hear as an opener.
April 3-4th
April 5th all Alice In Chains in honor of LS!!
Early 90’s Great time for music!
I was lucky enough to be in Atl at that time and saw this show, Fantastic venue and the place was rocking, the vibe was amazing
It’s spelled Dave Abbruzzese 💫
Maybe one of the best concerts; ever recorded live!
Why was it censored?
Never mind I figured it out...Duh!!
I remember attending this show… changed my life. Had seen them probably 10 times at this point. This show was something special. 2nd favorite show after attending Pink Pop 92.
There is always an "I was there" factor that bumps the level of greatness up!! Glad you got to see it, Soldier Field 95 for this guy! Hands down GOAT
Oh good lord you were at PinkPop 92...That would have been the ultimate for me! What particular stands out? I’m sure there were a lot.
You attended Pink Pop 92!?!! That’s the greatest show I’ve ever watched. Made me a Pearl Jam fan
18:07 Whispering hands in another tone 👍
I was there. One of the best concerts I ever saw and I have seen MANY!
There is always an "I was there" factor that bumps the level of greatness up!! Glad you got to see it, Soldier Field 95 for this guy! Hands down GOAT!!
26:34 timestamp for myself. Miss when EV used to scream like that!
The best version of Release ever. I remember this version being on a B side of a single.
Dissident had a chunk of the show spread across a coupla CDs as B-sides.
I remember this... it was broadcast over the radio
My favorite era of Pearl Jam. So good with these live performances
*WAS* a great live band.
Eddie's post show DJ'ing was awesome too. I recorded all of live here in Chicago
2nd best concert outside of soldier field. Real energy the whole set and one of the best versions of release, alive, and black ever!!
Ditto... or in the words of Jason Mewes: "word, bitch! Soldier Field like a mofo!" hahahaha
I could go on and on
I was there. Probably one of the greatest one or two shows i have ever seen
This takes me back
I was right there with ya! Wore out these discs for sure.
I remember staying up so late in my bedroom in teeny tiny Stratford-on-Avon to press record on my stereo tape deck ❤
"good drugs" hahaha
they brought an entire world together for one night..
Love your comment...
@@coopebe10 ya know kurt died 2 days after this show.. but Ed mentions him in this show.. so fair to imply, he prob was among last peeps to see Kurt
38:03 that's okay cause I love frogs
This was THE Pearl Jam concert album back in the day. Flawless quality recording of PJ at their best💯
My first time hearing this concert...Absolutely in love with Eddie, the boys and this amazing music
Brings me right back to my '91 Plymouth Laser
Me again Nov '24.... still rocking!

Jack Irons on drums... Tour being cancelled and then restarted... Let My Love Open The Door and Everyday People as unusual covers, Release as the opener and YL as the closer, etc
I'm thrashing around my apartment to Rearviewmirror as we speak. Jesus christ this is the quintessential version of this song.
Had this on CD in the mid 90s.
Amazing to hear it again.
Thank you for the upload.
@@MattMuirhead Wow.. that's good stuff! Thanks for sharing
I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this, but it wasn’t until today I realized Jeff started his bass line from Why Go instead of Even Flow around 14:01 😂
I was fortunate to be at this show. Heard about tickets on the radio, rushed to nearest Turtle records store got in line and got two tickets.
Had this recorded on z100 in NYC and sat thru the entire show elated..love this
Better man with my boy David A. Is just gold
One of the BEST version of Porch, ever! Pure anger and caos...
Whoever made the idiot decision to kick Dave Abbruzzese out of the group is responsible for the demise of Pearl Jam. All energy was lost. So sad.
You can thank Mr. Vedder for that horrible decision.
Still have my cassettes recorded from this radio broadcast. Thank you for this.
Ryan Moore is a god for bringing us this. 🫡
Pure moment of perfection! Thanks for sharing.
Greatest live album ever.
This is an awesome concert!!!! Thank you very much for sharing this amazing concert ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘the audio is fantastic, I just lay back with my headphones on and enjoy!!!
This concert is historic! The absolute best!
Peak Pearl Jam. Peak 90s. Peak human civilisation.
I was there!!!
Melhor show de todos os tempos, pena que não fizeram as imagens.
There is something about this rendition of Black that gets me every time. It doesn’t get any better than this, if you ask me.
45:58 "This song is for Kurt" was he dedicating this to Cobain? I believe at the time of this recording Kurt had made suicide attempts in Rome and was 2 days from death in Seattle :(
Yep
He was reported missing at this point
No video? One of the best shows ever. Black is incredible!!
Yes! This moment was IT! Just wish I was there.
Me recordó inmediatamente cuando lo escuché por primera vez en los 90', claro de un casett pirata, no había dado con éĺ nuevamente, gracias por subirlo 👍
1:03:00 - black
Don't mind this it's just a reminder for myself
First time I heard “tattooed everything”, ....into.... “I take a walk outSIDE”, my chill bumps had to be surgically removed.
The best version of black is this recording here

This is the way Satan's Bed sounds in my head all the time!!
Love the slide guitar (or whatever it is Mike is doing there) on Bugs
Sad that eddie is the only one alive outa chris, kurt and layne 😢😢😢 glad he is still here tho 😢😢😢
Best live version of Release hands down and no I haven't heard them all. No need too.
Esse é o melhor álbum de todos os tempos kkk🤘🏻👏🏻
I have most of this show on cassette. A few songs are missing here and there
The best!
Deep sounds insane
Happy Mother’s Day Jill
GOAT in so many ways!!
had to edit this comment above mainly because I wrote and then fact-checked... And Kurt's death was on 4/8/94, so he wasn't "already gone."
Best version of YGO
I love the cover of the Kiss the Stone bootleg CD there.
This is the "Dissident" live 1994
Interesting fact. This version of better man is the version used on Vitalogy. Eddie vedder recorded the first verse chorus and second verse in the studio then the live version was cut in.
That's wrong. The band cut and were recording this for vs initially but decided it didn't fit well on the heavy album. The drums in the studio version don't kick in until the second chorus, the tempo and dynamics are different and the studio version has a string section. This is my favourite version of the song by a long way
I remember calling the kts company in Italy and ordering this concert on cd. I believe it was $50 , the internet wins this one.
I did the same
are they every going to release the video of this legendary show?
Uow
Before Vitalogy release and Satans bed still original title of..Already in Love... ripping version too
Just got this show on CD. Is the same art on the front cover but the song indifference is missing! Does anyone know why? Thanks in advance
I have this show if anyone is interested, SB quality.
