I wanted to give a shout out to all you Frusciante fiends out there who have been digging the interview I posted. Thanks so much. I have been sitting on this for a long time and I thought it was time to share. Maybe John will check this out and comment on it himself.
Rock on,
Steve
Steve Rosen this interview is a great learning experience for any musician, and the clever, stumbling questions appear to make Frusciante delve into aspects of his own musicianship he’s not previously thought about. Ever honest though, he tries to explain things as best he can, and of course we are all ears. His ideas seem to come from a unique and original perspective so it’s always fascinating to hear what he has to say. Thoughtful, introspective, intelligent, and highly creative, his interviews provoke a different way of doing things, which is exactly what he would wish for us.
Thank you very much for this beautiful relic, much appreciated.
He sounds like his young self
Hi: John definitely felt like talking.
I think you did an excellent job with John.
King is back
I hope similar interviews will surface soon
All kinds of amazing stuff coming. Stay tuned!
Fantastic! Really happy to hear more from John, even if it's 15 years old
Thanks.
i love how John complimented Josh on his solos
Hearing John listing Jonny Greenwood as one of his favourite guitar players just warms my heart. Frusciante and Greenwood are two of the greatest in my book. Love you John and Jonny!
Frusciante is such a remarkable musician; this interview will make important listening for thousands of people. Thank you Steve Rosen for making it available to us - much appreciated ❤️
Hi, Irena: I pulled this from my archive for fans exactly like you! Thanks.
Steve Rosen 42:00 onwards about The Slaughter is a dream ♥️ I can even follow along on my guitar - it feels so so good 😊
@@SteveRosenInterviews Yeah, finding this totally made my day. My favorite guitar player talking about my favorite album by him. Fuck yeah. Thanks so much
People who criticize Josh solos live should really listen to the last couple of minutes of this interview
Thanks.
Really cool to hear him going into detail about Shadows Collide With People songwriting. Cheers, Steve!
Hey, Dale. Thank you.
That was gold. I love that you had some brave questions about how the fuck he is like he is. we'll never figure out
Solid interview. John has influenced various parts of my own playing for sure. His super fans can be a bit much to take though.
Frusciante is the best artist of all time, he has impacted the music of my band Iglesia Indica like no other human being ever. Thanks for the interview, I literally listened to the whole thing and feel more inspired as an artist.
Thanks a lot. That's a high compliment.
Amazing. Thanks for sharing. Shadows is a top 5 album for me for many years so hearing him discuss it here was fascinating.
Extremely fascinating hearing him talking about textural- and anti-solistic playing in the studio, and then literally no more than a year later he goes in the studio to record Stadium Arcadium - one of the most guitar hero solistic albums in rock history!
It really has some most interesting parts, e.g. the section of figuring out that kind of diminished chord in The Slaughter... Thank you so much for uploading this.
Great that’s for publishing
Happy you liked it.
by this time he was making so much music;
its amazing
Conectar con la música de este hombre es lo mejor que me pasó este año.
Larga a vida a John Frusciante.
Gracias.
Mentions Kurt Cobain as one of his favorite rhythm guitarist 🤘
That was an interesting comment for sure.
Thanks man!!
Very welcome.
This is Awesome love John one my favorite guitarist of all time.
Nice. Thank you.
You're the man Steve. How do you not have more subs. You've got gold. Thanks
John on vocals and rhythm, Josh on lead, flea on bass and Dave Abbruzzese on drums.
I wish more interviews with john, rhcp and honestly guitarist and musicians in general was more like this. So interesting, inspiring and educating as a musician and songwriter yourself...!
Well, i have good news. Another Frusciante interview is coming up today! Pre-Californication Interview with John and Anthony.
Thank you for sharing this interview! I'm always very happy when I discover something new related to John.
"Shadows Collide With People" is my favorite album of all time. I completely fell in love with it in 2004.
:)
Comments like these are exactly why I did post it! Thanks.
Thanks very much, I can believe John Frusciante stuff is still coming back, including him!
Welcome.
"I'm sure some day we'll do a record [with explosive guitar solos]"
I'm sad
@@shanecombs1993 I imagined a John/Josh guitar-oriented collaboration album when I heard that. I guess you could consider Ataxia to be that ? Anyway, it's just sad that he kind of abandoned his 00's style.
Hes back now
It will happen now!
Damn! Bro for years I have wondered what kind of mic he records his acoustics with particularly on the early 4 track stuff.
And you asked it. And he says he doesn't remember. Soul crushing. The mic's he mentioned are $30k so that's a no go.
Great interview!
This is a brilliant interview, thank you so much. Always loved how humble Frusciante is, the way he says thank after signing a song or getting a compliment. Truly unique, wonderful musician. I'm so happy he exists.
Many thanks.
Thank you so much for this. It's always great to hear new but old good John frusciante interviews
Most welcome.
Steve “Where Does That Come From” Rosen
Thank you
You got it.
Thank you so much for the upload :) Really appreciate it...
Nice. Thanks for listening.
I really enjoyed the whole interview, thanks Steve. Also, I really liked when you asked what chords John was using and he starts showing them to you and singing quietly (very on tune) the song, 'The Slaughter'. It's definitely an outstanding interview! May I ask you a question though? I was just wondering why you decided to write down the chords?
Hopefully you will get the chance to interview him again!!!
PS: 'The Slaughter' is simply beautiful! The vocal melody, chord progression, lyrics (especially at the beginnig), drums, bass (Mr Flea), and harmony overall.
Hey, Rafael:
Very pleased you liked the conversation. I don't quite understand your question. I didn't write down the chords. Did I? Thanks.
@@SteveRosenInterviews Thank you Steve! So from 42:29 he starts showing to you the chords from the Slaughter song. And at 42:57 we can hear you writing a tab may be on your notebook? I think you just wanted to know all these diminished chords John uses hehe
@@rafaelzagolin1335 think he was just going through his notes brother : ]
This has some great content
Nice. Thanks.
#JOHNISBACK 😃 How cool is that Steve Rosen ???
Very kind, Irena.
Thanks man
Rock on.
Awesome! Where did you get all the guitar pics?
Thanks. I have been collecting guitar picks for over 40 years. Dealing with other rock writers, photographers and stuff.
him trying to learn this slaughter on the guitar with john is like mozart teaching salieri confutatis in amadeus
53:58 ♥
did he say josh plays the solo on “water”? & Chad is doing the drums?…. For 20
Years I thought it was the amazing combination of john on guitar and josh on drums.
What's up with the one "thumbs down" ?
Hi: I guess you can't please everybody! Thanks.
Probably Josh (kiddingggg :P)
Those 3 thumbs downs are from people in Australia who got confused because they down under! 😁🤣
