Thanks for sharing this Steve. I found your channel through Fruitcake Tony's Channel. And it is great to find such a good source of music history, and current affairs. Also, a lost interview with two of the most inspirational musician of their era, thanks so much for that, I know so many people who would love to hear this, looks like I'll be sending PM's for the rest of the weekend!
Thanks for the upload. I guess Johns favorite song off Cali changed over time. Only natural really. He said in fan mail interview that This Velvet Glove was probably his favorite from that album. Also my favorite from that album. If thats possible on an album with so many greats.
I still have never owned or listened to Californication . In fact, the only record I picked up and listened to pretty heavily was SA. UMPP was the first record of theirs I heard in high school pre-John ... but John has been such a guiding life influence for many people, not excluding myself, for more reasons than just his music. After his first departure and the release of Usually Just A T Shirt / Niandra La Des, all I wanted to hear was his music. His entire library/discography that built up during this stint and into his second departure is by far much more interesting and ground breaking than anything the Chilis have ever done or ever will do. Which isn’t to say they suck - it’s just a different thing that has become too predictable for my tastes.
It has no point is just what it is , first solo album had a lot of things from 1991 to 92 and the better song from niandra are from 91 i think , the second album was just made to make money to buy more drugs acording to john
What a great interview. Makes me so excited for their new album.

18:37 So the chorus riff from Purple Stain ("Jimi Hendrix sounding section" -> Castles Made Of Sand) used to be a part of a BSSM outtake? That's new.
Best band in the world.
Definitely. You’re not going to find the same chemistry between band mates anywhere.
Angela LaPlante I dunno? What about Led Zeppelin.
Jon Chooso Rabooso yeah. My sons name is Zeppelin. They’re second best.
@@angelalaplante1451 U2 have insane chemistry also
Alfie Adnett I hate U2. Didn’t think of them.

11:14 Apparently he missed the whole point of John's reasons for playing the way he was at the time.

@@edybocman76 so the point is that it has no point? I see.....
a lot of songs on smile were also recorded in 91-like 93 when he wasn’t doing it for money. it was only released for money @@edybocman76
