- The January 6 committee investigating the deadly attack on the Capitol is reportedly deciding whether to interview Ginni Thomas - the Republican activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas - about her efforts to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss. The move comes after a series of Thomas’s texts were made public in which she urges Donald Trump’s then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the weeks following the election to take action to prevent a Biden victory. Justice Thomas is the only justice who dissented in the Supreme Court’s decision a few months ago that led to the release of White House documents around January 6. We speak with Ian Millhiser, senior correspondent at Vox, who calls Ginni Thomas “a cheerleader at the highest level” for the attempt to overturn the election. “When you’re a judge, you can’t sit on a case where your wife has an interest,” says Millhiser. “If Clarence Thomas knew that his wife was potentially implicated in this scandal, I think he should have recused himself from this case.” Millhiser’s latest piece is headlined “Clarence Thomas’s long fight against fair and democratic elections.”

Now, after Mitch McConnell packed it with alt right judges for the express purpose of denying poor Americans the rights to which they should have. I am tired of people who should know better calling this alt right cult conservative. It isn't conservative to violate the Constitution to give white Evangelical Christians a voice in politics. Ronald Reagan did that. It isn't conservative to weaponize gerrymandering to the point where people's votes do not count in order to keep power and repress the voices of citizens. The Constitution, a living document to deal with current issues as they arrive, still says one person, one vote. Why then isn't Republican gerrymandering unconstitutional? It has been used by the current Republican party to suppress votes. If the Supreme Court has been made irrelevant because of political bias (Mitch McConnell's artwork, he kept violating the Constitution long ago, so why hasn't he been expelled: power). The only way to save our country and fix the Supreme Court which has become a Kangaroo Court, is to expand it so that it represents ALL the people, not just the radical right. The are supposed to interpret the law, not make it. When a Supreme Court has ti justify an opinion by using a 17th century lunatic who believed in witches as justification for overturning a 20th Century American decision, the American people should seriously doubt the mental stability of the author and consider deliberate perjury as a means to be confirmed as a Justice.

Yes, democracy becomes an obstacle, an obstruction to continuing the system that allows them to get rid of (deregulation) or put in place laws that filters the wealth to them. Because in a true democracy the people can elect people who could change things, people who could enact transparency, etc. This they fear the most. The voter suppression they are putting into place, some of which the conservatives in the courts have okayed, it's another step in that direction. Voting is the pillar that holds up democracy. Voting is the founding principle that started this nation, "no taxation without representation". Yet here we are.

I’m so sorry but G. Thomas was not a cheerleader. She is the wife of a supreme court justice who had access to the White House chief of staff and felt she could influence him. I believe as a lawyer she knew exactly what she was doing and saying. The Jan 6 investigation has been taking way too long and seems to be walking on eggshells. The American people deserve better.

Nothing like four more numbnuts who don't know the law. Supreme Court justices are NOT bound by the same judicial ethics code that apply to other federal judges. Doesn't seem fair, does it? But that's the law. The law you don't care enough to research. In any event, the decision to recuse (or not) is completely discretionary with each justice. No resign. No impeachment. No censure.

I rather doubt it in this case. Thomas already proved he doesn't take bribes. He rejected the ENORMOUS bribes from the pharma industry to support their Vax Mandates. Pharma distributed BILLIONS in bribes to push those mandates, yet Thomas blocked them. That was a MUCH bigger deal, with WAY MORE MONEY AT STAKE. He probably could have cleared MANY MILLIONS in bribe money from Pfizer had he been willing to take their bribes.
Thus, it's quite unlikely he took bribe money for this much smaller issue.

Oh judges are biased for sure like the judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse case. Even if you grant him self defense, he was guilty of having the gun illegally and carrying it across state lines. It is still hard to determine if Ginni Thomas is actually carrying out acts-like renting buses and so forth-at Clarence’s behest and those who control him. If Flynn and his active-duty brother are more active than we’ve suspected, one of the first acts of any potential military junta is to secure or eliminate the judiciary. In the case of our government, a justice loyal to their cause could be profoundly helpful. It’s so frightening that the coup-plotters have been so seemingly organized and powerful-we still only have hints of just how organized they are, and how much of the military they can actually muster under (?)’s command.

People are questioned for jury duty; they are asked questions:.....if they are a witness for the prosecution they can't be on the jury. Jurors get asked numerous questions, and many are not eligible to be a juror in certain legal cases.

The Supreme Court of the United States is an institution that is supposed to be beyond reproach. Ideally, we only send the most worthy of the most worthy candidates to this position. There are no committees or commissions to oversee the ethics and standards of these Justices, they are self policed, self assessed, self controlled. It is therefore essential that these Justices conduct themselves in a manor fitting such a position. If SCOTUS is incapable of conducting themselves in a candid and overt manor, then checks and balances must be initiated. Otherwise there is nothing stopping a President from installing a group of Justices who are planted there to unfairly rule in favor of President. While Trump was not the President that sat Justice Clarence Thomas on SCOTUS, it is obvious that the Thomas household has strong opinions in favor of the Trump Administration, and looking back at his rulings, one can easily see these opinions do guide Justice Thomas's rulings.
Most notably, Justice Thomas's most recent ruling, where he was the lone descent in a case that involved his wife. It doesn't take a Political Scholar to see the obvious conflict here, and to see Justice Thomas's decision not to recuse himself from the case shows his desire to compromise the Institution of SCOTUS in an attempt to cover up wrong doings where his wife was directly involved. And no intelligent person will believe that considering the relationship the Thomas's have, that Clarence didn't know what was coming down the pipe.

It's lawful to be in a facebook picture posted to the site as well. But according to RICO law, if youre in a facebook picture with known gang members, you can be tried for the same crimes as the gang members in the shared photo. Justice Clarence's wife may have lawfully been on the lawn but the fact that she was on that same lawn, participating in the same event that bled into the capital, under RICO law, she and everyone else on that shared lawn that day is guilty by association.
