    For East Coast Indiana skiing would you go for the Poacher over the Reckoner 102 just due to it being stiffer/more powerful? You said hard snow and chatter and it lost me haha. We ski on ice most nights so probably not a good idea to go 102. I am a freerider looking to work into the park. What would you recommend? The poachers seem like a good middle point.

      Yeah, I think Poachers will have a better mix of performance for you. Better firm snow performance and still a playful shape. Reckoner 102 doesn't feel like the best ski for Indiana.

    I am looking for a good western ski and have been looking at the Reckoner 102. I currently ski the J Skis Masterblaster, which is definitely more of a directional/heavier ski. It is great for ripping on firmer conditions, but looking for something lighter and easy to pivot/swing and ski bumped-up and softer terrain and powder. Not sure if I should step up to a 112 and take both on trips out West (Utah and Colorado), or would the 102 be more versatile and suit me just as good? Thanks.

      Hey Liza! I think the Reckoner 102 and Masterblaster might be slightly too close in width for that to make sense. On the other hand, they are very different and check all your boxes in terms of being lighter, quicker, easier to pivot, etc, but the 112 is hands-down a better powder ski and is surprisingly still versatile. To me, the 112 makes a little more sense since you already have a ski that's 99 underfoot. I think it basically comes down to how you'll be using the Reckoners. If you think you'll use them a lot regardless of snow conditions, maybe 102 makes more sense, but if you're thinking of it as more of a soft snow specific ski, I'd go 112 I think.

    Longtime snowboarder but I’m a beginner/intermediate rider looking for everyday driver all mountain/freestyle skis, I was thinking the revolt 95/104 or k2 102. I live in SoCal so I don’t see much deep snow or fresh powder. Most of where I ride is man made groomers. Which would be better suited for the conditions I ride or any other suggestions?

      Hello! I would go with either the Revolt 95 or the Reckoner 102. The shape of the Revolt 104 is more soft-snow focused, so I don't think that's the best option. Obviously the Reckoner is almost as wide, but its shape is better on firm snow and I think its overall feel works better for you. Revolt 95 will give you more edge to edge quickness, so that might be the way to go. I'd actually bring up the K2 Poacher as another option... that ski is closer to the Revolt 95 in width and may be better for the conditions you ride most often.

    HI!
    Great news, but are there some significant technical changes (except design) compared to the model 2021?

      I just talked to a K2 employee before buying myself a pair at Epic Mountain Gear and he said it is the same ski with just a different graphic.

      Nope, no changes to shape or construction, just a new topsheet graphic.

    Hey, I'm a beginner park skier, and I've been looking at the reckoner for skiing mainly park and a bit of all mountain, I'm 6ft 3in, will the 184cm be long enough?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Hey Jacob! Sorry for the delay getting back to you. 184 cm is certainly long enough for you, especially at your ability level and how you'll be using them. Hope that helps!

    You think these are good for glades at smugglers notch( black hole, shake down) ? Thanks

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Definitely! Nice long rocker profile, so they're pretty maneuverable and agile when you need them to be, but then the use of metal gives them a strong feel underfoot, so if you happen to hit some firmer snow (which certainly happens around here) it doesn't feel too sketchy or unstable.

    I'm thinking of purchasing these skis but don't know the size. I'm Just a little bit over 6 feet and deciding what size I need. I ski a 171 now but was seeing if I could maybe go to a 184. What do you think?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Hi Konrad!
      I think they feel a bit short due to the rocker profile and the weight. I think the 184 will be just fine--perhaps a jump from the 171, but nothing that can't be overcome with time and effort. Have fun, great skis!

    Hey I am looking for a free ride ski for out west. I am looking for something I can play with but can also handle out west conditions. Is this a ski that you would recommend for that? Thanks so much.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Yes, absolutely. The Reckoner 102 is a ton of fun to ski. Very playful even here on the east coast, and enough width to take out west into some deeper and softer snow conditions too. Go for it!

    What size ski were you guys using in the video? 177 or 184?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      There's actually both in this video. Bob (yellow jacket) is on the 184, Jeff (tan) is on the 177. Sorry for the delay getting back to you!

    I'm just under 5'8 and weight 155lbs. Will the 170 fit me for all mountain use?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      I think that length is right on the money.

    I ski more directional but want to learn to ski switch and learn to do some freestyle stuff while not loosing all-mountain versatility. Would you recommend the Team or Mid-sole line?
    I’m 5’10” and bought the 177 length.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Hey CB! The mid-sole mark on that ski is still relatively centered. I think that would be the best spot for now. As you start to develop your switch skiing, some day you may want to go further forward with another ski or something like that, but i think mid-sole will satisfy your current directional skiing and certainly won't screw up their ability to ski switch.

    I ride the 2020 poachers right now. How do you think these would compare? Looking for a daily driver for VT skiing.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +2

      The Reckoner 102 is lighter, softer-flexing, and more energetic than the Poacher. Super fun and really quick for VT trees. Carves well too thanks to the way they use carbon, just not quite as powerful as the Poacher I'd say. In my opinion, it's a great VT ski for someone who skis a lot of trees, un-groomed terrain, and maybe dabbles in the park a little too.

    How would this ski hold up on moguls?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Hi Bradford!
      The flex is right there, but they're wide. As such, the more spaced the bumps, the better this thing will perform. Softer, too. If you're looking down a tight and icy line, I can think of better options, but for wider and softer moguls, Reckoner 102 is fantastic. Have fun!
