The late great Teddy Pendergrass on lead vocals....
Icon
Really?
Most people thought Teddy was Harold Kevin for a long time! 🤔
Teddy Pendergrass was always the lead singer.
@@PaulaCollins-pz5rdYeah really! The Original singer of this song.
Nobody sings it like Teddy P. !!! The man was a legend. This song melts panties!
Asia & BJ, you’ll love their “The Love I Lost” and "Wake Up Everybody"!!! Teddy Pendergrass had a special voice for sure!!
I just recently discovered “the love I lost” and I think it’s amazing. Definitely recommend.
Yes...Wake up everybody is my fav. I don't know if they did it yet!??
Grateful dead .Riding that train
Special is a understatement.
What an amazing slow jam, powerful lyrics. Teddy pendergrass is one of my favorite voices.
My parents, aunts and uncles called this "grown folks music" 😊
Iconic, one of the best R&B groups of the 70s with that Philadelphia sound, can’t be beat😊
Oh wow. This is great hearing the fabulous Teddy Pendergrass. Love his soulful voice and this song. My other favorites he sang with the Blue Notes were “Wake Up Everybody” and “The Love I Lost”. I remember feeling really sad when I heard he passed away. Thanks Asia and BJnfor reacting to this. Loving it. 👏👏🇨🇦
I'm 72 years old and when this song was played we did what we called the "grind". It was hot and heavy! Teddy's singing made you feel like "grinding"! 😂
This song is legendary. One of the greatest slow jams.
Such a beautiful classic about a true love, at least to my 60+years.........These young men had so much talent!
A classic and a classy tune. Their catalog is pretty deep. Teddy's a legend.
I absolutely love this song. Thank you so much for doing this one.
I so love classics. Although I do occasionally wish I was young again, I feel so lucky to have grown up in this great era of music!
Wow! Thank you for finding this. It's just a great song.
"Not everybody PH-balanced the same way." BJ, you were in rare form with this one! 🎤🎶💙
This is an incredible song , sung by the phenomenal Teddy Pendergrass. RIP sir!
What you are hearing is a man singing from his heart.
This is a great song. They have a remix of sort titled "IF YOU DON'T KNOW CHRIST BY NOW". Yes it is a gospel rendition of this song.
I used to belt this out as a young teenager in the early 70's in Middlesbrough, England every time it was played on Radio Luxembourg, which drifted in and out of the airwaves, on Medium Wave 208. Brilliant!
Radio Luxemburg! I'd forgotten but you are so right.
I loved this group back in the 70’s, Teddy Pendergrass was fantastic with his voice, & so sexy!👍♥️♥️
Preach Sister
Excellent Choice Great Song...❤
Classic soul. Thank you guys for doing this. It blows anything made today away.
Love me some good old school soul and r&b music from the 60s and 70s era.
Somebody all ready said it, the late great Tp on lead vocals!
Heard this for the first time watching Soul Train in the 70's, good job y'all
The LEGENDARY Blue Notes featuring THEODORE PENDERGRASS aka the voice 💙
I saw them back in the 70s at the Beacon theater in New York City. Teddy drove the women crazy.
Love them. Saw them in person. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for a very special memory ❤
I'm blasting this with you 2...wishing I was with you! Hey, that rhymed!❤
I wish they still made music like this ❤
This is one of those songs that should have never been covered by any singer or group, because you cant compare anything to a masterpiece and this is a masterpiece
If I remember correctly (I'm 67) this song is from the early 70s, maybe 1973 or 74. I was in High school at the time, and It was and is, one of the most beautiful songs ever.
Thanks for the memories you guys.
Nobody sings this song like Teddy P does.. No surprise Asia got goose bumps listening to this track.
What a great R&B & soul group from the 70's. Teddy Pendergrass was their lead singer before going solo in 1976. They had some great songs such as "The Love I Lost", "Wake Up Everybody", "Bad Luck", "I Miss You", "Hope That We Can Be Together Soon", "Don't Leave Me This Way" etc.
Teddy Pendergrass singing lead. Interesting note is that the song writers are singing backup.
We called this belt buckle polishing music.
Asia and BJ, this is REAL MUSIC 🎶 front the SOuL. You'll ❤️ "Bad Luck ", "Hope that we can be together soon, "."I miss you ", "Where are all my friends?", "Don't leave me this way", "You know how to make me feel so good" and more by Harold Melvin and the blue notes with Teddy Pendergrass ad lead vocals🎶🎶🎵🎵!
Hi guys, I’m a 74 years old soul music fan. I have been exclusively listening soul music since 1968. I love soul music especially harmony groups, so this song is my routine listening one. I like also 70’s soul, because back instrumentals were often full orchestra, especially in Philly soul like this.
My fav slow jam. Every time I hear it, I begin to move. 💞
Philly's own Teddy Prendergast. This song is the jam
Teddy Pendergrass was a big help for me as a young man. I could play his music with a date and it was always a good night at the end. Listen to that man sang!
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes were the original recording artist for this song. This came out in 1972 when I was in HS, and it was a huge hit. it's an all-time favorite of mine. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks so much for this reaction! ✌💙✌
Lead singer Teddy Pendergrass went solo. Some of his songs that are beautiful are Close the door, Love TKO,
This knocks Simply Reds cover into a cocked hat, Teddy had an amazing voice!
Simply red nailed this song.
They may have even done it better
@@rickyarme2317
@@rickyarme2317it was good but not as good as this.
Excellent song. Saw him in concert Providence, R.I. Great Show ! He sounded just as good live. Great request.
Steely Dan - Peg, Babylon Sisters, Show Biz Kids, Don't Take Me Alive, Kid Charlemagne, Fire in the Hole.
This song is a reality check dealing with relationships. He's checking many of us with real issues that we sometime fall short of understanding in our relationships.
I remember dancing to this song in the gym in our socks at our proms and homecoming’s dances 69-72
Teddy Pendergrass was our hometown pride and joy in Philadelphia. He wasn't born here but he should've been! He was loved!!!
Ohhh myyyy!!!!❤❤❤ I know this one too well💯❤️🔥💯❤️🔥 SMILINGGGG🥹🥹 Ty🙏
The Genius of the LEGENDARY Iconic Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff
Great classic
Born and raised in Columbus, right between Motown and Philly Soul. We had it ALL in the 70's. Teddy was ALL that for all ages!
This song is a great example of people listening to the melody and not the lyrics If you hear the lyrics it's saying after all we've been through either you're gonna ride with me or let's go our Separate ways because I can't keep living like this and neither Can you this is a beautiful warning love song Thank you guys for your reaction this is a great example of lyrics versus melody
one of the best ever, wish I still had the album
May he rest in peace. A one of kind. Their never be another.
Awesome classic 👏👏
Asia and BJ. This should be the song you two listen to whenever you have any kind of disagreement. The two of you have a fantastic relationship, and I hope it lasts forever.
I heard this song when I was a mere lad way back in the 2oth century during my teenage years. My only wish was to one day find someone who fits me like glove the way you two do.
The next step is to play some romantic music. Here are a couple of suggestions.
PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH by Barry White.
KEEP COMING BACK by Richard Marx.
PILLOW TALK by Sylvia.
Enjoy
another one I love-your posts are making me happy tonight. Well-sort of-between this and Etta I am a bit tearful. Thanks for the reactions.
So very, very good. A classic imo.
💕 'What Becomes of the Brokenhearted' by Jimmy Ruffin. 🎶
Its amazing. So mellow
Love this song.. a classic slow jam.. 🔥
One of my favorites! Takes me right back to being in a teen listening to all the great songs of that time.
My jam from my high school days 90's " young gangsta" lol 😆
Thank you so much, my kind of music
I watch and listen to most all reaction videos. You guys are the best and greatest. I watch you guys every day. Asis is beautiful as usual. B J you are a lucky man. As always keep up the good work.
Now you need to hear, ((SIMPLY RED)) singing this, more than amazing...🎉🎉🎉of course no one can sing it like the originals, and yes these are definitely the one and only originals!! Absolutely love this song 🎼🎼❤❤♦️♦️🎵🎵🎶🎶
Awww, great oldie guys. So mellow and chill🍂. Thanks so much for reacting to this one!🧡
During the Disco era this was one of the most popular songs
A classic I danced to many times. ❤
What a great song know it my heart
Great 70's music!
Teddy P. One of the greatest singers ever.
Those magical musicians at Sigma Studio in Philly. They backed up so many performers.
Also, a few years later the Eagles producer tried to arrange the intro to "Take It To The Limit" to sound like the intro here.
FYI. This is only half of the song.
great music from my time.. still have their records.
So glad you did this version! ❤
Lawd have mercy, the Teddy Bear❤
B. J. 😂 your people sound like fun!!!
You nailed it, Asia. The ultimate high school slow dance song. I should know. I was in high school back then. Thanks for asking the question, BJ.
Thanks for the memories!
A classic love song
Simply Red also did a version of this song and i like there version also.
A "Birth Certificate" classic.
How much virginity was lost to this masterpiece ??
Another great Soul Band out of many that are from "PHILLY". .
Asia, BJ: Mustard AND/OR Ketchup!!! Wow. You kids live on the wild side 😉
This track: A Gamble and Huff classic.
Asia...I just luv ya guys!!
Great music that appeals to everyone
I love love love this song ! This group is great ! This song and Etta James At Last are 2 of my favorites! They are on my favorites list !😊 Please listen to Let It Be Me by Jerry Butler and Betty Everett. You will love it ! 😊
Asia and BJ the best!!! 😂
Please do more songs like this! This song is a classic and it’s timeless!
I miss you and the love I lost are great songs. You can't go wrong with the legend Teddy Pendergrass on lead vocals
Simply Red did a great rendition of this song, so timeless and great.
This is another great classic soul song, I still know all the words to this song; Simply Red did a great cover of this song
When I first heard this song, I thought of a longer term relationship going through some things.
BJ, love the BRAVES cap ⚾️ They kicked Colorado's butt tonight ❤
I'm in my 50's, to black folks my age it reminds us of when our mama's and daddy's were still together. Before the big Double D, Disco and Divorce.
Smooth. What else can one say! Thanks.
Teddy Pendergrass delivering the chills from the jump as always. God, he was amazing.
Teddy Pendergrass, Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Barry White, James Ingram, great masculine voices
Also, Simply Red covered it too!!
At the end you can almost see him drop to his knees.
This song was covered by Simply Red in the 80’s , and I also love Patti LaBelle’s live version. It was one of those classics, but I think y’all missed the song meaning, you can slow dance to it yes, but it about a possible break up or divorce…
We know that but if you were around back then And at at parties they did play this song to slow dance to. It was one of those grinders
@@nkcbrazilaren't grinders sandwiches? 😂
