Thanks for taking the video and uploading it, it helped me do the same install on my softail slim, wow! Much more comfortable riding position for me and I love the look.
Thanks for this video...as always clear and instructive. I changed my risers yesterday and no issues. I found it easier to attach the top studs before the main risers as I was struggling to fit the rear ones.
No problem Andrew, thank you for taking the time to view and comment👍. They have really made a difference to my riding position and comfort as well as greatly improving the view from my mirrors. Any bigger and you would defiantly have to also change the brake line.
Thanks for posting. what was the cost for parts. ? shame you didn't get some footage of you on the bike so we could see position before and after new risers.
If you cant get them from you local HD Dealership then a couple of sites I use that usually cover most things are :- Hogparts or ARH custom. Both sites give good service. Hope that is of some help
Very informative video!! Just bought a Harley and the guy I bought it from put the angled risers on BACKWARDS!!! Why? I don't know!! I am going to put them on correctly because it makes me lean too far forward AND the handlebars are straight across which makes matters worse. My question is, what drive torque wrench should I use for the riser 3/4 bolts? Can I get away with using a 3/8ths drive or is it a must to use a 1/2 drive??? I'm just wondering if the 3/8ths drive I already have will work or do I have to go out and buy q 1/2 inch drive and socket?? Thank you so much for any info!!!
Hello Elliott, thanks for watching my video. If the torque wrench you have (3/8th drive) can be adjusted to 40.7 to 54.3NM or 30 to 40 ft pound then that will work just fine mate. Hope that is of help
Great video , Thankyou , I,m going to do the same on my SG , that red thing on the lower clutch cable that you have to push in , does that give the cable a bit of slack also how do you like the risers when you ride it .Cheers
Hello mate, yep it give a little slack but try without it as Im not sure it made that much difference. As for the risers, Im so happy with them. My riding position is so much more relaxed and comfortable (Im 5'6") and you get a great view from your mirrors. Without doubt one of the best mods I have done. ride safe & enjoy👍
@@My_bike_and_me I tried removing it without loosening the clutch cable but it was too hard for me... Once I worked out how to loosen it up from your video it was easy... The hard bit was working out how to reset the clutch cable but I found another video on that and it was a really interesting and easy process... It surprised me how that worked!
Just put these on mine... Two things... First is the rear allen bolts I had to tighten up with an allen key because I don't own a crow foot spanner. So no idea of what I managed to torque it up to there... I torqued the front bolts of course.... Also I noticed the two main bolts underneath didn't have loctite on them when I removed them so I didn't put red loctite on the replacements. I figure if they don't do it with the stock ones why make it hard to make any future changes?
@@My_bike_and_me Oh absolutely it makes it more comfortable... I am only 5'7" and might have liked them even a 2" longer eg... the 6" ones... but installing the 6" ones would have been nasty with all the cable lengthening... So I am happy enough with the 4" ones!
@@aussiemotolife347 I think the cost of the cable & brake lengthening would be a lot more than the risers so quite a costly mod if you did go for bigger risers
@@My_bike_and_me Hi, thanks for replying. I havent done anything yet. Debating whether to do risers ir just get different handlebars and keep the chrome clamp plate.
Those 4" risers look perfect for that application. Did you buy them right from the Harley-Davidson dealer, or, did you go through an outside vendor? Doug🏍️👍
Sorry mate, without removing them I have no idea. I suggest you pop down to your local dealership with the risers and get them there. Sorry not much help Im afraid🤷♂️
Hi Mario, I didn't need to extend the brake line. 4" risers are about as high as you can go in my opinion without extending the brake. All I had to do was re route the clutch. If you want to go higher than 4" then you will have to buy a cable extension pack
Hello Frank, My concern with 6" risers is that the brake line will be far too tight. My advice after fitting my 4" risers is that anything bigger will need a new extended brake line. Hope that is of help
