Using a straw primarily produces a "mixed" setting, whilst also elongating the vocal tract - so you might find you can access higher notes with greater ease.
@@FiveMinuteCall Hey I’m trying to do these excercises and around d4 e4 f4 I feel immense stress - like a weight my throat can’t lift. G4 is impossible. I feel that my voice is more soother, clear, and resonant with other notes, but every time I hit those I just can’t get a clear output Any reasons why/ exercises aimed at that? I’m getting to the point where I think it isn’t possible to fix it.
Thanks for this. I think this is more challenging than just a normal vocal exercise. Just 1 question. My throat feels like its expanding, is it just fine?
This is actually a normal sensation. As you add more resistance your vocal tract will expand slightly due to the pressure - and you can often feel this. Just make sure it still feels balanced, so don't overload with too much pressure!
That's optional. You can run through the whole exercise for a good workout, or you can choose your favourite exercises, or note ranges, for something more targeted. :)
@@Jacobsvocalacademy so it's not really related to this video, it's just a general doubt. Also if it is to be done according to a schedule then pls tell me which time of the day would be most suitable. Okay, just this last question. Are your warm-ups just for a warm-up or do they improve the vocals if you do them everyday?
There's a couple of things to be mindful of here. It's likely that these notes are across a break, so you'll need to work to strengthen them and help to blend and transition across them. There's also the factor of the breath, and that the breath pressure requirements change with pitch. So you might need to explore boosting the breath pressure slightly for lower pitches.
Yeah, its probably the breath. Low notes need to be backed up with a bit more support. Remember keep your chest/shoulders relaxed breath with the belly.
Yes, these exercises are designed specifically to take advantage of the physics of straw phonation. There are certain airflow, acoustic, and pressure interactions that are modified when using a straw, and we leverage this to provide an athletic style workout for the intricate muscles of the voice.

Sir my voice has changed already i'm 17 and i started singing now so can i hit all these notes i can hit all notes except the upper three and how long it will take to learn to sing
Yep, saliva will naturally accumulate as a result of the direction of airflow. I recommend maybe backing off the breath pressure slightly to find a more gentle airflow configuration. This should help reduce this.
Your voice should feel like it's had a workout, but never overworked. It might be that you're training with too much resistance, and if so, find a wider, shorter straw to work with.
