I’m going to puke if I read one more “underrated” or “criminally underapreciated” comment on youtube. Tori Amos is not underrated, she is an awarded musician, with several albums on top ten of billboard charts, very apreciated by music critics and has been ten times on Letterman. She has an amazing career, she gives shows in the best places, I first saw in the ninetie in the Royal Albert Hall in London. Those underrated comments are ignorant
Maybe I didn't explain myself in a way you can understand. Tori Amos is an amazing artist, she is awarded, has a very good track in terms of albums sales, sold out venues, good reviews in the press, etc. She is an highly respected artisti. When you say that she is underrated you are ignoring all her commercial or artistic achievements. That is an uninformed comment and, pardon my French, it´s just silly. I love you Tori, you are not underrated, in fact you are a top composer/singer
I completely agree with your first comment, maybe Google Translator is distorting the meaning of my thoughts. There are a lot of comments about how Tori is underrated, it looks stupid, maybe they don’t know her biography well or don’t understand well what it means to have a position in the charts of different countries, etc.
First show after 9 / 11. How she chose to perform Tom Waits' "Time"... As ever, Tori infuses meaning with every word, every look, every breath... She is simply soul-melting.
This video takes me back!! I was in high school watching her perform ‘Precious Things’ when it aired and became an instant fan. Since he was plugging the Under the Pink album for that song, I went out and bought that CD. Then discovered it was on Earthquakes and had to go buy that one. Then watched every single Letterman performance since then. She was a staple on his show for many years.

I'm not going to lie I'm going to be 36 soon. I was there in the transition from cassettes to CDs. I don't remember the long box at all... How weird. Apparently they served a transitional purpose to put CDs in the same bins originally used for vinyl records. Basically there was nothing special about them, nothing extra really, they were there mostly to fill a void so that the CDs wouldn't get engulfed into the shelves. I decided to learn something new (old) thanks to your comment. Haha
@@lindsay556 I remember some of the long boxes would have information about the artists sometimes printed on the back.. Yeah most of the time it was just a waste of cardboard. I think it was also used as an anti theft, before they came up with those plastic ones that always took the cashier forever to open 😂

I am 65 and only found out about Tori Amos this evening. Honestly, until now, she was only a crossword-puzzle answer to me.
And I always give a little squeal when she shows up in the NYTXW. 🙂 Welcome!
No one compares to her till this day
One of the best singer-songwriters alive. To say she is underrated it is an understatement.
She has a reported net worth of $60 million. She’s done all right.
Precious Things, that is how I got to know her. Playing that Song on Letterman. Lifechanging Performance.
Wow thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
some of her best live performances... Time, Father Lucifer not of this world...transcendent!
Great great recopilation, in Spain I couln´t see any of these performances, it's great to see how Tori was growing year after year... Thanks a lot!!!
The Tom Waits cover is so beautiful. I got to listen to this album again.
She is so gorgeous always but she looked so stunning during Father Lucifer omfg. I wish I was her
Such a nice collection! Love it!
Thank you for this.
What a fantastic performer. What a writer of music and lyrics. What a voice. "Silent all these years" is such a achingly beautiful song and message.
It's interesting to hear Tori Amos' music deepen and get better and better..not to mention watching her growing more beautiful as the year go by.
Yeah this woman was a quick buy for me back in my college days. I own at least 4 of her discs and the way she rides that piano bench will always hold a special place in my dreams.
Best comment!
Many have poor taste in music and lack the education to understand Tori, much less compare with others.
There are a lot of comments about how Tori is underrated, it looks stupid, maybe they don’t know her biography well or don’t understand well what it means to have a position in the charts of different countries, etc.
thanx for this great special. - fine art tori amos time! 🥰😍💖
49:33 such a tender moment between Tori and Dave, so sweet
First show after 9 / 11. How she chose to perform Tom Waits' "Time"... As ever, Tori infuses meaning with every word, every look, every breath... She is simply soul-melting.
Dave seems smitten with Tori. The hand kisses give him away. She is a gorgeous woman and a hell of a musician. No one tops her for me.
Good God. Tori is amazing! I see her in June 2022. Thank you for this incredible upload!
Thank you very very much for putting this together.
Don a major thank you...just made my Wed eve unique.
I haven't listened to Tori in quite some time, but she's like an old flame... I was moved/reduced to tears repeatedly watching this.
I now get why Conan O'Brien loved and admired Dave so much he really had an eye and respect for talent and his guests overall. You can feel it. He seems like a really cool genuine guy.
Thank you so much for this collection, Don Giller. And thanks to the fan that requested it. Love love love!
I remember seeing this show live and being completely blown away by this new artist. Been a Tori Amos fan ever since. One of the things I loved so much about the Late Show with Letterman was the great music he always promote in his show. We miss your show Dave 🙏🏻.
Thank you for this! Tori is one of my favorite artists. I had the honor of meeting her a few years ago, and she was wonderful.
What a strangely condensed version of Precious Things
Благодарю за экскурс в историю творчества этой замечательной певицы, композитора и просто прекрасной женщины!
Fascinating that between the first and second appearances, she had become famous enough to have her beloved Bösendorfer onstage instead of the Yamaha she played the first time...
DON! You are like the KEEPER in AEON FLUX😄 Once again, a guest that ( I had no idea) Dave had on the show so many times. Thx again, this is like finding a brand new album!
Can’t wait to see her live in a couple of weeks!! Been too long ….. Thanks for this compilation!!
Don, you are awesome - thanks!!
Seeing the CD "long box" instantly took me back. Always puts on a great show.
@@EHigginsaside from the cashiers struggle with that I could barely open the plastic on those CDs. I would use my fingers, teeth, then finally scissors and still that was a pain. I always wanted to open it asap and scissors weren't exactly in my pocket, purse or even car when I had one.
@@lindsay556 The struggle was real. These kids today can just click and get all the music. They will never know how we risked life and limb just to get to hear music. Those plastic enclosures were sharp after cutting them open. Yeah I probably chewed a few myself XD
@@EHiggins that and Kazaa/Napster/Morpheus/Etc. I spent entire weekends hogging the phone line to download 10 songs. ENTIRE weekends.
She's making love with the bench, the microphone, the camera, the piano... and if you close your eyes, with ourselves... amazing artist.
I love, love, love Tori❤. I have every album she has done
I can't thank you enough for uploading this. There are so many appearances that I missed/never got to see.
