Yes….90’s Regine was the best. I remember going to her concert here in San Francisco to a sold out show. Best part was when she sang Butterfly then she started flying (with stage ropes) all over the place. Best concert I’ve seen. Her voice was just phenomenal.

6:29 Wale, Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez somewhat announced their separation in ASAP.
Before starting to sing, Martin was doing the dedication for a song (for mother's day or birthday, i can't remember)then it suddenly slipped out. I remember, we were like: "Is this really happening?". They were crying throughout the performance. It's one of the memorable tv moments.

Ive never watched regine concert live but i watched a lot of videos. Regine is just something else on stage. She’ll make you dance , cry , laugh , sad in a span of 1 hr or 2 . Imagine hearing that voice and seeing the same person every sunday for 20 yrs and more and we still look forward for her take of songs if its a cover and waiting for her original songs that shes cooking on. That woman is a blessing really.
Regine was and still is the IT girl. She's so kind, supportive, funny & talented but she also doesn't give af. So original and real. You can't help but really adore her and Lea because of their personalities alone (aside from their talent & achievements). In my opinion, Regine is an underrated actress. She could have been a better actress with better movie plot & challenging roles.

Regine is actually the one who popularized and brought belting in the Philippines in the style of the great divas in the US.
Not really. Before her there was Sharon Cuneta who I remember belts and does runs, Dulce as well. Belting has always been there but what set Regine apart was her transition from a full belt to a whispery soft croon.

I love this a lot. Every time Regine is paired to any male artist, there's always this 'Kilig much" factor, especially in her movies and TV series. You will love her more when you see her act, she's sooo funny and unique. Married now to Ogie and he's perfect for her. They're good friends now with Ariel and his wife Gelli. Ogie and Regine's love story is more interesting, so blessed and I admire them a lot. Also now good friends with Ogie's ex wife Michelle - Miss Universe Australia 1994 and husband Mark. These are normal, kind and good people.

I think it definitely was Martin who was THE balladeer from the late 80s to 90s and i think well into the 2000s. There were others who were excellent and popular at the same time but I think he was the top.. Gary V also did ballads but he also had a more upbeat sound. But they both came up and blew around the same time, Martin maybe a year or two ahead. So they were often battling it out but also occupying slightly different spheres. And obviously there was space enough for those two giants of talent.
I would guess Ariel likely would have been influenced a lot by Martin since he came later.

Before the Eraserheads and the 90's Pinoy alternative rock boom happened around 93-94, Ariel sort of took the mantle from Martin and Gary V for a short period of time. You should check out his hits "Sana Kahit Minsan", "Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin" and "Sana Ngayong Pasko" (for Christmas, pretty high up there in top fave Christmas songs in the Phils). Ogie Alcasid's first wife Michelle Van Eimeren is a stunner too, she was a Miss Universe finalist from Australia (not a singer though). The song performed here is "Tell Me", an 80s massive hit originally sung by Joey Albert, Side A also has an incredible cover of it. =).
They had a very controversial love story way back then...now all moved on and both are happily married.

When I was young I don't patronize Philippine TV shows/movies until now I only admire a few and I can't relate why Ariel Rivera at that time late 80's was called Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala (College Girls Heartthrob) but I accidentally saw him while performing while passing by a mall on the way to visit my relatives and then I understood why, his aura in person is different especially when he's singing. He looks very manly with pinkish cheeks even tho' his not fair complexioned, I always admire intelligent guys than good looking ones but still caught my attention that one time I saw him, since I am a music lover who loves to listen to good singers which he is. Martin is one of the few I really admire in our country seen him a few times with his ex wife Pops talk to him when we pass by each other and watch his concert with Regine. 👍😀

I am one of those lucvky fans of Regine to have seen her tremendous growth and her superstardom journey. We were all elated with her accomplishments. I've seen most of her films, bought all of her albums (and other Regine merch along the way). mid-90s to early 2000 was Regine Era. And why wouldn't it be she was lording the concert scene big and small every year, had her own starrer movies and goodness multi-platinum albums every year from 1995 through all the way til 2007

Ariel Rivera roughly came into Philippine music at around 1992. The dude is handsome and is a certified professional architect when he became a singer. He became a legit hitmaker alongside Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano in mid-90s. He and Regine became an item in 1995 more or less and is in fact collab together entitled "Photograph"

Before their time the music was more inclined to Folk music, american-style jazz (vaudeville), and “Kundiman” (love songs). I think the rise of Regine started on her ever 1st concert ([Full Conncert] - Narito Ako The Concert 1990 - REGINE VELASQUEZ). One said it's the talk of the town and a lot of standing ovations from the audiences. On it's 5th song Greatest Love of All, the roaring crowds made her speechless and teary, like she could not believe it. It was in fact her reaction that made people loved her even more. I was surprised to see that it was Ogie Alcasid who first gave her roses onstage, next in line is Janno Gibbs and you will laugh at what he did. Some believes that the success of her 1st concert made the song Narito Ako her dominant theme to her other concerts or big events.I also found a duet of Regine and Janno in the 90's where he raps Men In Black (Regine Velasquez - Eat Bulaga Concert Series Full Performances Ft. The Dawn's Iisang Bangka (One Boat), Alamid's Your Love on Myx. It's their original and the song has been covered later by other Filipino singers. You may also want to look up "Will I Survive" by Introvoys, a contemporary of After Image.
Jonathan Buencamino is the main vocalist of Introvoys but their drummer, Paco Arespacochaga also dished out his own song "Line to Heaven " as kinda tribute to his late father.

ariel rivera made some great songs in the 90s too. i remember i went back to the philippines for a family holiday around that time and came across his album and found some gems such as 'sana kahit minsan', 'sa aking puso', 'sana dalawa ang puso ko', and 'tunay na ligaya' which regine actually sang with janno gibbs in a movie they were in called 'honey, nasa langit na ba ako'.
