Fantastic advice. The rear view mirror on my F150 had no vibration / rattling issues until I had my windshield replaced. After the windshield was replaced the mirror was shaking badly. I added a 2 small pieces of zip tie to each underside of the bracket (tucked in nice and tight like you demonstrated) and the issue is gone. Thanks a bunch for posting.
Thank you for the video. I ended up using one wooden piece of a clothes pin to avoid metal on glass and it worked to depress the clip. Then I used a nail countersink around the ‘rivets’ to lock it in. No more rattle. Thanks for making this video!
Thank you so much for creating this video. I have been dealing with the rearview mirror shakes with my 2012 Fusion for 10 years and it has been driving me crazy. I did exactly what you recommended and no shakes! Again, thank you!
Aye a fusion brother,i have 2011,and my mirror rattles, but i think i have a “deeper” problem, the support bracket that sticks to the windshield and the mirror itself doesnt stick anymore,it drops down and causes it to shake and rattle, but i noticed if i hold it up against the windshield firm the rattling and shaking is gone if not very very very minimal, does that mean the problem is the support bar?? And i need to glue it back or something??
Thank you so much! I've been dealing with these shakes in my 2016 F-150 for 3.5 years, and I've tried a lot of different fixes, to no avail. I'm so glad I found your video. The fix works perfectly!
Hey Chris. You are the only guy who actually explains why the issue happens and how to fix the bracket. Not in hurry to reinstall on my own F150 so thinking use the wire tie wedge idea and drip some epoxy on each side of clip to prevent future issues.
Watched another video where the guy first sprayed really soapy water on the bracket, then put slight pressure underneath with a pry tool, and lightly tapped it upward with a rubber hammer. My mirror had come off and the bracket was still attached to the windshield. His technique worked like a charm for me. The rubber hammer and soapy water are the key. after the bracket begins to move, release some of the pressure on the bracket from the pry tool.
Thanks Chris. You solved my problem! I sprayed a little dry lube into the slide & used a piece of 3/4" wide wood shim that was very thin at the nose. It got under the clips very well. The mirror came off pretty easy. I used zip tie on each side of the bracket, squeezing them in with a pair of plyers. 15 minutes & done.
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was ready to try and JB Weld those stupid rivets... It looked like Michael J Fox was holding my rear view mirror - couldn't see anything! Snipped off piece of gift card and wedged it in. Good as new!
Good video. Wish you could tell me what to do when the bracket does not stay in cause mine slips right off and the other silver part is still good and stuck to my windshield. The bracket is the issue. 🤦🏾♀️
My whole mirror fell off today with the metal tab still stuck in it. I cannot compress that spring enough to get the tab to slide out. Any pointers? I don’t have that tool.
My clip has broken off completely from the die-cast housing, and now I'm here trying to figure out the next step. Unfortunately there's no video for my scenario.
Mine wiggled for a year then the two rivets completely broke and the mirror just sprung off my window while driving down the road. Can the arm of the mirror be replaced?
Mine shakes but mine is more of the glass in the mirror that is rattling. Especially when I’m playing music it’ll rattle bad but then as soon as I grab and the hold the mirror the rattle stops
Putty adhesive(available at any stationery store or online) has been working for me and it isn't affected by temperature extremes, just jam it in to fill the gap or cracks to take up the slack.

exact same scenario with me nothing wrong with it for 10 years then that windshield got replaced and can not stop shaking

You just solved my problem on a wobbly mirror on my 2012 F-150. Thank You!!
I have the same year, how did you get that rear view off?
Solid like the 70s. I missed the 70s man. Great video
Thanks for the video man. Worked great on my wife’s Explorer. I was going to get a whole new mirror it was awful driving down the dirt road.

100% worked on my 2010 F150. Used a piece of zip tie like you said. Night and day difference.

worked great thanks. It helps to use a little dielectric on it to slide on smoothly.
"Solid like the 70s" 😎
I'm having the same issue with my wife's 2019 Ford Flex, how do I get one of those tools? Thanks
Great advice. I just noticed that wiggling and was looking to see what I could do to improve it.

How much is that tool with the red handle?

Could you send me one of those tools to get mine off?
have the same issue on my f150. its so annoying
After I did the fix, the mirror still shakes
Funny how as I'm typing "loose rearview mirror" it automatically put in f150 🤣🤣
