Unfortunately HP don't send me review units and they cost too much in my country for me to buy just to review, sorry, hopefully it will be possible in future if they decide to get in contact.
Really awesome comprehensive review, I've checked out the other vids you've done on this model too! Definitely helpful compared to other reviewslers that just use laptops for a week and throw up a vid.
Giving a review in 2022. I have undervolted both my CPU and GPU as the temperature on this thing is quite high hitting 70 degrees for the GPU. After undervolting, I achieved 50-55 degrees for the GPU but I do not know much abt CPU but I have seen that after undervolting my CPU first I saw a small increase in my performance. The laptop can run warzone but it’s not really that great. It averages 55 fps(rebirth island) on low settings and stutters few times if you have 8GB ram. The laptop can run war thunder on medium settings above 60 fps and smoothly runs GTA 5. But I must say the battery is absolutely horrible in this thing. Although it have been undervolted, the battery lasts for roughly 2h which is really bad since I wanted to take it for uni. Overall, I think it’s a good laptop for its price but would highly advise you to spend a bit more for a better laptop. If not you should buy this laptop if you solely want to play games on a budget at home but would not recommend to take it out for school or work etc.
@@dennisrausch9519 my gpu or cpu? Turns out for my cpu I acc didn’t undervolt it properly. I have the same one, im getting cs go fps drops and around 60 fps in dota with max settings. Not sure why, what games do you play and may I ask what Nvidia driver do you have if not the newest?
Probably the best laptop review format i have seen !! Really good job !!! I thought that 4gb of ram was soldered and 4 in the slot. It sucks that it is 8gb single channel.
@@JarrodsTech Thts really scammy in my opinion. So you play a russian roulete where you either get 2x4 in dual channel or a much inferior in perfomance 1x8 in single channel.......
I’ve got this, and the laptops 2 years old. But it’s the best thing too but value for money, it’s a amazing business laptop with a amazing gaming card in it
would it be able to withstand frequent travels? Since Im a college student looking for a laptop that could both be durable and could pull off programs such as blender or photoshop (editing large files).
900 for single channel I'd pass. It's not a good deal just because it looks good. Appearance and looks are the last thing a buyer has to be concerned about in my opinion.
@@MikhaelAhava sorry but if your one of those 'people' and your not super rich, you're just stupid when you can get sth way more powerful for the same price
this is what you have in most of ps4 games :/ also 30 fps gives a movie like feelings to same 3rd person games. DB Fighter Z looks like you play the freaking animé at 30fps. At 60 it feels like you play a flash game from 2003
Thanks, 560X is close to a 1050 I think, plus even the i5 beats the Ryzen 7 3750H, so this would win but the memory config could change things, hard for me to say for sure without having tested that exact spec to compare with.
@@angelarevilla2155 hey👋 if u want a gaming lap with ryzen specs go for tuf or else go with l340 bcs it's very minimal look which is better for office use as well as gaming intel inbuild which beats ryzen so both are good im going for l340.
Even with the downsides mentioned in this video, the 1650 and 9th gen CPU may outperform the other machines, it's honestly very hard for me to say as I haven't tested the first two.
Thanks for the awesome detailed review. I want your advise on which is better: 1- Dell G3-3579, Core i7 8750H + Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti 2- Lenovo L340, Core i5 9300H + Nvidia GTX 1650
Would you recommend Lenovo L340 i7 GTX 1650, or Dell G7 i5 w/ GTX 1050? In my country they're same price (lower for L340 i5) Leaning towards Lenovo right now because of the more powerful CPU/GPU and pre-installed SSD, but the thermals really worry me. Dell is weaker on paper, but bulkier design also seems to imply better build quality. Also slightly prefer Dell's I/O. Also on a related note, do you think a hexa core CPU - like the L340 i7 - is a major improvement over a quad core, especially over the coming years? Specific use cases for me would be gaming, browsing/work, and light CAD work. Longevity is another concern of mine.
Jarrod, I'm not sure if you'll be able to answer this question, but do you know what difference is there between this gaming line-up and Lenovo's "S" lineup of IdeaBooks? I ask because I was also considering a Lenovo 15.6" IdeaPad S540, which has an older 8th gen i5, and GTX 1650. The battery on that one is larger than in this gaming laptop. Otherwise they seem pretty much the same. Even though the S540 has a worse processor, it costs almost 200€ more in my country? Why is this? Are these "L" series laptops somehow inferior in other ways, such as the screen or sound or something? P.S. Does this L340 have an HDMI 2.0 port?
Not really sure, never been able to get the 540 so never really checked it out, I don't know what L and S stand for in their lineup or which is considered better. Yes HDMI 2.0 port.

Hi! Thank you so much for the review, I'm between this one and the Asus tuf, I'm a graphic designer and photographer, I would like to know which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance
Hi! What are you calling "+ Cooling Pad" on your mods? I can't represent what it really stands for, my brain is mashing multiple possibilities together! Also, would you recommend liquid metal on this model or would it be risky/bad for the heatpipes? Thanks in advance!
Hey jarrod , thanks first for this video , I know that you’re replying the most of questions ( I hope that I get an answer) , Actually I want a laptop to use for video editing and photoshop , and sometimes to play Fifa and maybe fortnite , with not too much gaming design .. I see that ur not a fan of this laptop , any suggestions with same price or near to ? Thanks a lot.
Those games will be no problem, screen colours aren't great for pro colour work but probably ok if you don't care too much about accuracy in editing. It's ok for the price, just has a few silly things they could have changed to make it amazing
I don't really know as I haven't tested that with same specs to tell you which performs better so can only guess. The CPU here is better, but the TUF has dual channel memory, and I just don't know which difference would be better.
Hi Jarrod, I've bought the exact same model as you reviewed in this video, same specs etc. The thing is that I get a lot of fps drop while playing games like pubg. Sometimes I get a steady 60 but after a while it drops to 40 or 30. However I should mention that I have also a pretty high ping, 100+ to be exact. Is this normal for this laptop or is there something wrong ? Thanks for the awesome review btw !
FPS dips are unfortunately just part of single channel memory most likely. Difficult to fairly compare that game with my results though as results vary based on map and where you are in the game, probably worth trying one that has a built in benchmark as you will know it performs the same task on both our machines so can be fairly compared.
I have this Lenovo L340 with i5-9300h, GTX 1650, 8 GB ram, 500 GB SSD. This laptop is amazing. The only downsides to me are the fans and the trackpad. The trackpad isn't precise, so it won't be able to switch scrolling directions. Shouldn't matter if you're gaming on it, though. Touching the keys does get hot. Eventually if you play for long sessions, your fingers will start to feel the heat. It does perform really well, however. Running Siege on High will get you 100+ fps. Overall for it's price, it's a really solid laptop
If anyone can tell me when Best Buy restocks the laptop for $419 that will be great 👍 I will be checking daily, and will keep you guys in touch:) Ok so apparently the price is back to normal, $650 at Best Buy:( Sale is back up guys, order it when you can

How much did u undervolt?
@@dennisrausch9519 my gpu or cpu? Turns out for my cpu I acc didn’t undervolt it properly. The guy I watched the video from didn’t turn on the setting that saves your undervolt but the gpu I used Msi afterburner and I limited the clock frequency to around 1733 hz (I think not too sure I’ll check when I get back home)
@@-pr0vat70since I updated my BIOS, I can't undervolt CPU anymore, but since you can, you have earlier version of BIOS I need.

Great review as always, do you recommend Asus Tuf fx505 amd ryzen 5 3550h + Rx560x 4gb (dual Channel ram) or this laptop both are for the same price ?
This one, gtx 1650 is way better than rx 560x
Thanks, 560X is close to a 1050 I think, plus even the i5 beats the Ryzen 7 3750H, so this would win but the memory config could change things, hard for me to say for sure without having tested that exact spec to compare with.

Hello Jarrod!. I love your review
Even with the downsides mentioned in this video, the 1650 and 9th gen CPU may outperform the other machines, it's honestly very hard for me to say as I haven't tested the first two.
Thanks for the awesome detailed review. I want your advise on which is better:
1- Dell G3-3579, Core i7 8750H + Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
2- Lenovo L340, Core i5 9300H + Nvidia GTX 1650
No problem! Probably the G3, you get dual channel memory, and more CPU cores with higher CPU power limit. Not sure on the GPU difference though.
Asalam you from Pakistan? Muje guide ker do ke kon sa gaming laptop best hai plz normal Budget
Yes HDMI 2.0 port.
jarrod:it is almost anaudible

Hi Jarrod, I am confused which to buy.
Asus - (ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT) Ryzen 5 3550h with gtx 1650 or this. What would you recommend?
I don't really know as I haven't tested that with same specs to tell you which performs better so can only guess. The CPU here is better, but the TUF has dual channel memory, and I just don't know which difference would be better.
@@JarrodsTech Thank you for the reply.
Ah yes i love watching reviews of my own laptop
Is it good for gaming like shooters (games like fortnite or apex legends)
Can you play COD: Black Ops on this?
I have this Lenovo L340 with i5-9300h, GTX 1650, 8 GB ram, 500 GB SSD. This laptop is amazing. The only downsides to me are the fans and the trackpad. The trackpad isn't precise, so it won't be able to switch scrolling directions. Shouldn't matter if you're gaming on it, though. Touching the keys does get hot. Eventually if you play for long sessions, your fingers will start to feel the heat. It does perform really well, however. Running Siege on High will get you 100+ fps. Overall for it's price, it's a really solid laptop
If anyone can tell me when Best Buy restocks the laptop for $419 that will be great 👍 I will be checking daily, and will keep you guys in touch:)
