Sometimes it feels like literally every other Romantic interest Leonard had besides penny would have been more suitable for him 😂😂
It's seems that way because they've been through the most and we got to see the good and bad.
Imagine your view of their relationship if it was only restricted to the first few episodes.
I'm not saying none of the other girls would have been better but can you really say Priya or Leslie would have been better for the little we saw of them.

Alice was perfect for Leonard and she would have loved him how Priya didn’t and Penny waited too long to realise that she did and commit to it; Alice would have never cheated and/or taken him for granted, mocked him for the things he loved i.e. comic books and made him feel so insecure. If only Leonard had dumped Priya when she moved back home or as soon as he met Alice here.
He always screwed up with the girls who were the best for him.

The one problem I always had was how both Bernadette and Amy are academics, they aren’t really…nerds. I get that most women aren’t into sci-fi…but they turn it WAY TOO far too 100%. Pop culture is mostly science fiction! They should’ve added some female love interests that were into that stuff. Denis counts, but…she was added basically at the very end, and you know what they say:

Alice or Alex would have been the perfect match for Leonard. They had more shared interests and could have been working towards something. The longer Loenard and Penny were together, and especially after they were married, I got the impression that they sort of reluctantly co-existed with each other because they were each afraid of being alone. They didn't actually seem happy very often.
Exactly! Also in the later seasons, Penny especially puts Leonard down a lot. She doesn't seem to like him or even respect him at all. There's this running gag of "I married him because he wore me down" which I find really annoys me and cheapens their whole relationship. She doesn't treat Leonard well after they're married, such as when she takes away/hides his possessions, redecorates his bedroom in a really girly fashion, and is generally nasty to him.

Leonard kissed another girl while he was with Penny and she forgave him . Leonard has a certain pattern , this girl might've been great for him but it won't be great for her .

If anything else that’s an indicator - even subconsciously - that his relationship with Priya wasn’t on the same level of meaning/importance for him as his relationship with Penny.
Keep in mind - Leonard got kissed by that chick on the ship while being both drunk and very seasick.
Now I don’t know about any of you guys reading this, but I’ve never been seasick myself. However, my dad has and he’s made it very clear that when you’re going through that - especially the really bad cases - the last thing you’re doing is thinking clearly since your mind is focused completely on the nausea, how miserable you’re feeling, and just trying to not puke on yourself or anyone/any thing
One last thing I want to add:
Yes - he should have told Penny sooner about the incident, but in all honesty with what we have seen of their relationship over the course of the show until that point in the car… I can’t blame Leonard for being scared of telling her.
Penny’s got a history of not managing her emotions well and lashing out at others - including Leonard - and she runs or clams up when things are just too emotionally overwhelming for her. PLUS, keep in mind that Leonard never found out - despite Sheldon’s well meaning but vague attempt to tell him - that Penny was seriously contemplating breaking things off with him again even after they beta tested their relationship this time.
Imagine how Leonard would have felt if he had found out about that?
After the beta testing, them being in a better place together as both friends & lovers, Leonard being a lot more comfortable in his own skin/his new understanding of his own self-worth thanks to highs/lows of dating sans-Penny… I don’t think Leonard would recover from that unless Penny is really able to explain herself and what is going on in her head because last I checked no person would like to find out that their sweetheart thinks their relationship is “boring” or that it’s a form of “settling”.
I love Penny but I’m not blind to the very real possibility that her hangs and issues could have been the final nail in the Lenny coffin.

My biggest problem with episodes like these are the fact that technically speaking, everyone is right to be annoyed with Sheldon, but at the end of the day, the majority of the series is people making agreements, and then not want to uphold the end of the agreement and then, when Sheldon calls it out on it, they’re more annoyed with how Sheldon did it instead of the principal that they weren’t supposed to do it in the first place
Realistically people would get fed up with Sheldon.
But doing it would break the show since lot of comedic effects comes from Sheldon and his interaction with more normal people.

Everybody is talking about how Priya and Penny dont deserve Leonard. But Leonard doesn't deserve any of them. He cheated on almost every girlfriend he had in the show.

I hate what the writers did to Stewart's character. He was a well-adjusted guy at the beginning and could flirt with Penny to get her phone number.
How did he turn into this nervous wreck? They turned him into this extreme stereotype for easy jokes, rather than go the hard but more satisfying route of clever humor and meaningful growth.

Am with Alice on this one. If Leonard has a girlfriend, then he should have stopped back when she started kissing him. Not a really good guy thing to do. I don't remember her appearing more than these sense so I can't say if she was a better partner for Leonard than Penny, but it would have been interesting. An episode or two of them dating before going back to Penny would have been interesting. At least she helps him, and Priya break up.

Priya was awful, but I don't hate her like some other TBBT fans do. Alex wasn't interesting enough. She was more of a fangirl. Don't get me wrong, I have my criticisms of Penny, but I think that if Leonard fell hard for her first, then nobody else really had a chance.

Penny has absolutely *ZERO* purpose or importance in this show if she's not dating Leonard, so if Leonard got into a serious permanent relationship with Alice or Alex, they'd have to rip up Kaley C's contract. Which I'd be totally cool with, but I'm not sure if they could legally do that.
Or they could have made Penny have a modest acting career and date/marry some financially stable, good-looking 6-pack doctor (MD not Phd) or banker, but she still hangs out with the guys and Amy/Bernadette. I'd have been okay with that too.

Penny is one of the OG 3 and her relationship with the guys, especially Sheldon, is just about as important to the show as her relationship with Leonard.

Leonard should have been with Alex, and Penny should have been with some rich hot guy. That would have made way more sense and been more realistic.
I feel like the writers should’ve tried to make Leonard improve himself and be more of a man than the others. As for Penny…she wasn’t “unfixable”, as a character. I do think the writers should’ve made Penny succeed as an actress while making her and Leonard come back towards each other while making improvements. The way the show made them get back together was a HUGE missed opportunity. They should’ve been given a dramatic reconciliation, complete with music like Friends or HIMYM. Ultimately they could’ve been written a lot better together. 🤦♂️.

I honestly think Leonard missed out more than once. The thing with Penny dragged on too long and became annoying and I was never a fan of Priya. Someone like Alice, or Alex in the later seasons, would've been good for him.
You can tell this show was created by Chuck Lorre, and therefore lacks certain sitcom tropes/style of humor. This show got a lot of things wrong, and quite frankly you can see how it went south hill in the fifth season, it stabilized in the seventh season, was COMPLETELY MID in the eighth season, then the last four season it crashed and burned. Seasons nine-twelve are GARBAGE. Sheldon would’ve been a better (funnier and more entertaining) character if left single, and the show also would’ve been better if they had tried to slowly but surely make some of the male characters mature and become a little (emphasize on “little”) less nerdy. Maybe they should’ve made some of them improve their wardrobe (seriously, all their clothes were bleh), and their should’ve been more emotional moments regarding past trauma (Leonard was done SO DIRTY; his actor should’ve been given a challenge, and their should’ve been a scene where he straight up cuts off ALL ties with Beverly and told her to never contact him again, and it should’nt have been in the last season, but rather in an EARLIER season). 🤦♂️. What a waste. ☹️😔.
