Virgin Media Gig1 now offers 110mbps upload speed. I switched from BT to Virgin Gig1 as BT Fibre wasn’t available in my area. But on Wednesday I’ll be switching from Virgin Gig1 to BT Fibre 900 as it is now available in my area. I had quite a few issues with Virgin and their customer service is bad. So will take a slightly lower speed with BT which has much better customer service and hopefully a more stable connection.

Yes their customer service is a joke. It takes them 20 mins to answer the phone at least. They only look after their customers for 18 months then they double the price.

Ironic that BT mobile is provided through EE, whilst Virgin works with O2, who purchased BT’s Cellnet business.
Also EE is a collaboration between T-mobile & One2One, once owned by Cable & Wireless, now owned by….Virgin Media!

Even if BT has slower speeds, Vrgin Media is terible. My internet has (No exaggeration) went off 100+ times in the past 3 months.

my experience with Vergin' is at the end of the term cancel with them they will try their hardest to give you good deals to stay with them but if you say no they will call you up in 2 weeks and give you an even cheaper deal. I did that for the past 2 years and may try it again .

They are terrible now. You have 24 month contract. 16 months into the contract they remove your discount and the monthly bill goes up. Called and said I wanted to leave if they could not find me a better deal. They disconnected me immediately and charged me a months bill. Been with them 11yrs.

You haven’t actually tested or used any of the providers you mention. We know all this from just looking at their websites.

We are BT customers, we can't get VM at our address. You can read our review of BT here: broadbandsavvy.com/bt-fibre-1-broadband-review/

    hi,
bt have been ripping us off since our contract ended!
so we tried to upgrade and got put through to the sales team who talked to us about a better deal, however they tried to get us to screen share to view the deal and sign a digital contract there and then. is this normal practice for bt now! seems very dodgy, in fact that is a scammers method, getting folk to sign on the spot without time to think it over.

This is normal - they are sharing their screens. Not the other way around.

When I started my 18 month contract with Virgin Media it cost £15 after 5 Months that Price rose to £25 and now the contract is coming to an end they are saying they want £58.75!!!
They are having a laugh. I only want Internet, No TV and No Landline required and they want £58.75 a month!

Yeah this is quite common. Really important to be on top of when your contract is ending - you can either call them and negotiate a new price if you recommit, or jump ship to another provider.
