Actually, the Moscow Music Peace Festival was in ‘88 or ‘89 and that included a bunch of American bands. Skid Row, Cinderella, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osborne (from England technically), and a few others. Bon Jovi headlined the show. You can buy the DVD/video. It was damned good, but not even close to this in terms of numbers.

@@katyareads221 I can’t imagine the overall feeling of the Russian Peoples as whole felt. This concert had to be insane but what so many people forget, or never knew in the first place, is how important and and how much of a “symbol” this concert was for the average Russian citizen, ushering in an entirely new era of hope and freedom. This is one of the beautiful things about music, Cold War just ending, Russian/American relations weren’t exactly friendly yet millions of people acting as if nothing had ever been wrong on either side of the fence, all in the name of great music and a great chance to come together!

Kirk Hammett--lead guitarist is using his ESP KH-3 Eclipse "Spider" guitar.
The business with the helicopters flying low is their crowd control.
All the black buildings amongst the crowd are speakers so over 1 million could hear the music in any direction.

1.6 million people. Right after the Fall of the iron curtain. First time western music played there. Free concert at an old airfield. Every time I see this, I think how do you go to the bathroom. LOL. Heavy Metal at its finest!!! This is mellow for them. The black guitar is more than likely ESP LTD And he does also play Gibsons too.
