Thank you James for all your insights. I bought the Gustav Becker watch during the last AE 11.11 sale and I love it. What an awesome watch. Keep up your excellent work. Greetings from Montreal.
Thanks for an interesting overview ! Nice to see some different & unusual watches . I have a Phylida Tin Tin Moonwatch amounst many & it's Seagull movement has been happy ticking away for a couple of years . Very nice fit & finish on this watch as well . Cheers
That's good to know about the movement. I also own this watch but have always been concerned about it's reliability. Glad to know yours is still going strong.
Awesome selection James! I especially like the Merkur! It looks incredible! The first time I saw that pilots watch from Hruodland was on Tim Johnsons channel. It was super unique then and it still is haha! Have a great day my friend!
That's a great list James, I agree that the more expensive no date watches should be using the NH38. There's no excuse for the NH35. I've never scratched a mineral crystal either, even while using Seiko and Orient mineral glass divers as dive computer backups. I love the Tactical Frog name. Frogman was used to describe military divers in the past. It's great !😊 That Hroudland is definitely being ignored by everyone else. It's nice. I noticed another being ignored generally this year is the Corgeut white dial GMT explorer homage with the NH34. Cost me equivalent of $70, $88 inc tax, must be one of the cheapest NH34 GMTs around although I've just noticed it's a bit dearer in the sale than I paid just a couple of weeks ago. So be careful of sales prices!
I’ve been asking watchmakers and microbrand owners about the NH38. I thought perhaps it is harder to find or more expensive. But apparently it’s not. So they are choosing to put the NH35 into the watches. Maybe they are buying them in bulk and it’s the movement they have in hand. Still disappointing. But if that’s the only real negative. Then that’s ok.
The beauty of all these watches is that there is something for everyone. That said, none of these spoke to me. Still, a great presentation and thank you for creating it.
Excellent selection, James. Your AliExpress collection alone would be an excellent overall collection, even ignoring your Oris, Tudor, etc. I believe you and I have similar tastes and wrist sizes, which probably explains why I enjoy your videos and suggestions. I had no idea that Tactical Frog made a Willard homage. Will have to check out that review. Take care!
Hey James, been meaning to ask this for a while. Looking for a watch off Ali Express that's a homage to the Tag Monaco. I know that some of the chronographs on those homages are non-functional. I'd ideally like one that does function. Do you have any leads you could pass my way?
I’ve not actually looked at this type of homage before. I can see the ere are a few but nothing is jumping out at me as being great. When I look I am looking for a good store with customer feedback with photos so you can actually see the watch.
@@WATCHingJames Thanks :) hopefully we can both find one, since it's a unique watch in general and there don't seem to be many homages out there. This might be an odd tactic but in my collecting journey if I'm interested in a big brand watch I try out a homage first to see if the style clicks with me. Ultimately, this has saved me money. I tried out a few black bay homages and they were always too chunky for my liking or they just sat poorly on my wrist (didn't have a Tudor dealer near me at the time), when I tried the real deal on, same experience. But I really love how the Monaco looks, and I do want to see about trying a homage first. If you find any good ones, let me know, same goes for me if I find a good one!
I love mine but some others have problems screwing in the crow when fully wound. An amazing watch. I think our tastes are very similar. @@WATCHingJames
Nice selection. I understand you wonder why more people don't talk about the Hruodland Turbine it looks cool. I wonder why nobody talks about Red Star Three Eye chronograph the Zenith Chronomaster homage because it looks great and it is great cause I have it😀
Oh they do but I ment different chrono that homages the more modern Zenith. I couldn't find any number but you can find it by the name Red Star Three Eye chronograph
The original retro diver with the rivet bracelet is one of longest in my collection. A homage you can justify given the cost of the watch it's based on. Unfortunately I'm very wary of the st19 movement after my Sugess 63 stopped working within a year and now sits in drawer beyond economical repair.☹️
I’m doing some experiments with audio at the moment and also just bought a significantly better lav system. So sound should get better soon. I do have about 4 weeks of videos already recorded that will still be coming out with the old audio. But should then get considerably better.
I like your watch reviews a lot, but your introductions are getting longer and longer. More than 2 minutes by now. Any way to get to the watches faster? 😊
Buyers beware: Whilst you might receive an item of acceptable quality, be aware that any and all AliExpress guarantees are worthless and will not be honoured: you may well be sent Chinese junk (!) and be stuck with it...with no free return/refund/repair/replacement. With the last defective watch I returned, they not only refused to refund me but failed to send the watch back to me so that I could repair it myself!!! Caveat emptor...
That is disappointing to hear. I’ve had overall great experiences with the approximately 100 watches I’ve bought from AliExpress. I did return one as it was not as described and I got a full refund Another had a defective bracelet and they sent me a replacement Another had a scratch on the dial. I had the message them lots about it and ended up with a partial refund. Which was not perfect. Make sure you buy from a reputable seller with lots of followers and feedback. AliExpress is a platform for sellers. So all the stores are different. There are definitely dodgey stores on there so you should be careful and make smart buying choices.
It was Pagani design store that refused to refund me for a defective item and did not return it so that I could repair it myself. No 'free return' no guarantee no refund no watch never again...
I also have a number of pieces from AliExpress which are satisfactory. However, any and all guarantees are a bond and should be honoured. Pagani Design Store cannot be trusted.
Thanks for sharing but your experience is not everyone’s. I had a problem with a watch. The watch was returned and I received 100% of my money back. Buy the seller.
The sale is now on so I thought I would release this video a bit early. Thanks for WATCHing
Ludicrous video and watches
Nice to see a bunch of different watches than the typical top 10 list. Nice choices.
Thank you. They are all amazing watches that I really enjoy
I purchased the hruoland turbine on your recommendation in the last 11/11 sale and I love it! Thanks James - cheers !
That’s fantastic to hear. I really love that watch. I wear it all the time.
Wow!! - I need to look into that Tactical Frog H5, many thanks for bringing it to my attention James 👍🏼🇬🇧
It really is incredible. The best Willard homage I’ve come across.
Thank you James for all your insights. I bought the Gustav Becker watch during the last AE 11.11 sale and I love it. What an awesome watch. Keep up your excellent work. Greetings from Montreal.
Great to hear you love the GB. It really is an incredible watch.
I really like that Hruodland diver. The color combination looks awesome 👌🏼👌🏼
It is an amazing watch

So many of them

That turbine watch has really been on my mind lately. I'm going grab one I reckon.
It is truly the best I’ve owned from AliExpress and remains one of my favorite and most worn in my collection
@@WATCHingJames it's so different and unique in its own right. There's just something about it.

Nice list! My favorite is the Cronos. If you're looking for a Sub homage, this is the one to buy.
I’ve had lots of these homages now and that one is definitely my favorite
A massive varied collection, liek you I really like the tactical frog brand name, hope all is well bud

I’ve been missing it.

No. No issues. I’m always a bit extra careful however because bronze can be a softer material

The best 2 from this list in my opinion

Is a roughly $100 mecha-quartz diver with sapphire crystal really too much to ask? (I know most want automatic - I am not most)
Not at all. I personally think that is affordable. Especially when it powers a really nice watch.
@@WATCHingJames indeed, but I will be dipped if I can find one…
Gustav Becker Did Boris Becker give his son some of his tennis money to start a fashion micro brand?
Hahahahaha. It’s actually an older watch brands name that this one has reused.
Some lovely watches there and if I pull the trigger, you'll know. Cheers 👊
Thank you. So many incredible watches to choose from. It makes it hard to make a decision. Hahahaha
Love the Baltany except it doesn’t work for a lefty on the right wrist.
I had thought about that too.
It would look a bit odd.

How is the 1921 three hander version of this Baltany worth 409AUD in the sale, when this subdial version is half the price?
Because of the movement. Apparently.
The sub dial version has a seagull movement.
The three hander has a high beat miyota.
Thanks for finally putting on a lav mic and fixing your audio.
I’m doing some experiments with audio at the moment and also just bought a significantly better lav system.
