Green bean casserole has almost become the joke of Thanksgiving, and yet, very few tables don’t have a dish of green beans on them. I’ve eaten it, but never made it. So I went for the show stopper. It was not hard to make. I did put it together the night before, and just popped it in the oven on turkey day. It was a big hit, everyone loved it, and I was quite proud of myself. I’ll be making this again in the near future - Christmas is only a month away! Thank you for this delicious casserole!
I'm trying the showstopper also! 💖 got to run out and buy some of that fancy garlic herb cheesy thing... 😅👍😍 Hope mine tastes as awesome as this one looks! 🙏 Blessings for a Happy & Prosperous 2022 New Year to All!!! 🎉🙌
@@mollyn.1635 every time I’ve gone to a friend’s home for Thanksgiving, someone makes a crack about the green been casserole. I’ve seen jokes about GBC in a couple of movies. When I’ve worked Thanksgiving and we all bring a dish to pass (department provides a cooked turkey) jokes are made when the GBC is brought up. That’s why I said that. Don’t get me wrong - I’m a fan of GBC - I’m not a vegetable eater - there are very few veggies I like - but I do like green beans, and the show stopper recipe is awesome. I made it again this year!
I really love this format - probably my favorite on this channel. The standard, from-scratch method, then the simple & convenient method, and the fanciest chef’s method. It gives me so many options to try (and retry!) a dish and naturally helps me improve my cooking skills in a way that’s accessible
All look good. I especially like the slow cooket one, but I think I will probably take elements from each one. Thanks so much for showing all these varieties 😊
This is one AWESOME video!! Seriously, I gotta say I LOVE them ALL!! I've never ever made "Green Bean Casserole, before" BUT I will be makin it this year for my family and am sure they're going to LOVE IT, whichever version I make!! They all look sooo DEEE-LICIOUS!! I will be trying all 3 versions, but need to decide which I am making for Thanksgiving. I'm cool with canned and frozen green beans for sure, BUT I LOOOOVE fresh green beans much more. Thanks loads for sharing these recipes with us. Arlene
Thank's for showing . Your three ways to fix . Green bean casserole . I put a little bit of cheese in mine . Green bean casserole never any left overs . Need to try your way . Have a wonderful day .
OMG! showstopper green bean casserole is the bomb!!!! simple and delicious!!!thank you so very much for sharing!!! holiday favorite! happy blessed Thanksgiving!
My favorite way is to make the cream of mushroom and French fried onions from scratch. I just love the large slices of mushrooms in there. And I use frozen green beans. Then add some candied/pickled jalapeños, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheeses of your choice. I use pepper jack, parmesan, and either mozzarella or cheddar cheeses.
Looks great. Always looking for variations of vegetable sides. Maybe an idea for another video would be actually making several of the standard cream soups like cream of chicken, cream of mushroom and cream of celery. The canned creamed soups are handy but would love some homemade versions.
I use element from each of these but I use Alfredo sauce instead of cream soup with fresh green beans and mushrooms with bacon and of course crispy onions
Show stopper looks delicious, but unable to access recipe after download. I prefer if the recipe was written in the comments or any other method than having to download a browser to access. I hope you provide more options for recipe.
Childhood version of favorite vegetable side dish! I look forward to making this! Yes crisply and full of flavor! Thanks again for a great video, please keep doing these, you’re awesome!😊😊😊😊😊
@DoxyLady - this was the first time I’ve ever used Boursin cheese - I’m with you on this - I love it! I love this channel. My whole life I’ve just made the same things over and over but YT has given me the opportunity to spread my cooking wings and try new things that are not as hard to make as I thought. Grocery stores are full of things I’ve never tried, but this channel is changing that for me!
We always have the traditional like your mom's but we use French style green beans. YUMMY!! Love your videos! I wish you had a food channel show. You're a hoot!!
Yep, I've always had it or seen it made with french cut canned green beans. I need to try it using frozen beans though, regular cut ones like she used.
Great recipes. I always made it with the French cut green beans from a can. I need to try the frozen cut beans and slow cooker method. I'm wondering if I can use cream of celery instead of chicken, or maybe the condensed canned cheese soup. Or maybe one can of cream of celery and one can of cream of mushroom.
@@msr1116 Yes, you're right. I always prefer fresh picked, but can't get those right now. And I have found frozen ones to be a little "rubbery", but definitely different from canned. I just made one Friday, and decided to use canned, with cream of celery soup. I used one can of French cut, and one can of regular cut. I also cooked some diced onion and a couple diced mushrooms. And added a little shredded cheddar cheese. Topped it with crispy onions. This one was the best I've made in a long time. I recently found the Golden Farms crispy onions on eBay, they are the best.
@@geezermann7865 ....I grew up.on canned green beans and only ate the frozen kind in a very occasional TV dinner. My family grew a selection of veggies in the garden but green beans weren't too popular so we just bought them in cans.
@@geezermann7865 ......I want to follow up with you. Not having eaten frozen green beans in a very long time, I did notice a chewy texture, although their taste was fresher than canned. Evidently frozen ones are undercooked while canned are overcooked to mushyness. Frozen beans are said to lose rubbery-ness with a bit of extra cooking.
I love green bean casserole. My kids will only eat it with canned beans. If you do the quick version I would put a little wostershire or fish sauce. You lose umami using cream of chicken instead of mushroom.
Damn, yore CUTE!! Lemon juice Can milk, whole milk, cream Garlic paste Diced onion Cream of chicken mushroom soup Types of good textured & tasty cheeses Worcester sauce I love to mix the greens in with mashed potatoes for taste & breaks down the starches

Green bean casserole is one of the only dishes that someone who does not eat meat can enjoy during Thanksgiving yet this CLUELESS video pretends that everyone who attends a Thanksgiving dinner eats meat. This is like a video out of the 1950s. No thanks.

Why do you say it’s become the joke of thanksgiving? I don’t agree that that’s true.

I use frozen french cut green beans and add one table spoon of sour cream for each bag …..this is so good!

My favorite Thanksgiving side.....after stuffing and cranberry sauce. I always used the recipe from Campbell's. Time to shake it up.
I did the first one for Easter put breadcrumbs and French's onions on top. Huge hit with all.

The classic is the best bean casserole ever. Amazing and delicious.

They all look so good! Im not sure which one should I make? 🤔 thanks for the recipe 😋
I never knew I needed 2 stoves and counter space until today. It's 2:51 and Thanksgiving dinner will be done in 45 minutes. Gravy to go wish me luck.
They all look amazing!!!
What brand to try for the semi garlic and herb cheese?
I love Boursin cheese. I use it in so many recipes. It's awesome when you spread it on the chicken breast before you stuff cordon bleu. Yum.
Oooooh Yeah.

Would almond milk be an ok substitute for the milk in the crockpot recipe?
Yum

Go to web better homes and gardens and type in search green bean casserole and choose the top one, million dollar green bean casserole.
Second dish hit home hard
I always place green bean casserole and fruitcake together on a separate table just to see who goes for them. 😊👍
Awesome, now we're into November! Gotta say the slow cooker dish wins for nostalgia & comfort food. PS cool shirt are you a GD fan?
Parmesan is a great tip
