      Gilles will never be forgotten and always loved.
      Niki Lauda said, "Gilles was the craziest bastard I ever met!"
      I was so pleased when Jacques won the world championship in '97.
      I have also seen him drive one of his father's F1 Ferraris.

    Only the Italians with their flair for show, their deep appreciation and respect for history and the beautiful backdrop of a UNESCO World Heritage site of Modena could produce a spectacle like this. It must have been a wonderful day there.
    Thank You for such a great video…
    Mille Grazie!

      Thank you very much for these words. Italians, especially the people of Emilia Romagna, the region where dream cars and motorbikes are built, have a massive passion for vehicles and history. In these places, you can see an F1 driving through the streets of the centre of Modena. That day I went with my father. We have always been passionate about F1 & cars, and I told him to come with me because what we see will remain a piece of history. And so it was; seeing Arnoux driving Gilles' car was magnificent. I remember that day like it was yesterday, and it's already been nine years. That day my father was among the spectators, while I was lucky enough to be among the mechanics, as you can see in the video. The local TV interviewed some spectators, including my father, and I have a video of him that I still watch today; you can perceive the emotion as he speaks. So they are beautiful memories 😉

    René is an absolute gentleman, I had the joy of meeting him over 10 years ago ,at a historic Renault F1 Demo at Donnington in the UK he was there driving demo's of all the Renault Turbo F1 cars along with a few other drivers of Le Mans and Rally cars from the the French mark. He signed some stuff for me . His Epic Battle with Villeneuve at France is the stuff of myth now .a great honour for him to drive this car.

      those few laps in which they battled each other at the finish of the French GP is probably the greatest motorsports video footage in existence. Both of them were 'crazy' and so talented to keep it on the track the whole time. As a young Canadian racing fan (absolutely crushed in 1982), I was really happy that Arnoux joined Ferrari the following year and had a good season (including winning the Canadian GP!) in which he finished 3rd in the standings, and Ferrari (with Patrick Tambay) won the manufacturer's title.

    A F1 car without the chassis seems almost empty and therefore, even more fragile. How Gilles Villeneuve emerged unscathed from the terrible accident in imola in 1980 with the T5 (almost equal to the T4), remains a mystery. Unfortunately two years later he did not have as much luck.

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  6 лет назад +1

      I have just finished reading a book that told of the golden years of Villeneuve and his car engineer, Mr.Tomaini, has always wondered how he came out unscathed. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, fate was not in his favor two years later.

    • @Alex-cb1id
      @Alex-cb1id 6 лет назад +1

      I noticed you're italian, so I answer you in italian. Gilles era uscito illeso da incidenti spaventosi (in particolare Giappone 1977, Imola 1980) nei quali normalmente un pilota o restava gravemente ferito o addirittura moriva, quindi sembrava che Gilles fosse immortale. In realtà era stato solo molto, ma molto fortunato. L'impatto era sempre avvenuto col miglior angolo possibile. A Zolder purtroppo la fortuna gli voltò le spalle e la sfortuna arrivò tutta in un colpo solo. L'impatto tra la Ferrari e la March di Mass fece decollare la Ferrari che ripiombò su un terrapieno nel peggior modo possibile, capottandosi fino a disintegrarsi almeno nella parte anteriore. Se Gilles avesse tamponato in pieno la vettura che lo precedeva come accadde a Pironi qualche mese dopo, sarebbe sopravvissuto, Come Pironi non sarebbe più tornato a correre, ma sarebbe restato vivo.

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  6 лет назад +1

      Quello che dici è corretto. Nel 1980 Gilles fu davvero molto fortunato, viene riportato dai meccanici e dalle testimonianze degli addettei ai lavori presenti quel giorno. Hai perfettamente ragione anche sull'analisi dei fatti e su come sono andate le cose a Zolder. Purtroppo una pagina scura del motorsport ci ha portato via prematuramente un pilota molto generoso e dal grande cuore, prima ancora del suo enorme talento.

    • @Alex-cb1id
      @Alex-cb1id 6 лет назад +1

      grazie per gli apprezzamenti. Sono passati tanti anni ma quando penso a quella vicenda, ancora stento a crederci. Mettiamo che Pironi e Gilles non siano esistiti e che uno scrittore o sceneggiatore scriva la storia di 2 piloti compagni di squadra e amici, Didier e Gilles. Durante un GP Didier supera a tradimento Gilles e questi non gli parla più. Alle prove del sabato del GP successivo, Gilles vede che l'ex amico ora peggior rivale, partirà davanti a lui e, nonostante abbia già consumato le gomme di qualifica a disposizione e manchino pochi minuti, decide di tornare in pista e ha un incidente fatale. Didier pochi mesi dopo avrà un incidente simile che gli stroncherà la carriera. Didier si rende conto di aver sbagliato e quando sua moglie resta incinta di due gemelli decidono di chiamarli Didier e Gilles, solo che Didier padre non li vedrà mai perché morirà in un incidente di motoscafo. Una storia del genere, se inventata, verrebbe scartata da molte case editrici o di produzione cinematografica in quanto inverosimile. direbbero che non potrebbe accadere neppure a Beautiful .. e invece è tutto successo veramente. Quando la realtà supera la fantasia ...

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  6 лет назад +1

      Ancora una volta hai perfettamente ragione. Purtroppo, come tante, troppe cose nella vita, non si vive di se mentre restano i rimpianti. Gilles teneva all'amicizia ed alla parola data prima di tutto. in quell'occasione Pironi tradì la fiducia di Gilles diventando il suo più grande rivale. Sarebbe bastato che si parlassero, una scusa. Ed invece le persone a volte non lo fanno, la ragione e la saggezza non prendono il sopravvento e succedono episodi e cose che possono cambiare il corso della vita ed in questo caso anche la storia delle competizioni.

      Check him out in the early late 70's & 80's & you might change your opinon. French GP at Dijon in 1979 is a legendary race because of his battle with Villeneuve

      rodeobadoeyenhausen Very true, That final lap at Dijon in '79 was the stuff of legend. You just don't see that kind of racing very often. But Arnox didn't maintain that competitiveness in future seasons, and eventually just got in the way of everyone else

      This car has made a single ride in the streets of Modena. I'm not superman. Not flying. You have no idea how complex it was to reach the start and then another point. In all this, I also made the photos to remember this unique and unrepeatable moment.
