This is the second demo of Dissidia Sedecim, this time featuring Safer Sephiroth. Video with download link in the description for the first demo, featuring Kefka:
• DISSIDIA SEDECIM - A r...
--------------------------------------
Seph's AI and attacks are closely based on the original International Release of Final Fantasy VII. The balances made were to fit FFVII's algorithms into FFVI's.
The only actual change is to his HP. In the original game, his base HP is 80k, not much at all. On the other hand, he follows 2 boss fights, so the player is weaker by the time they reach Sephiroth. My goal was to recreate the feel of the final battle, so I gave him an HP that's equivalent to the amount of HP the player deals to kill every boss before Sephiroth as well as him. That makes it 260k (assuming the player used KotR on JENOVA)
Not just Supernova, but EVERY new attack animation in this is fucking pristine, especially that kickass Omnislash! And I still adore how Noct's mechanics are handled.
Thanks. Have you checked the Noctis video?
ruclips.net/video/joNN2q2TYzo/видео.html
It goes more in depth on how Noctis plays. There's a lot unique about him that doesn't show on this video.
We will watch your career with great interest.

@@LockeIProd General Organa! Wait...
Hello there
I love the supernova animation. The speed is perfect, no need to skip it.
Thanks. I've kept it quick but even then that's too long for SNES standards.
@@CinammonPupper Is not that bad it's not a 2 minute cutscene it reminded me a bit of the Japanese version.
Too short. What made the original supernova amazing was the length of the attack
@@bigbirdmusic8199 but at this pace, it keeps the flow of battle, while still having the feeling of an ultimate attack
I really like how each character has their own mechanics. Terra keeps her trance, Noctis can warp and call his allies, cloud’s got limit break and the devout has spell slots. It’s a very nice touch
Thanks, most of the development effort actually goes into implementing all that stuff.
Now I want to see Kefka with FF7 visuals.
You are Welcome.
It’s very difficult to make a 3d game.
@@worawatsr9803 yes I understand, but I still really want to see what it looks like
We got him in FF14

The Omnislash animation was the BETTER snes animation that i was see in my ENTIRE LIFE!
Dudeeeee, these Sephiroth's cutscenes attacks are so GORGEOUS!!!
Keep the good work, man ;)
Wow that supernova animation along with everything else looked excellent 👌. That must have taken some serious work.
IIRC the supernova was an entire weekend of coding

I died laughing
Stunning work, has me genuinely hyped for the first full release.
OH MY GOD THIS IS SO FREAKING AMAZING.
My hat goes off to you sir. I recently just finished playing FF6, and it was really good. And I was thinking about what it would be like if every Mainline FF Game would run on the same game engine as 6 did. And looks like your doing just that. If I could donate money to you, I definitely would. Cant wait to this the finished product of this!
Thanks, comments like this are great.
I've put the project on hold a couple of months ago because I started working on something of my own, something I can actually make money with.
It's sort of a revival of classic MGS gameplay with roguelike mechanics. I'll show some stuff about it a few weeks from now on my twitter and post a video here too.
Anyway, this FF project is not abandoned though. I had way too many awesome ideas for how to adapt things that I just can't put aside, but it'll be moving slower from now on.
@@CinammonPupper cool
I'd like an actual demake of Remake someday.
Isn't the remake of Remake the OG FF7?
@orangejjay You'd be right, but I believe in the moment I meant the same of everything in Remake with the original art style...or maybe it was more like FF1-FF6 with just story stuff. I don't remember anymore.
My brain twitches when I hear the "wrong" sound effects over the FF7 music
I want a whole FF7 SNES demake now...
I really just came here for the supernova animation lmao.
Everytime I see a FF mobile game, I always hoped it would be similar to this idea. Never is. This looks awesome
That's what motivated me to make this game.
This Demake is Beautiful! I’d love to see all FF games starting from 7 in the style of 6.
Very impressive work. This on its own is an exceptional love letter to the original and a great homage to the snes style. Keep it up. :)
THE WAY EVERYONE’S BATTLE UI LOOKS LIKE THEIR GAME’S BRUH I LOVE IT
I've put a lot of effort into these little details, it's one of the boring things I get excited about, it's nice to see other people as excited.

That's cool to see added cut on Cloud's Bolt 3. Very nice touch.
I've basically recreated the whole materia system for this. There's also the All materia at work as well as HP Absorb.
@@CinammonPupper Noice, I can't wait for cloud to be rocking 8 counter mimic sets lmao.
@@jme1mm 8 KotR Counter Magic combos. But I'm limiting some of the stuff that can be done. For an instance, no mime materia, that'll be a Bartz exclusive, and also less materia slots.
Thank God you shortened the supernova animation after the first time, it’s a little slow when you’ve seen it for the third time in the fight
Yeah I figure any game owes the player their time. First time's cool, second time I guess, third time is a no no
I like how each character has their respective game systems. Like White Mage from FF3 having it's weird MP system, or Noctus using warp. Good stuff! Can't wait to potentially play it :)
Hey, how about you play it now!
Fresh new build, I've literally just released it 5 minutes ago

It's got Cecil in it and a new boss fight
What an effort of those animations! I want this mod :(
It's not a mod. I've recreated the FF6 combat engine from scratch on gamemaker. There's a download link in the comments so you can play the game, and newer versions with more characters/features.
Lavos vs. Jenova - the ultimate battle for extraterrestrial supremacy!
AWESOME WORK DUDE. i loved the omnislash. keep up the good work!
We need a FF spin off like Dissidia in SNES style, but instead of a fighting game, make it a RPG just like this one, where we encounter all bosses from all games
And we could see parties like that one
That's the goal here
All The Bravest 😆
I prefer in 3D but this sprite of Sephirot is very well done.
That Terra sprite is spot on. Nice work.
It's because it's taken straight from FFVI :) The other sprites are taken from FFRK

Noctis: "My job here is done"
Cloud: "but you didn't do anything..."
This looks freaking amazing, I hope we can see more bosses, with different characters perhaps
Not sure why this doesn't have millions of views. It really is great. Love the combat, it seems very fast, but not too fast. Way faster than it is in FF7 and in later games, where the animations, while impressive for the time, kind of dragged on. I bet they could have released something like this in 1995 on the snes and it would have been amazing. The pixel art looks more impressive than the 3d stuff, at least when it comes to the ps1 graphics. This would have blown everyone's minds back then in the 90s.
Thanks!
bruh this needs more views DD:
I no rite
That Omnislash animation really made me wish they didn't kill FFRK in the west.
Well timed comment because I just revived working on the project, ending a 2 year hiatus
4:20 Did he just... Shield supernova???
Terra: What the fuck is that and who are you people
Noctis: CONFUSED SCREAMING
That Omni slash animation is so satisfying.
Thanks, took a lot of work making that one. I tried to make it as accurate as possible
I like how they use the ATB model for sephiroth, i could not see another way of him
this is just absolutely too good
thanks!
Guess it’s just like the actual ff7, if the supernova’s high gravity based attack doesn’t kill you, the semi bad breath properties might finish the job.
I want to add the japanese variation of supernova to his moveset, so he becomes a little more deadly.
@@CinammonPupper Sounds like something for every even cycle.
Bring on the FFVII Snes DEMAKE!
THAT'S AWESOME!!! so cool!
I thought Noctis was Zack for a second
That was amazing! Well worth the effort.
If FFVII was released a gen earlier.
Thanks!
It's been a while since I wanted to play something this badly
For some reason, Gladio appearing at 3:42 and 3:54 are my favorite parts
That's one of Noctis' most powerful abilities IMO. I'll add more of these techs where he calls up his mates from XV
@@CinammonPupper I don't know much about XV since I never played it. That's really cool
it's like a what if scenario. what if 7 was the final 16 bit final fantasy game instead of 6

I love how you punked Noctis so hard in this video 🤣
I love these sprite animations
thanks
i know this video came long before smash, but this supernova is a lot like the smash version, it's amazing
Just watched it, yeah, it is very similar. They made it even shorter of course and it's interesting how we both picked up on the same key elements. The maths, comet comes from outer space, smashes something along the way, shot of the sun blowing up, shot of the earth turning to dust
@@CinammonPupper even the planet it hit before impact was the same. Was very scary
The project as a whole seems like it would be amazing, is this your work? Where can I find out more?
I do take issue with how OP Cloud's Omnislash is. If this is meant to be a sample of the intended balance of a game made in this engine, please tell me you plan to drastically tone it down...
The project's discord has constant discussion and updates: discord.com/invite/knQzyuv
On twitter too: twitter.com/tiemff
In both these places you'll find links to the latest build.
Anyway, I've toned down Omnislash even more, but it's still very OP. My next steps to balancing is making it take even longer to charge, to implement a mechanic that makes Omnislash and other melee attacks have a cost AND lastly to improve the power of some other characters, specially the early game ones.
This is so cool! Well done! 😄
THIS GAME WILL BE FUCKING EPIC IF I SEE ON THE STORE..DAMN! HE CAPTURE THE REALL POWER OF THE OLD FF FRANCHISE!
This is great!
I've tried to play through it, but sometimes characters would do nothing despite not having any status ailments? Like their ATB bar is full but the menu doesn't show up
Probably a glitch. Which version did you get? If it was the version in this video that's one of the oldest ones, I think probably the first public version.
On the twitter account (it's in the description), right in the description there's a link to the project's wiki. Over there right on the front page you can get the latest version of the game.
In here ruclips.net/video/tpouunSqu9Q/видео.html
you can get a more updated version that has more characters and bosses too.
Whoa... that ending gave me chills!
But how come WM got off a Cure3 on the party while confused?
It was randomly chosen. I guess things like that are bound to happen to with the White Mage because a majority of her actions are healing and there are more allies than enemies, so the odds of the white mage choosing a healing spell on an ally are greater than on the enemy or than an offensive action on an ally. But it happens, I've been hit with Holy once.
This is interesting
Did you take the sprites from Final Fantasy Record Keeper?
Yep. Without RK this game wouldn't exist.
So if I may ask, how big is the team behind this project and how long has the work been going on it?
Most of the time it's been me, a few years now, on and off as a hobby. Late 2019 I got help with music and graphics.
@@CinammonPupper That's impressive! Kudos to you for this!
I can't believe that such is possible
Give it a whirl
@@CinammonPupper just played your fangame and I like how challenging it is :)
¿¡ How this can be so great ?

Wtf this is amazing !!!!
It looks amazing!
If you ever make a full-game remake of FF7 for/on the SNES I'd buy that for almost any price. Too bad that will never happen.
safer Sephiroth looks a lot better in pixel form than in polygonal form
Thanks to Final Fantasy ATB, that game wasn't that great but it had some awesome sprite art
Will I be able to play this on a Macbook?
No, sorry, it's windows only
amazing i just thought this would be a copy of final fantasy iv/vi's battle system with an all star team but those amazing outer space scenes wow.
I've basically re-created FF6 combat engine in GameMaker along with recreations of other character's customization systems. For an instance when Cloud dies and uses Phoenix that's actually because I had to put Phoenix + Final Attack materias on his weapon.
You used FFRK sprites right??? they look totally awesome.
Yep, and FFVI stuff too, mostly for the animations and interface
Lots of other stuff as well, from all sorts of SNES games.
And now we're missing 16
And, I'm not entirely sure what you meant by "every generation" do you mean PS1 PS2 etc. or PS and PC?
It wasn't until they added sephiroth to Smash Brothers that I ever knew about Supernova causing status effects. I always was rocking Max resistances by that point in the game so it never happened to me.
did you also know it can't kill, it does damage % damage, so your dudes could have 10 hp and Supernova wouldn't kill them
@@CinammonPupper I believe it can kill in the Japanese version of the game
seems like someone wasnt equipped for supernova smh
Have you considered Knights of Round? I imagine them all like the players in appearance and would using them to kill Sephiros result in Sunburst before death? I wonder how the Japanese Sunburst would look this way.
They're in the plan but as a summon attack and I don't know exactly how I'm going to handle it.
The three issues are:
Art, I don't have the sprites for them
Animation, most animations I can recreate very closely, but KotR was planned in a way that only made sense in a 3D game with animated characters.
Power, I've tried to nerf most of these multi hit attacks. KotR hitting 13 times is hard to nerf.
@@CinammonPupper I envision Sephiros facing front and back with KOTR while their sprite could either be Seph's size and behave in a simple manner similar to a summon or be like the player characters here and attack in a similar fashion and use basic attacks like the pcs going going around him. It would be shorter than Supernova/Sunburst by a couple seconds
With Limit Break 4 Omni-Slash maxing damage, let alone some other spells here doing the same, KOTR would be no different. Unless Sephy has max Health, this would be over in half the time.
One more thing, is he coded to use Supernova once before he dies?
@@Prince_Eva_Huepow Nope, he uses it during his normal cycle every time but that's it.
@@CinammonPupper Oh. Thank you.
@@CinammonPupperThis fight is awesome work.
My only complaint is the victory pose seems to make the characters sink into the ground.
It's been fixed. Good catch tho, nice to see people are watching it to the end and noticing the little details.
I want a SNES demake of ff7 sooooo freaking bad
FF7 remake part 3 is looking good
R.I.P. Noctis
Why wasn't the WHM DPS'ing? I dont see her on ACT
I'm confused man. I assume WHM is white mage, I don't know what you mean by ACT though.
@@CinammonPupper Probably figured it out by now, but it's a FF14 joke. FF14 (and FF11) abbreviate player classes into three-letter acronyms, so White Mage becomes WHM, as you said.
ACT is a third-party program some FF14 players use to gauge their (and their current party's) combat efficiency, normally for hardcore content which requires more strategizing compared to the rest of the game's content.
In FF14, some healing class players like White Mages tend to overly focus solely on healing, instead of mixing their heals with attacks to help the party clear content. So the joke is that an ACT parser is complaining about how shitty the White Mage in this video is for not regularly using damage spells during the fight.
HOLY SHIT WOW
Supernova tbh looking cool lol
Thanks!@
Nice work but needs a few things...
Sometimes the characters would be able to pick their moves even when confused. That does not make much sense.
Also I felt you should make different attacks a little more even. I just saw Noctis do 300HP to a White Mage under confused and 2000 to Cloud under the same status effect. Needs a level of normality
The white mage thing was probably because the white mage was on the back row and it might've also been due to the weapon Noctis used.
Anyway, this is an older version. Try out the most recent one

Balancing is still a work in progress but it's better.

Just imagine if someone made a version of One Winged Angel using actual direct-rip samples from all three SNES Final Fantasy games. You would just *have* to use that, right? >.>
The guy making the music (ruclips.net/user/tssf) uses a software that comes real close to actually composing on the SNES. The way he does it I think is as close as it can get.
@@CinammonPupper Oh, you already have someone using C700 I see. XD
It's pretty awesome that he even knows a lot of the synthesizers that were sampled for FF music on SNES and PSX!
Like Grand Cross and Mind Blast but damaging
You mean every "Console" ?
Just played this and man is it hard. Noctis is really hard to use in the heat of battle and his moveset does not fit at all in FF6 engine IMO. Cloud and Terra fit perfectly and the White Mage is a White Mage which in FF6 is not that impressive when in theory all your characters can have all Magic at their disposal by the final boss. It really made me realize how broken FF6 become by the end of the game where everyone can be throwing Ultimas like it was candy.
Seph is one of the fights people die the most. I think the real difficulty is that I'm basically tossing the players into a final boss fight and they don't know the game so well (even though they've played other FF games).
When I play it I know all the prep-work that's needed to beat him, but I can't expect new players to know that.
I'm building a rogue-like mode where you'll fight enemies, grow in strength and eventually fight a final boss. This way the player will learn how to prep for some fights.
Noctis being considered shit is an example of that. He really is hard to use but also a powerful character if you know how to use him. He's got so many features and fail conditions that he's useless if you don't know the ins and outs.
Some tips (assuming you're on the latest build): Equip Terra with Peace Ring and Espers that give her Dispel and Esuna.
Bring the White Mage along. When Seph hits with his Supernova, Terra can use Esuna on the White Mage (in case of silence/confuse) and the White Mage will use Great Gospel (GRTG) to heal the entire party's HP and MP as well as clear any negative status and give them brief immortality.
You gotta make sure Terra's alive, so she's in the support role for this battle.
The White Mage can also rescue characters from petrification (Soft) and negative status (Esuna)
On the offensive, Noctis can be very useful.
His Warp attacks will hit Seph even if Seph starts flying. You can risk warping Noctis to the other side of the arena, so he can do warp strike back attacks and deal even more damage to Sephiroth. If Noctis dies, any healing spell or item will revive him (as long as his in Danger mode, you can tell if he's in Danger mode if he's on critical position and his HP is red, draining out). Also, remember healing items can't be used on allies across the enemy, but healing spells can.
A Black Mage is also another good option for offense. Boost before casting a spell is always worth it, but in this fight it can be risky because of Seph's negative status.
Start out boosting and using Nuke. Later you can also use Temper/Saber to raise Noctis' physical attack.
Noctis + Temper + Warp Strike + Back attacks will do a ton of damage to Seph. You can do even more damage if you can time it with Noctis' level 1 Tech which breaks enemy defense.
Some more noctis tips: warp strikes do more damage if he's on the back row, warp strikes consume MP (and the White Mage's Pray can sometimes heal MP), Noctis MP regenerates on its own, just don't drop it down to absolute zero because in this case it takes a little longer to regenerate. If you're stuck on the other side and don't have MP to warp back, use the Regroup Tech (which will also heal your allies).
Noctis' Royal Guard tech is also super useful, it'll prevent two attacks against party members. Last Noctis tip: if you are using royal arms (any weapons that have a weird icon) they actually consume your HP everytime you attack, so use them carefully.
If you hit hard enough early on, you can wipe out Seph before he even uses Supernova.
Also one thing I'm doing for this game is re-balancing things in such way the characters can't have all types of spells at once (or at least can't have all types of spell AND use them perfectly)
For an instance, the Life spell is only available to a few characters now (White Mage, Cecil, Terra, Yuna)
