Im sure there is a swimbait bite somewhere on the lake but I haven't been on Douglas since April because my boat has been in the shop to have a new lower unit put on so I cant say for sure. Good luck this weekend.

Finally bought a decent bass boat. I took the kids out the other day, didn't get to do much serious fishing. First time I've been on douglas in 15 years.
I'm 15 mins from Walter's Bridge. Where would you suggest going from there to land some bass, up the river or down lake?

Very informative video for this Floridian. I'm heading there in 2 weeks, with my boat. I understand in the heart of the summer, it's tough fishing. In your opinion, should I just forget about beating the bank, and just try to find offshore fish? I'm going up there blind, other than watching videos like yours.
Also, is there any tips you'd pass along for catching smallmouth? It'd be too cool to catch at least one of those. Thanks for any other advice. This video alone was a great starting point.

Great video Ryan.Have you tried the Berkley Dredger yet ? Its smaller compared to the 10 xd and has a weight built in to the bill to stay in the strike zone longer.
I have a few of them and have caught fish on them.

Nice job! Just started fishing Douglas serious this season. Are the community holes on Douglas marked on most maps (Garmin)? Found some structure while graphing and had some luck but nothing consistent.
When you hear me say comminity hole im just referring to a spot that a higher number of people know about and fish so these spots wouldn’t be something that would be marked on any map unless you were to actually go to one and place a waypoint there on your unit.

I havent done much bank fishing at all on Douglas so I couldn’t answer that but I do know that you can catch bass on Douglas from one end of the lake to the other.

Im not sure exactly which rod your referring to since all my rods but one are white lol but I listed all the rods I used in the video in the description so that will tell you exactly which one im using.

I have two that I have used for around a year now and I really like them. For the price they are hard to beat in my opinion, very light comfortable rods that I use for alot of different techniques. I havent tried a triad spinning rod yet though.
