Nice review with your usual enthusiasm. Bill, Peter and Paul put a really good set of books together, showing a passion and understanding of the theatre. Then Simon knocked it out the park, as you note on the production, the ring binding just setting the usability of the product off. It was a privilege to have the figures from our Project Auldearn blog featured, forced us to go a get them out and make us think about playing more games with them. Great to see you use the Audearn scenario as a go-by and play it with your mate.
⭐️ very helpful review of what looks to be an excellent product…100% agree with spiral binding being way preferable, even uniform guides should have it….am just about to venture into the Thirty Years War and am thinking this may be adaptable as a way in⭐️ thanks 👍
Completely agree with you in regards of ring bindings. It gets even worse when the format shrinks to A5. The only other option are rulebooks with really flexible hardbacks but that is a whole other level of production costs and you still can't flip them together to half size like you can with ring bindings.
The thing is these books are meant to be referenced... Alot. It's totally fine having really lovely hardbacks that looks good on a shelf but maybe we need more "gaming editions", ones without the fluff etc, simply the rules, spiral bound, done haha 😁
Nice review! I've bought the two books and agree they look really tempting. I mostly play P&S but have played, and enjoyed, a few games of FK&P before now. These new books have inspired me to mark-up some cloths with grids ready for some more games 'North of the border.
For a really good podcast on this period I can recommend Pax Britannica it covers the 3 kingdoms in great depth politically and socially. We'll worth a listen. 9:47

Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it 👍🙂
Great review, yeah I like spiral bound too. I sometimes get a pdf copy of rules to get printed locally
I've done that as well, especially when rules use alot of charts, it's the way forward 😁
Lovely production! Having a list of the models you require for all the scenarios at the start of the book should be standardised for all wargames!
Absolutely 😁

I definitely think that the scenarios and lists could form the basis for games across many systems 👍
Sweet! Would love to see a FKaP battle report on the channel! Currently putting two small armies together myself.
It's definitely something I'd be interested in doing, just have to convince an opponent 👍

Haha excellent, can't wait to see them 👍
Nice review martin, i really like spiral bound books too! I will be picking these up i think.
Excellent, they are lovely books 👍
Would be good to see some of the epic range used for games
There does seem to be a lack of Epic Reports, except Dom's of course 👍
Very nice review mate
Thanks buddy 👍
Thanks for the review! Honestly I don’t know why more rule books don’t have spiral binding.
Seems to be a common thread haha 👍
Great review love the books not into the English Civil War but the very good books for other stuff🤠🤠🤠
Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Great review, interesting period...!!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍

Thanks for that mate, I'll certainly be checking that out 👍
as a Campbell I love to hate Montrose but great vid :)
Dude, as a MacDugall I suggestion we better do a rematch scenario of the Battle of Red Ford. Anyhow, that’s an excellent game and congrats to 7th Son.
As a Mackintosh I love to hate argyll and his minions,G.S.T.K.!!! ☺(Great review Martin, will probably get these to use with P+S)
Haha thanks very much
