the guitarist from missing persons is warren cuccerullo who used to play with frank zappa in the late 70's until steve vai took over and then in the 90's with duran duran. he wrote ordinary world one of their biggest hits from the wedding album.
Hey man , really appreciate all your vids . Long time fan..thanks for this tune..one of the most underrated bands of that era.I loved the album cover as well..gaga totally ripped her off...cheers from Australia..tw
THANKS JAMES!!!! I struggled forever trying to play this tune in standard pitch, thanks for unlocking the mystery. When I saw them in concert Warren seemed to stick with standard pitch and didn't switch guitars much. harmonic goodness ! "Media overload bombarding us" "What are words for? When no one listens anyway?"
The guitar used in the video was similar to the Steinbergers of the time. Many had Trans-Trems, allowing quick changes (ie half and whole step drops). That one doesn't appear to have one, but so many of those videos weren't using the real instruments.
@@jamesjames9275 I see, gotcha. I notice so many songs I tend to play along to with Chordify are sometimes not only a half or full step down, or half up, but also in a strange pitch setting. Thank God for the Korg tuners I have! I cannot do that stuff by ear. Case in point is Led Zeppelin's Hey Hey What Can I Do, once you get the pitch right, it sounds spot-on to the record.
When you did Destination Unknown, I was hoping you'd get to Words!!!! I'll break out my Steinberger and play it in true 80's style... As always, thank you.
Great tone JJ! Warren,Terry and Patrick were really amazing musicians but played for the song with this band! Like the New Wave Asia😂( The Band for you young longs)
Are you sure this is downtuned? I was playing along a good deal to the song the past year or two, using the Chordify sources, the main "video" "live" version from MTV days is in standard tuning for sure, as is some other remastered version.
Why did I never realize that little fill was all harmonics? Thanks again for your stellar translation of a fun, older song into something us humans can understand
Thanks!!! I always wanted to learn this tune. Was going to learn it on my Strat with the Seymour Duncan SSL-5/SSL-5/JB Jr on position #2, do you think this will work through a Fender Tube Amp?
I just run my Telecaster through any decent amp model with some gain and crunch going on, and chorus and delay, and you should be able to nail that tone.I recommend getting something like the Blackstar modeling amps which have crunch channels built in.
Where did you get your Schecter? I've been looking for one just like it for years. They stopped putting on a standard Tele headstock years ago - basically after Pete Townsend stopped using them.
🤘 That is sick. I never realized how awesome of a guitar riff that song had... until I watched you play it. Great job.
I listen to this song while working .. head phones.. loud.. love Missing Persons. Still.
Has any else wondered if Lady Gaga copied her whole persona from Dale Bozzio?
kztex Lady Gaga totally stole Dale Bozzio's persona
It was easy to copy her. The modern music crowd has a memory of 2 years and has no knowledge of Dale or anyone else from before 2005.
Yep
What was that you were saying about tune down a half step because you’re in standard tuning and so is the song

Love Missing Persons and Dale Bozzio. The 80s Lady Gaga lookalike .both sexy great singers and monster talents
Cool! That album, "Spring Session M" is one of the best-sounding of the entire 1980's. Really good sounding mix.

Song's in standard tuning, at least the old MTV "live" video version is/was.
@@thiscorrosion900. It’s not tuned to 440 for the studio recording.

Younglings
What are words for?... when the music is this good! The best from the Betty Boop of the Eighties.
Bad ass
A bit of heavy metal in that.
Of course I'll introduce you to Warren!
You have great ears! Thanks
You rock, James!
Excellent boy

I like your shirt.

It works well this way, but I think Warren used pick harmonics for this?
Add enough gain and crunch and it sounds great.
He did. He pinches the A string down, up then down again on the neck to get those harmonics. @@bigjoescientist
Excellent
Very nice
