  • We are Melissa and Paul, enjoying life together the second time around and making the most of it. Walking the nearly 500-mile Camino de Santiago from St. Jean Pied-de-Port in France, over the Pyrenees, and across Spain to Santiago de Compostela was truly an incredible, life-changing event. Every pilgrim walking the Camino takes a personal voyage, all the while sharing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual experiences. There is no question that the Camino was a profound experience, where we learned more about ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses, the objects, ideas, and issues (large and small, both physical and emotional) that we enjoyed and loved but were also forced to confront, at times. Many thanks to our extraordinary Camino family that came together throughout the walk and stayed together to the end. We never could have imagined gaining such a group of friends that we can now call our brothers and sisters.

    What a great journey on the Camino Frances , I completed my Camino ( CF) from SJPP , in May/June 2022, ( reached Santiago on June 5th) at age 72 , and oh God ! I missed the BOTAFUMEIRO swinging , after my Camino , it never happened for three days I was in Santiago Cathedral. But , what a spiritual uplifting it was, Oh Memories.. so Fresh, so entrenched in mind body and soul. What a walk on the Camino it was. Once in a life achievement. Great video, Thankyou, Buen Camino to all. Cheers! 🇨🇦

      So glad you enjoyed the video. Being able to experience a mass in the cathedral with the swinging of the Botafumeiro was, indeed, one of the highlights of the trip. Buen Camino!

    39:02 -- the monastery at Rabanal del Camino, about 20 km after Astorga. I was just there! It was a rainy day, and I was cold and tired, so I stopped at the municipal albergue rather than continue the climb up to Foncebadon....This year, I started in Madrid all the way up to Sahagun, and then the CF to Santiago. At the end of the video, although I've seen the butafumeiro perhaps 8-10 times over the years, I've never seen it without the organ being played. Was that the midday Mass?

    • @anothertimethistime2155
      @anothertimethistime2155  Год назад

      That sounds like quite a walk...from Madrid! And yes, we were there for the midday Mass. The choir sang throughout, but no organ.

    I will be planning my Camino next year for May- June time frame. Acouple of questions for you'all. What was your start date and how long did it take to arrive at Santiago? Over all how was the weather over the mountains? Thank-you for the video you shared. very enjoyable!

      We left SJPP May 7, walking 33 days with 2 rest days. We had magnificent weather the whole trip, including over the mountains. The weather can be quite variable in the Pyrenees, though. two weeks before we left SJPP it snowed in the Pyrenees and the Napoleon route was closed for a couple days.

      Glad you liked it. We were on the Way from SJPP to Santiago for 33 days of walking, with two rest days, one in Belorado and one in Leon. We were very fortunate to have had magnificent weather. A couple days of minor, intermittent sprinkles in Galicia, and a couple days early in the walk that were a bit warm, but never too hot. We could not have asked for better weather.

    Another Time, This Time, una pena que a la parte más importante y, quizás, hermosa del Camino, GALICIA, le dedicarais tan poco espacio del vídeo. Casi no filmasteis las partes más hermosas del Camino por Galicia. Unha ligera y corta mirada a Santiago de Compostela, y ya está. Compostela es la culminación del Camino y la parte más fundamental del mismo. Non osbtante, benvidos a Galicia.

    What beautiful video! Looks like we were fellow pilgrims on the same time schedule May 8-June 10? I see we have a mutual friend, Joann M., who is in your video and in ours. I know we had a very different experience staying in hotels vs. alburgues, but I'm sure I saw you along the way. Did you see our video at ruclips.net/video/EfYNi8t5jCE/видео.html
