I was at this game. I was a 20 year old junior at USC. It was epic! Me and my buddies partied like hell after. Marcus won the 2nd Heisman during my 4 years as a USC student. (Charles White in ‘79 was the other). How many people can say they went to school with 2 Heisman winners? Fight On! ✌🏼🤨
Thanks for this....i remember exactly where I was for this game...it was the day before my 10th birthday...I loved Marcus Allen and his 208 yards that day and Fred Cornwell's winning TD with 2 seconds left were the best birthday present.
I remember this game. I was in the 8th grade and had a Pop Warner game the same day. In the car on the way home my late father turned to the station and we listened to the highlights. I was a big OU fan back then. I was mad a Marcus Allen and USC for a long time. Marcus Allen was the smoothest RB I've ever seen.
Incredible elusiveness. This is the thing about running backs- Just because you have speed does not mean you can use it or use it as well as others might. According to what i read he only ran a 4.7 40 ! So what he can use that speed. Eludes blockers and was a great receiver and he from what i understand was a half decent blocker .
Allen was an outstanding blocker, he often stood in the front of the pocket on pass plays and faced D-linemen. His lack of blazing speed was made up for by excellent acceleration, good size and great field vision. He is probably the most complete back to play the game. He could run, block, run pass patterns, catch passes and throw the ball on the option.
@devildog1982z I didn't say we Dominated Marcus Allen, hell nobody stopped Marcus that year....USC defense could not stop Oklahoma's WISHBONE...But Fumbles did
I remember John Robinson singing Elway's praises up and down the media, then he would sick his linebackers on him. Elway sure would rather have those linebackers playing for his team's defense.

Here in 2023. And to this day, Marcus Allen is my all-time favorite football player.

Wow, 40 carries in one game.
I remember watching this game as a 13 year old in Norfolk, Va.

I think on the football field he was more like 4.4 Very Rare that anyone ever caught him.
he blocked for Charles White for years.
He had the greatest season of all the USC Heisman Trophy winners
I only count 137,000 carries this game. Is that the official #?
i was at this game, i have pics, and i got Marcus to sign one for me when he was with the Raiders
I was 15 yrs old and a sooner fan. OU dominated the game but kept fumbling the ball and USC won with 2 secs left. I cried.
I was 16 and a USC fan I remember the years before this Billy & Charles going at it,great stuff...
the SOONER we beat you , the SOONER you go home.
Giving up 200 yards is dominating?

@@wejuggernautentertainmentl3156 PLEEZZZZZZ nobody Stopped Marcus that year
Great push off the line against a very good defense. Some of Marcus's cuts against the grain were just sick.
Beautiful work by the front 5
No discredit to Marcus
But those were some pretty sweet running lanes
I think the 1983 Washington Redskins would disagree...
John Elway later said if he had to do it over again he'd go to USC. Imagine Elway and Allen in the same backfield.
I remember John Robinson singing Elway's praises up and down the media, then he would sick his linebackers on him. Elway sure would rather have those linebackers playing for his team's defense.
I wish
Marcus and O line just bullying Okla
Too bad USC fizzled later in season
Nice!
