Been in the exterior cleaning business for over 26 years. You are doing a fine job helping others. Great job showing others some different ways to clean. The X-jet is a great tool to have that can be used with pressure washers or a pump. My advice is to keep things simple. There are a 1000 ways to clean. Learn the best and most simple methods. Dont get caught up in all bells and whistles. Learn a system and stay with it. Always be prepared the day before a job. Make sure all you fittings, pumps, nozzles, hoses, tips, o rings are in good working condition. Take the time to keep equipment clean and maintained. Be upfront and honest with all your clients. Take the time to be safe. There is a giant market and need for professional cleners. Do it right.

Great explanations! And yes, these are great innovations to our industry. Here is my take though, for what it's worth. Simplicity is critical for me, and here's the reason why. STUFF breaks......all the time. It is just part of the deal. For that reason, I have decided to continue to batch mix. Yes, it is less convenient, but in my case, 90% of want I do is housewashing, which I downstream. For the 10 or even 20% of the time that I need a mix hotter than what you can get downstreaming, I make a batch to the strength needed. I say this for the younger guys so they can keep things in perspective. If you are doing a ton of work that requires a hotter mix, then the mixng valves will boost your efficiency. But understand, it is also another point of failure, and if you get an air leak, you are going to be chasing it down while on the job (because that is where you discover most of your mechanical issues, of course). Bottom line, they are mostly needed for roof washing, so if you are not doing a ton of roof washing, you could get by fine without it.
The FloPro is absolutely essential, and great info. on the distinction between the original version and the other versions. This is something that you will use all the time. It is completely worth the cost.
The X-Jet is something that I have but rarely use. I probably sahould use it more, especially for concrete, but I don't. The one thing that I really don't like about the X-Jet is the idea of dragging a bucket around with you. And keep in mind, there are limitations to the length of hose you could use to draw chemical before it will not pull. Ditto for any situation where you are trying to pull chemical and you are positioned up on a ladder or perhaps on a patio roof trying to hit that dormer. Bottom line, there are limitations and you need to understand that.
Here's the thing to keep in mind. Know your strengths and weaknesses. If you are mechanically inclined and you are dilligent about making sure everything is maintained at all times, then you probably will be fine with all of these innovations. But understand that ALL of this stuff is going to break down over time. Gauranteed. I'll give you another example of something that I do that is probably almost never done throughout the industry. I do not attach my hoses to the hoise reels. For starters, whatever length of hose you have on the reel, it needs to be fully deployed before putting pressure through it, so you are "unreeling" it anyway. Connecting the hose to the reel, gives you a very slight amount of added convenience, but it comes at a cost. Those reels are not cheap, and the internals will fail, many of them use specialized O-0rings that you are likely not going to carry on hand, until you learn the hard way. For me, peeling off the amount of hose I need and manually plugging in to my unloader block literally takes seconds, and it saves my reels from rusting out or having other issues. No, I don't use electric reels. In my opinion, they are just another point of failure. Those motors will go bad, and they are not cheap. Besides, reeling a hose up takes a minute or two, and it also gives me a chance to inspect the hose as I am reeling it up.
My advice for those starting out, don't get WOWED by all this stuff thinking you need it all to get started. You don't! Do everything you can to save yourself from the time and expense of mechanical failure by keeping things as simple as you can. There's comes a point where all these things makes sense, but you have to understand your busness to justify these things. I hope this makes sense to any new guy reading this.
Great advice! You talk about the reality. So true!!! Been in exterior cleaning for 26 years. All your points are valid. You have to take a class in fittings. Basically, you need to be a plumber. You can go insane trying to do just the basic hose to pump to the gun set up. Are you using 3/8 hose 1/2, 5/8. Quick connects? Spray tips. Hose sise inner diameter oiter diameter You name it. Agree, keep things simple. The less fittings and attachment you use the better. I was able to design a cleaning pole for roofs and siding. It took some engineering but you do not need all the bells and whistles. Keep it Simple, safe, and prepare for hard work. Be prepared the day before. It's 90% preparation behind the scenes that gets the job done.

Kyle thank you so much for the shout out and wonderful acknowledgment of the FlowPro as well as the other products. Tim made us all more efficient with the ProPortioner and who hasn’t used an x-jet. It’s a great tool to have in your tool box.
The FlowPro has definitely saved me time and energy and does offer a few advantages over other systems. I will say any remote system is better than not having one at all though.

1405 you could use a pick up tube ball valve. You have to calculate your volumes according to your ball valve position. Ie 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full open. These x jets also have to be sized for your pump n pressure.

Easy fix if you’re on a budget… to get that extra reach when rinsing fill up a bucket of water and put injector in the bucket.
quick hint: drink milk everyday or night and clothes soaking in water and salt then normal washing. it help keep you healthy and clothes detergent effect free
Thank u for explaining the boxes for us. I might sound stupid, but I still don’t get why the 2nd type of box, the sudz box has less flow than the box with a bypass. Does that mean for us guys without boxes, just plain chemical injectors are losing flow even when we aren’t pulling chemical? I’m new to all this and trying to learn. Thanks
Was going to ask the same thing. I image, from a fluid dynamics perspective, it has something to do with the sitting fluid in the line that isn't contributing to the high-pressure flow, and it somehow causes resistance to whatever water is flowing through the DSI.
The injector protrudes into the flow of water which creates an obstacle and lowers the volume of water that's able to pass freely which in turn, makes the stream coming out of the tip of your wand weaker and won't shoot as far.
Have you seen the drone that is available to wash really tall buildings, roofs, and sidings? A company name LA Drones cleaned the Cajun dome with it over here in Louisiana. That's my competitor... Time to get a drone💪

I've always been told to flush my downstream injectors after each use. Is this not correct? I've stayed away from bypasses because of this reason. What do you guys think?

I notice you don’t have heaters
I never go back to the truck to remove my dropstick when washing. I just switch the jrod from the soap orifice back to the water orifice and wait until the line is flushed out to start rinsing. Is there anything wrong with this? Am I supposed to be going back to remove the dropstick every time? Using a gx390 4gpm currently and about to install a gx390 5.5 gpm

If you attached two x-Jets to your gun, would they each pull one gallon of SH per 2 gallons of water, giving you a 50/50 mix? I would test it out but I don’t have two x-jets to test it out with. If so, you would then be able to do roof wash with it.

Working them 2 AM jobs you need more than just a Pressure washer, gun . Lol I used to pressure wash Cars at auto auction in Atlanta At 2 in the Morning it’s a different lifestyle at that time
So question... I'm relatively new, and I'm using an X-Jet for house washes... I went with the X-Jet, because we have a lot of brick and stucco homes around, and I feel that downstreaming will not provide a hot enough mix for dirty stucco... Am I wrong? o_O
you're not wrong. you can even wash roofs with an x jet. pull 100% bleach from your bucket. Down stream injectors are just a little more convenient for vinyl house washes
Not wrong.....If you don't have options others than the xjet.-double back with it wide open and pump up spray the problem areas with a hotter mix and something very sticky. It's what we had to do when we didn't have other options. Make sure you have elemonator or cherry wash to cover that smell!
