Getting Back On Track With The T-34

- With winter just around the corner, I thought it was time to get the T-34 not only undercover but somewhere where the team can work on it properly.
Getting the T-34 in the shed is one thing.
However to get the building back up to a nice working environment will be another.
Working on these sorts of vehicles takes up lots of building space.
It’s not only important for me to be able to work on several different vehicles at once but it’s also important so I can keep a constant variety between projects for your viewing pleasure.
The problem is that Linda doesn’t identify as a Foden 🏴👍🏻
This is true 🤣
@@MrHewesinsurance fiddle. Posh gits
You look like the Joker driving that T34
Never been to Spain
That is a cool jam (song
Maybe by J Field band
He looks like gollum 😮
Was at Tiger Day at Bovington this last Saturday and got to see the FV4005 in person, absolutely cracking job on that Joe, I mean we all know Ted did most of the work.
Your experience is an absolute match for my philosophy- sheer bloody mindedness and bad language will eventually get most things done! Moving a T 34 solo, that was a big ask; should be very proud of yourself Joe.
The whole job would’ve gone a lot smoother if you would’ve consulted Teddy first just saying☝🏻😉
For what it's worth Mr Hewes that T-34 is being rebuilt in more advanced facilities than where it was originally manufactured
Bentley looks nice in the background 👍
Ted, you are doing a superb job work considering the workforce you have 😂
I'm sure you're right. I think for the Battle of Lenningrad they came out of the factory unpainted and went straight in to fight.
This is something I've noticed right... Why do you have to involve a shitty forklift in every job you do? Sometimes multiple 😂 The telehandler is on top of everything so why are you using it to tow a hydrostatic fork truck, that's inexplicably attached to what you actually want to move 🤷♂️
Using a telehandler to tow a fork lift with locked up wheels to tow a turret?! Idiot! 😂
I've just subbed... 😆
If it works don't fix it . Some times it's best not to ask and just revel in the fact it worked . After all my favourite saying when things go wrong is " well no one died " .....unless of cause some one did then not a good idea .
It's called _entertainment_ 😉
Tell me you haven't worked on a farm without telling me
..
Can't believe it's already been 2 years! Thanks for all your hard work, Mr Hewes!
I’ve gotta say that Im Impressed with Teds organisational skills in keeping you boys in-line but also his impressive collection of fire extinguishers at 12:20. He does look a proud lad.
Wow, I can’t believe it, I was hooked on your channel, the first time I watched you guys with the T-34 and it’s been 2yrs already. It seems like it’s gone full circle since then. Watching you, Jack and the rest of the guys work and have fun is enjoyable and even watching your girlfriend getting involved in some of the projects. Excited to see you catching up on the T-34. Cheers to you all.
I blame Ted, as project manager, for letting this project slip so much.
I still can't believe it ran with the engine completely trashed
Great isn’t it
Great soviet engineering.
Wrong title! Joe discovers how to be a project manager!!!
TED won't be happy, that's his job!!!! 😂😂😂
So you completely negated to mention you’re logo on the front of the avre 😮
The dogs playing in the background throughout the video are cute.
Just Ted having a break
Has Ted got a friend to play with?
Wait, when did you get more than one fire extinguisher.
When they get another dog?
I think he has shares in Chubb , although there are many other makes of fire extinguisher available 😅
When things started setting on fire more regularly then anticipated.
Possibly acquired a load when the local hospitals replaced theirs.
I'm in a Motor Club in the North West and we needed some extinguishers. I also worked for a NHS Trust. I spoke to the Trust Fire Safety Officer. He said, "How many do you want? We have about 300 old ones."
I'd come over and help, but I'm in northern Idaho. Help with the tanks - I'm not a mason. But I am a mechanic and spent some time as an M2 Bradley turret mech.
You only needed to have that safety strap until you put it on, when it then becomes redundant lol
What happened to the Aqua blasting kit you had so no need to Needle gun
I think the compressor is broken.
@@audreyfforbes-hamilton thought he was a mechanic...ish

Ted Tanks Rule OK ! 😁😁😀😀
'Getting back on track' oh you are such a one Mr Joe. 😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Left or right 😉 which way does it swing.
Very punny.
Simple physics Mr Hewes, the hull has more wheels to spread the weight, the turret was on a dolly with small casters so it was guaranteed to dig in. 😉.
Why are you needlegunning the AVRE, and not waterblasting? Asking for a friend
For manny reasons il be sure to explain in detail in the next video
Regarding your emblem painted on the front of the T-34, I also saw on the OT-64 SKOT an emblem of a dog’s profile within a badge, which I think I’ve seen before, logically Polish or Czechoslovakian military perhaps. You really should create a similar emblem for all your vehicles using Ted’s profile. Once he’s noticed you painting your own name on the tanks, Poo will probably insist on it.
Master and aprentice aka Ted and Chisel face aka The Gate keepers !
Doing Doggo stuff aka Important stuff... OK !
😉
Smells like metal and vodka.
🤔 Think my brick work is as good as my spannering. Poor old linde 🫣
I suspect the size of the wheels has something to do with it. Could you have found anything with smaller wheels for the turret? I mean, it only weights about 5 ton.
Yes that frame with wheels is only one up from a shopping trolley .
....that was exactly what I was thinking - people are blaming Joe for using the forklift to tow but if the turret jig had larger wheels it would of been far easier especially on that wet ground.
@@blaze1148 Of cause tracks are better than wheels , so can you imagine if they had mounted it on some thing with tracks .......oh wait 😂 .
@@zeberdee1972 😆
Turret heavy , frame is narrow , small wheels , high psi through ground equals hard to move. Hull wide, larger , wider wheels more of them ,reduced psi , easier to move.. EXACTLY why rsnks str designed like that
You could use an epoxy primer, it's waterproof and sticks amazingly
Well Mr Hewes, that 2 years has gone by fast,, nice to see the T-34 on the move again. 👏👏👏
Impressive driving, always a pleasure watching. thanks.
It’s been raining 🌧 loads lately.
In my head i heard..... "How hard can it be ???" 🤣
I wonder who Ted thinks you are talking to? I like how he just sits there while you wander around showing us things.
If you give me a place to pitch up ⛺️
I'll come and labour for you dude.
You sound pretty local to me. 👋 😎
You need a rail system for transporting heavy shit round the yard 1:31 them dolly wheels will sit inside a big i beem on its side an it wont sink altho it will have less control😂
Nicely done Ted. Joe should have gotten you to move the turret as well...
Ted did a good job as always .🍺
love the ending lol
How much fun are Ted and Chis having haha
"Safety chain"? What is this? Workshop Wednesday? Thanks for the T-34 update. Looking forward to future progress.
I'm a carpenter, not a bricky. But I'll gladly help with the doors.
Give me a shout 👍🏻
its funny(not) that when one is by oneself, the "easy" jobs always seem to take for ever. (Even changing a hydraulic oil filter, 1.5 hours, and it is accessable)
What number was originally on the side? I’m trying to paint your tank at 1:100 scale for Flames of War.
how many stamps do you use for your health and safety statement ?
Ahh the T mobile smoke screen generator MK 34
Not quite sure why you did not just use the JCB
Brilliant bit of work getting a bit of Russia to inhabit somewhere else, usually they do that themselves. Bravo.
Teds having fun though
Yep.. The Linde hydrostatic drive is a real pain when you're on you own and get it stuck..
Looked like a scene from Kelly’s heroes putting the turret and gun in the building ( we got it by its ass ) proper keep up the good work cheers
You do the good work,on you're one. and still thinking, how to remove, inside the shed, Great 👍👍👍
Another great video Mr.Hewes. i just noticed tho, you didnt say anything about the Stencil/metal work of the FV4005 on the Centurion. thatll look great as a logo
My buddy made it for me
@@MrHewes your Buddy's got some skill, as do you sir. hope you enjoy the rest of your day/evening.
from Saskatoon, Canada
It was great to see Ted enjoying a play with his friend. We works far too hard to skip an opportunity for some fun!
Forklifts are not designed to tow or push. Thats why they called lift trucks. The reason for the tow bar is for recovering it should it breakdown. You will burn out the transmission or with the Linde damage the hydrostatic drive.
There is an old saying that most ex-forces will have heard at some point in their career , " adapt and overcome " . Which in normal English means " I don't care how you do it and I don't want to know how your going to do it but get it done " . Usual after adapt and overcome came just don't break anything 😅 .
It’s Lindy they don’t break down so it must be for pulling
@@MrHewes I would say I'd pull Lindy , but it just sounds wrong 😂
@@MrHewes There will be a section in the Linde's operator manual that explains the procedure for towing a disabled machine, its a bit of a faff to do but it will save you damaging the hydrostatic drive motor.. If that gets damaged you'll probably have to scrap the machine as they cost a fortune to repair/replace..
The procedure is the equivalent of dropping the prop-shaft off or removing a half shaft from the differential..
I'm old enough to remember when Telehandlers started to appear on farms in my area , such a handy tool to have at ones disposal (obviously not as handy as Ted and the Foden) and so much better than a Fordson power major with a shitty loader on it like we had lol
You need to drill a hole in the end off your pallet tyne, you then can put a pin in pointing skyward with a clip to clamp to the tyne. You can then move things around using the pin and straps and chains cannot slip off
Toptastic glad lord Teddy is staying dry in all this rain
Good result getting that shifted on your own sometimes when your on your own it's amazing what you get done with sheer determination 💪
Grab a cider 🤠
Pyrometer lite said to shift.
High Five - Bro.s
Everybody’s faourite tank 😁
Great job, looking forward to this one getting some attention
YAS! first vote finally LOL
Haha back on track… I see what you did there…
That t34 will be better than factory😉
WoopWoop! Our bestest comrade returns!
The fact it lasted so long while in bits still amazes me
thanks Ted, that you keep an eye on Mr Hewes. lol
Problem was ground pressure 😊
Ted good days work never a dull moment .
New T-34 video out.... Stopped painting my house just to watch it... Wife not happy-
🤣
where's Ted, Jack and Adam???
So nice to see Ted educating the next generation
good 2 see you back on ww2's worst tank lol
How old is Ted the supervisor?
delighted to see more t-34 content!
Do you think it might be more cost effective to buy some sort of blasting system to remove old paint? The needle gun itself is cheap but labor isn't.
Fantastic work as a solo warrior sir!
Excellent, as always. C
Good luck on the engine (:
Good solo work. What is what looks like an old furnace door bove the T34 gun barrel?
That would have been for the upstairs chimney when that workshop was originally the servant quarters
Normal is 90° ✓D
You must fill in hundreds of “risk assessment/H&S” forms 😉🤣
Yeah……
Nice bit of kit that
Really looking forward to seeing the T-34 fully restored. One of my favourite looking tanks.👍😎🇦🇺❤️
The place I work at has various Linda's from 2 tons to 7 tons , they all lift well over those ratings. I'd still like a Tank preferably a Cromwell, only chance of that is a stick together airfix job. Great entertainment beats ordinary tv hands down cheers 👍
2 year blimey 🎉❤
Why was the Turret such a barsteward and the main body so easy ? In two simple words---
Bigger Wheels ! When you've got nothing to do 🤣, you need to adapt that dolly and fit Bigger wheels, eg. something like Land Rover Wolf style. You would need to fabricate some sort of stub axles so you don't alter the overall height much and get rid of those Piano size casters.
Love the channel, thanks for taking the time to share what you love doing😊.
Weather has been ##### every time I step outside it chucks it down....I can't stop wearing shorts until the clocks change (it's just a thing) and I have no idea where my work jacket is 🤦♂️. Anyway appreciate the video and we'll done one getting stuff done.
Oh bugger.... few expressions are better to say. Nicely done and Teddy was in control, no worries. Jack not wandering about moaning about his mum was nice too, Cheers mate.
Nice metal logo. Any plans on have that as a sticker or other merch?
Will be updating the merch store very soon
i may be on the other side of the planet in the colonies (NZ) and ive never done brickwork before, but id give it a go, i have extensive experience turning old sheds into other things and incomplete things into sheds, i converted a 1940's wool shed into a bedroom that i lived in for 2 years using reclaimed crate panels, i turned the lean-to carport connected to the woolshed into a workshop using reclaimed palletwood which included a swing open double wide door that had a pedestrian door built into it.
Convert it to 2 x 2”su carbs it would save gallons of fuel and wouldn’t run like a bag of sh1t, I know it’s 27 litres but it only revs to 2200 so the induction volume is low and you could sell the conversion! (I am talking about the cent obviously)
Good video. The work will go better and more smoothly once you have painted out and weather sealed the workshop. Right work proceeds from right thinking which proceeds from right surroundings. Good job moving that yourself. And to think I pat myself on the back because I managed to get the Harrison milling machine I am restoring out of my workshop to paint strip it, by myself. Mind you, I don't have a forklift or a telehandler.
Wow!!!! Wow!!! Something better than that tank turret in the yard .. the young English bull terrier…😍😍😍😍🥰🥰 is this teds new play mate beautiful
Lot for you to do and us to view .🤣. Does chisel head have a name ?
Sky
now, if you poked a hole in the brickwork, you could have the barrel stored al fresco, extra 10 foot of space in workshop...
Was beginning to think you’d forgotten the RUclips password! cheers for the video ted 👍🏻
Congrats to you sir for managing all this on your own while holding a camera 😂 that’s bloody impressive
Shocking camera work tho 🤣
@@MrHewes I wouldn’t say that. We all still enjoyed it so fair play 🤩
5:51 I'm not proud of it! But I managed to smash the roof window on my toyota closed cab 30 hst auto box forklift at work the other day! Dropped a couple of pallets from 4 meters up!😮
Bloody wish I could volunteer and help out, I'd love doing the crap jobs and learn - I'm a network engineer 😂
I used to work for Linde lift building the fork lifts, in order to move or tow the lift truck you have to unlock the hydraulic motor and brake system, look at the brake valve and you will find a grease nipple. Insert grease with your grease gun manually until the brakes are released. Do not use too much pressure as you will damage the system. You will find the complete procedure in the operator manual that must be with the truck, probably in the pouch behind the seat
