So I added these along with a small compressor on my 2011 road glide. Today was my first chance to take it for a ride. It was absolutely wonderful. So much of a better ride
Thanks for posting, I got a pair in a damaged packaging ones on Amazon for like $75 total, and put them on my 2006 Sportster (with a few tweeks). Way happy at about 33# of pressure. Going to get some more.
Another great option for you guys on the later model touring bikes with air is to find a pair of take-offs from a newer model. They are adjustable, cheap and work great. Best thing I ever did for my 2007 Ultra. There are a TON of BRAND NEW take-offs out there from guys upgrading to Legends or Ohlins, they bolt right up, no MODS. Just a tip from another Harley Guy on a budget!
Work great compared to what you’re coming from, which was atrocious. First thing I changed was those “adjustable” HD shocks. You don’t have to spend what some of us do, get a set of Progressive 412’s for under $300 and it’s 100x’s better than what HD offers.
My set is on the way. 2013 ultra classic. Sitting on the seat you can barely get the rears to move. Summit racing sells the kit for less than $75 plus shipping. Looking at trying the intimidators from dk customs in front forks. $199 plus fork oil. If it works a total suspension upgrade for around $300.
So I went ahead and put these on my 2013 ElectraGlide. They are amazing. My stock shocks also stop holding air. I am totally satisfied. It only took about an hour to change out everything and get back on the road.
Thanks for the tip and insights.I'll have to give them a try. Also something a bit more compact than the portable electric compressor, might be a bicycle hand pump, (I think you can get to about 80psi with the better ones), or a bike/motorcycle shock hand pump that go to like 250psi, but do it in a lot of small strokes, but should be fine for topping up suspension on the road. Also, I see Gabriel 49304 HiJackers are the same fitment but are a little different design.
Ran this set-up on 2 bikes now - 2010 UC and 2015 RG. Paid $75 for the shocks and $120 for a ViAir compressor which is stashed behind my right side cover. No ABS or security allows this location but can install on touring bag support rail too. Anyway, entire setup with a electropneumatic Firestone switch, relays cost me $300 for an amazing setup and fantastic ride.
I'd suggest you do a video showing the shocks on your bike, and how you set them up with the modifications needed, for those who are having a bit of trouble following what you're describing.... like me😂. But seriously, I've got an 09 RK and I was only wondering if there was a car shock that might fit.... me being a heavier type of fella.
Great thing to know, my Road Glide rides like crap. Previous owner replaced the stock air shocks with Burley lowering shocks. Hit a good size bump in the road and you feel it through your whole spine.
Do you have or is there and installation video on this? Thank you, great tip.. also I 5 5 so i but the lowering blocks in i hate them. If i install this would it be equivalent to dropping the bike 2"s? 😊
Yes I’m 5’7 and I can barely reach the floor, to the point that I haven’t ridden it cause I’m kind scared of dropping it! So does it or can it lower my street glide
Just installed mine. Pretty easy install. Be careful and go slow opening up the top bushings. I used a half inch drill bit. Instead of cutting the lower part I went to tractor supply and bought 2 3inch 13 pitch half inch flanged bolts. Rides a lot better at about 70psi. Not for the front…
This has been around for years. JnR air ride uses these shocks along with other air ride companies. I had the JnR system on my street glide for 3 years and when I traded that bike for my 2018 RGS I went with Legend Revo A. Once you get a great suspension there is no going back
Super great info. I was in the market for some progressive 412 because I don’t want to spend a grand on shocks. I ride a 2017 road glide special and I do things on a budget also. I have put a few install videos on RUclips channel also to help people out. I will definitely have to try this and I believe it will help me out because I’m a big guy also, 6’5 330 pounds. Thanks for the info and keep it up I’ll be tuned in.
Save your money to buy a better shock than the Progressive 412. They are junk. I put a set of HD 412"s on my '21 Road King, road to mts. and could not wait to get back and put the original's on even though they are crap but better than the Progressive. JMHO
I would like to know if they will work on a 1992 Electra Glide Ultra Classic. If anyone knows I would appreciate the feed back? Thanks in advance. Great video.
Wal-Mart / Amazon = $78.00 I have a 2015 RGS and needing rear shocks, sounds like a plan. Can you do a short video of your hose routing? I don't have air at this time. Or I can just full them independent UNLESS the air pressure migrates back and fourth, not sure. Thanks.
Helping to grow your channel! This is interesting! Thinking on this. I don't see why not. I think you hit on a good find! I have not hurt anyone doing this but willing to check it out! Thank you.
I would never recommend swedging the bolt holes on the shock mounts. Best to get the right drill and drill them out a wee bit. The rest of this is interesting as hell. Great do. It would have been good if you had done video of the modification process.
I installed these on my 2016 Road Glide. I aired them up to about 40 psi. It road really hard. When I hit a rough spot, it hit really hard. Guess I have to play with the air pressure. You said you set yours to 50 psi?
Great information. I may try this on my 15 Street Glide. Question, how tall are you and your approximate weight? This is so I'll know how much air to use.
@@RoadGlideGarage Thanks. So you don't have a compressor or dump selonoid. You just have an air valve and add or release air like a car tire? Is this correct?
Wow this is the exact info/diy hack ive been looking for. So in theory if the stock shocks are 13” you can run enough air in these MA785’s to get them to be 12”…so you get an inch lower seat height plus a better ride. Correct?
Hey I just found your Chanel, really enjoyed the video. I have a road glide as well, 2012 to be honest, I am really interested in this, I am on a budget as well one thing I really have always thought was a great mod was a race the emulators and stiffer springs for the front, I don't run out and buy the newest bikes so I don't know the exact price but I think I did this mod for about $300? and it helps out so much on the front end.
@@RoadGlideGarage 2014 SGS 1st pair lasted almost 45,000 in Florida. Get yourself a GOOD handlebar control!!! 👍 oh and a gauge so you can play with the pressures as your riding.
I bought my first Harley a couple of years ago. I’ve been riding Japanese bikes for the past thirty years. The one thing that jumped out at me is how terrible the stock factory shocks were, pure junk. Harley should be embarrassed for putting this garbage on their bikes, the damping is non-existent. I bought a set of Ohlins 359’s it totally transformed the bike. The bike handles impressively well now, hi speed sweepers are fun. So much so that I am hitting the floor boards frequently. Do yourself a favour, throw the stock shocks in the garbage and buy a set of Ohlins or Legends (mine are rebound and pre-load adjustable, you don’t anymore adjustability than that). You’d be amazed how well a Harley can handle with better shocks - I was.
Harleys air shocks suck. Corvette shocks is the only way to go. Get a on board compressor and your life will be complete. Thank you for the most important video on RUclips. Your service to mankind is valuable beyond estimation. I had the Ryobi compressor, didn't last long. Harbor Freight has ultra small compressors.

That road you’re riding on reminds me of west texas and south east New Mexico
Can you do a more detailed video on the shock.. and installation on the bike
I will as soon as I can get to it. Might be a week or so

Great, unfortunately it doesn't work for me because I'm short, 26inch inseam, I have to go with Burly slammer shocks "/

The should. But I would pull some measurements and make sure.

You want them connected, or it will have to be exactly the same psi. it will make the bike try to twist if different pressures.
How about early model road kings think it would fit?
Great hack! Money saver.
Figures I just bought drag specialties for 300. 👍
That’s my luck also buddy

Viair compressor and a dump valve!!
Will they work on a 2020 road glide special I hate the o m shocks way to hard

Your near Bakersfield
Yes sir.
If the shocks totally lose air will the tire rub the fender?
Yes it would rub.
Would these shocks fit my 2001 road king ?
You would have to pull some bolt to bolt measurements. But I don’t think much has changed in that measurement
Did it work I’m wondering about a 2004 EG
I have a 96 flhtc-i touring model,I dont here much on the front air systems ,I want to delete these ,have you heard anything about this ?
Do you think this would work on a evo ultra classic
I would measure the stock shock and compare to the Monroe. It should work when I think of my shock on my old evo.

Way to low, With myself I ride at 65-70psi. With wife 80-85psi.
do you think the ma785 would work for a 1985 evo electra glide flt?
You would have to verify measurements. I am not familiar with those shocks
Will they fit on a 2020 roadglide special ???
Don't kid yourself
Legend shock on front and rear is a totally different riding experience. If you can afford it.
