Paula Abdul was the choreographer for George Michael, Debbie Gibson, Dolly Parton, Janet Jackson, The Jacksons (Group), ZZ Top, and many more. She was a Dancer before a singer, and learned in tap, jazz, ballet, and modern dance, & was a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers at the age of 19 & would quickly become the head choreographer for the Laker Girls. She is so multi-talented, and always loved singing as well, so she definitely was a triple threat, and very loved by all her fans!!. This song was also sampled by Rapper J. Cole - Work Out......
This song was her very first hit for her, Virgin almost abandonning her after two flop singles while a thing changing it. The San Franscisco radio started to playing ''Straight Up'' and became immediatly a huge radio playing and all radios embarqued it also. Because of that, Virgin released this song and was a massive single and her first hit, but also her first n.1 single.
Opposites Attract was a duet w a cat, aka MC Skat Kat. Let's face it, Paula's music and videos are light-hearted danceable pop music of the 80s- early 90s. Check out her 90s track "Vibeology" too.
this was the song that sent the first album to the top of the charts. what a banger. huge hit. album was going nowhere fast prob why they didn't spend much money on the first videos. all the videos after this one are high quality and look expensive. lol
If that was her doing the tap in the beginning. Big props. That's a dying art.....well, this song is old, but tap is still dying. Love this song from back in the day. Thanks for your reaction.
Commercial can be good if the song is really good also, as appose to not so good and played over and over and get sick of hearing it very quickly, this is a really good one her best
Whitney, MJ, Queen... they were all on the radio 24/7. Would you say the same about them because they were played ubiquitously? Paula is popular for a simple reason: she has talent. You don't have to like all her music, all her songs. It seems that you're struggling a little to discover you might like someone who's a pop star. No shame in that! Like what you like and be done with it.
@@aboycalledvenus I remember falling asleep in my buddies van to Promises of a New Day in between back to back days watching the Blue Jays in Seattle in the early 90s. Not sure why but it stuck in my head. Maybe because it was so nice and relaxing and I was dead tired. The Way That You Love Me and Vibeology are good tunes too.

This is one of my favorites from Paula Abdul! Her dancing 💃 is amazing! She has a lot of talent! Great request and reaction from JJ! ❤😎👍🏽⭐️👏🔥🌹🌺🌸💗🩵💚🩷🧡💜
This the jam back in days bruh
Love this video and her dancing. David Fincher has such great visual style.

Classic love Abdul she haves bangers ❤💥🔥❤💥🔥
Her tap dancing was tough.
Video is tough, song is just so so to me.
This is her greatest hit.
It's a good one but I honestly prefer a couple others of her number ones.

This used to SLAP in DJ Hero!
I like “Promise of a Thin Me”, The In Living Color parody. 😂
I don't think I saw that one, it must've been one of the banned ones.
This is the only song I liked, by Paula Abdul. I admired her more for what she did for the Laker Girls.
It’s similar for me: I prefer choreographer Paula over singer and TV host Paula. Hands down.
This is just an ass-kicker of a hit song. I don't know how much of it is due to Paula.

No I agree she definitely has talent but I'm just not fully sold on her just yet. She almost reminds me of Janet Jackson tbh.
''Cold Hearted'' should be next bro'
Straight Up
Cold Hearted
My Love Is For Real
Those are my favs of hers.
Promise of a New Day, Vibeology, The Way That You love Me, Spellbound are jams too.

Yas. My love is for real. It's so good.
😂 her music was bad but very catchy. Can’t lie I jammed it though!
I’m surprised you didn’t say nothing about Arsenio Hall in the video
Does JJ even know who Arsenio is?
I think I recall being like "Is that Arsenio?" but didn't pay it too much mind.
Yup.
Her songs are forgettable
Yet here you are.... so I am sure you DO remember it.
@@JEBsDailyDose 😂😂😂😂😂
Great dancer, not a singer though
She can sing. It's all about the delivery.
@mitchellsouphasith3763 no she cannot sing.
J Cole sampled the chorus in his debut single Work Out
