I ran inside and threw that baby on and...You wanted the best! Hooked right then and there. I'm in my early 50s. Been drumming and touring in bands for years. Thanks KISS!!
As a die hard Peter fan, I seen a podcast were Gene said he actually loved Peter and Ace and was disappointed that they didn't practice at getting better, but he did say, that when Paul wrote Hard Luck woman, Paul tried to sing it in studio and Gene said, this sounds like a Peter song and reluctantly Paul agreed!!!! Lol
Thank God they let Peter sing Black Diamond, Hard Luck woman, Beth which was his anyway, Strange Ways, Nothing to lose, and Baby Driver!!! Team Peter and Ace

It's a fucking shame that Vini Poncia didn't want Peter on Dynasty or Unmasked(!) Def Leppard stood by their drummer for 4 fking years after he lost his arm at the pinnacle of their career after Pyromania. KISS had no such loyalty to Peter! Sad. Nor to Eric Carr

8:13 Ace Frehley was the final piece of the puzzle the THREE of you had been looking for only months prior to the recording of this album. He may not be the sole reason KISS was a success, but he was the one that knew what to do with a song like "She" (and others) and it had nothing to do with flute and brass in the solo!
You know, I'm willing to bet that when Peter would say "I'm leaving the band if......" he was probably saying it as a joke, and Paul and Gene probably knew it. But now, they no doubt use it as a pathetic attack .
The first KISS album that I bought. Some great songs on there, I always loved Watchin' You and Strange Ways. Listening to the two talk reassures the reasons I don't like them anymore.
So, now here comes Kiss's second studio album. It was much heavier and more raw than the first album. Unfortunately, it didn't fair much better than the first. But, as a diehard Kiss fan I really liked it. Kiss' sound at this point reminded me of a mixture between Black Sabbath and the Beatles, a heavy metal Beatles, if you will. My favorite song is on Hotter Than He'll, Parasite. There really isn't a bad song on the entire album. Because of the fact that they're four unique characters and their names, I always thought of them as heavy metal's version of the Beatles.
I agree kinda!!! The first album was amazing, it just didn't sell because everyone was interested in their live shows!!! Black Diamond, Strutter, Deuce, Cold Gin, 100 thousand years, and Firehouse!!! That was a very good album and underappreciated!!!

Distinctive sound and players, but you wouldn’t run a business with unreliable workers and you can’t have a band when the members don’t show up.
Kiss's most raw and riff heavy album, not nearly as campy as some of Kiss's other 70's releases. The production is on par with The New York Dolls, Iggy and the Stooges and similar proto punk albums from the time period. I still listen to Hotter than Hell, front to back, to this day, and it's def my favorite Kiss album from the classic line up.
