I know Dumbledore's sister lost control of her powers, but I never thought about her being an Obscure. Now that I think about it, It's very possible that she is an Obscure due to the brief description of her in the "Deathly Hallows" book. I would like to see if she really was. Most of all, I would want to see the Duel between Grindelwald and Dumbledore.
From the lore this movie set out, most obscurial arise from chronic abuse from early childhood. Ariana was a well cared for and loved normal young witch who was attacked by a group of muggle boys in her late childhood when they caught her performing magic. That left her broken and was the basis for her uncontrollable magical outbursts which might have been similar to an obscurus, but likely fundamentally different in nature. The only obscurial we have met so far was in full control of his mental faculties when not giving into his inner rage. Ariana on the other hand was permanently addled from what I would suspect was some rather serious brain trauma. I'd imagine that it was close enough though to leave a lasting impression on Grindelwald that would lead him to wanting to take advantage of an obscurial as a weapon he could wield once he learned of their existance and was reminded of the power shown in Ariana's outbursts.
I think Grindelwald would have the elder wand, as he stole it when he was a teenager, and that blast at the very beginning of the movie that wiped out like 5 guys, looked pretty damn powerful.
He Has it Alright But he wouldnt use it , Just because its powers are super powerful People might suspect something I guess but he diffidently has it in this timeline
Not to mention that he's impersonating Graves, so he's most likley using Graves wand. The people who knew Graves would obviously wonder why he's carrying a new wand etc.
He wouldn't use it though because that would be a dead give away of who he was, so he used Graves wand or some other stolen wand instead and because he is a powerful wizard he could do powerful magic
Grindelwald had obviously already stolen the elder wand in this timeline, as this timeline follows the exact same one as the rest of the books and movies did. He just doesn't use it in FB (although he might in the very opening scene of the film), he obviously uses Graves's wand in the film, because y'know, impersonating an auror in a country that registers and licenses all wands and using a wand that is obviously not that auror's wand would be stupid af.
I love the explanation of why Kowalski still had his memory. I would have gone for "love is the greatest force of all" Dumbledore crap, but this is a lot better.
Thats exactly what i was thinking because if he didn't have it then it would mean that albus n him already battled which couldn't be because he would've been in Azkaban already
If Grindelwald used polyjuice potion, Graves has to be alive. Witches or wizards cannot transform into the targeted person if the targeted person is dead. So I'm sure Graves is still alive and hidden somewhere.
I honestly thought using old memories to lure people into the pool thingy was a pretty nice thing to do. They would die without noticing it (at least that's what I got from this) and without being afraid. Wouldn't that be a good way to die?
I was actually thinking about this: Killing causes your soul to fracture. I think the luring the people into the death pool (practicly suicide) doesn't fracture the souls of the executors.
Ray Donovan yeah they are. That's how they lure the people in. In the movie it only changed to bad ones because newt and the swooping evil disturbed those ministry women. (that's what it says in the book)
They said it was the rainiest November(?) ever recorded. The potion rainwater would be collected and used as drinking water and part of the indoor plumbing for showers/etc. So it wasn't just a one-off thing. The potion was recycled around in the water system until it lost its potency.
I think Grindlewald isn't using the Elder Wand because it might give him away... and he doesn't need it, he is already super-powerful/talented. He is PROBABLY, almost certainly using the wand of the actual Graves... someone would eventually notice otherwise. He probably only resumed using the Elder wand for his "big-boy" moves, and to give him advantage in the duel with Dumbledore, whose abilities he had a healthy respect and wariness for.
i´d like to see how it works for it´s original master. we saw it wasn´t too special with voldemort. but with Grindelwald it´s different he will have it´s full power at his disposal. but it is rather logical to use graves wand after all he has its loyalty too so he can use it without giving him away. the elder wand might be recognised by some and a new wand would definitely spark interest Grindelwald couldn´t have. i mean we all notice if minor but permanent details about others around us change. like if somebody has a new jacket. we spot that immediately. if it´s just a new jacket nobody will wander. but a new wand? replacing literally a wizards source of power? he´d need a very god cover up for that.
When Credence was killed, and after Grindelwald is captured, a little wisp of what was Credence left the station, with a hiss as Newt watched. I'm sure that will have some future significance. Maybe the origin of Voldemort?
Voldemort was not some creation of magic, he was a regular wizard child shaped by his experiences and drive for ambition and later his missing soul pieces. I think it might have some relevance to the sequels but I doubt Voldemort is involved.
I often thought how the lead actor reminded me of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. Then I read Matt Smith was one of the actors they were thinking of getting to play the lead.
I think the interrogation, Graves' eagerness to sentence him and Tina to death as well as his powers in the subway pretty much told him that Graves isn't just an Auror, something more. Possibly someone who knows dark magic pretty well.
I didn't find his powers so superior though... Why didn't they think it was just Graves turned bad? I think it would have been better if Graves was just Grindelwald's helper, cause I personally would expect more from Grindelwald.
Can i ask if the real graves will return ( like percival come back like mad eye moody and the real one was locked away? ) i loved Collin Farells character he was amazing!
In an interview they said that it's "very unlikely" that he will return. However it's also been confirmed that Grindelwald used Polyjuice Potion which means that the real Graves is still alive. I really wish they would bring Graves back but I have little hope.
It has not been confirmed that Grindelwald used polyjuice portion, on the contrary, J.K. Rowling told that Grindelwald used an extremely complex spell to impersonate as Graves. In my opinion it has to mean, that the real Graves is dead, there is no reason whatsoever for Grindelwald to keep him around..
I agree, because McAvoy in a phenomenal actor BUT I think the parallels* between Magneto/ProfX and Grindelwald/Dumbledore are too similar for McAvoy to play young Dumbledore without it being weird. *Magneto and Grindelwald both want their kind out of the shadows and ruling as the top race *ProfX and Dumbledore both see how each world is beautiful and doesn't wish to keep the magic and non-magic world so strictly separated but not ruling as a top race.
sSkype_ productions I feel like as a viewer that is a fan of both series it would be weird and I would just see McAvoy as ProfX and not really seeing Dumbledore. Imagining what the layman viewer (someone maybe not an in-depth fan, just watches the movies) would think, I can imagine the comparisons would be endless and distract from the movie.
HOLY SHIT YES! I couldn't think of someone who could portray Dumbledoor well, but with Jame's portrayal of Xavier, I definitely think he could pull Dumbledoor off
There is a theory that because Grindewald was so good at transfiguration he didn't even need polyjuice potion in order to get Graves' identity hence why Newt was able to reveal him using "revelio." Also, the Salem witch trials didn't only target women. Men were targets as well. Some examples are John Proctor and Giles Corey. Hence why the Obscural was Credence and not the little girl.
I believe Kovaski remembered magic because of a combination of the kiss with her, that her umbrella interupted the potion/poison and most important the love between him and her. We know that love is the most powerful form of magic, Harry survived because of it so why souldn't Kovaski be able to reject the magic potion/poison with love?
That last breakdown about the good memories vs the bad memories just blew my mind. I have the DVD and seen the movie at least five times and never caught that part hahahahha. I'm amazed.
Wands are used for identification. If he's impersonating Graves and using an unknown wand, MACUSA would know something is up. It's more likely he's using Graves' own wand to cover his tracks
Remember at the very beginning when Grindelwald escapes and fucks all those wizards up with ease? I'm pretty sure he'd be using the elder wand there but when impersonating graves he wouldn't have been able to use it to risk revealing his identity
Kevin Anand it's hard to say, but Dumbledore said that he ''was a shade more skillful'' (i think thise are the words) and Grindelwald lost to Dumbledore even with the Elder Wand, and they were both at the same age I think Dumb was the greatest wizard of the century (and probably more than just a century), followed by Riddle and than Grindelwald and all 3 were, from wht we have read, leagues above any other wizards, even great ones like Moody, McGonaggall or Snape who are already well above the average
I feel Grindelwald is more skilled than Voldemort. He blocked every curse from the MCUSA Aurors, and there were 10+ aurors. We have never been shown Voldemort doing something that skilled
Josh Lyman well the books say that voldemort is more evil than Grindelwald ever was, but it doesn't say who's stronger. I'm curious who would win in a direct fight between Grindelwald and voldemort in their prime, no elder wand or horocruxes.
From the first mention of Grindlewald in a trailer, I knew it would be much more than a Newt film. The talk of three, then five films assured it. This will be the world wizarding war that the Potter books never delivered on, and it will culminate in the great Dumbledore v. Grindlewald duel... otherwise, why bother, right?? lol
***** Not insulted at all, and I am also enjoying the conversation very much. I will say, I would hope Harry and Hermione would have had the moral decency and righteousness NOT to have engaged in adultery against Ron, especially considering the fact that Harry was also his close friend, so it would have been a hideous double betrayal. But, getting away from uncomfortable triangles. Re: the Albus v Gellert duel, it's worse than the movies not mentioning why they dueled.... the damn films don't even mention THAT they dueled!! There is ZERO mention, in all that Elder wand, deathly hallows talk of the fact that Dumbledore and Grindlewald fought one another in one of the most legendary, epic duels in the history of that mythos, and that the outcome of the fight largely decided the outcome of the war. It was a jaw-droppingly massive omission, and I suspect they will try to set it right with these films.
***** I actually like the choice. Also, I'm not sure Grindlewald is entirely British. His great-aunt is, but that doesn't mean he is. He went to Durmstrang, not Hogwarts, so... international student calls for international star?? lol I just hope they choose an Albus Dumbledore who is on par with Depp in film credentials status. I'd really love to see Jude Law in the role, I think he fits it well. Also, from his interactions with Credance and the fact that he still seems to carry something for Albus, I suspect that whatever relationship is established with Grindlewald and Riddle may be an interesting one, with the former personally drawn to the latter, but with Riddle only interested in learning magical secrets he may not yet have discovered on his own.
Ariana was definitely an obscural,it is even mentioned in Hp7 that she accidently killed her mom. There is even a mention that albus and grindenwald were planning to travel the world with Ariana and Aberforth stopped them.Maybe Grindenwald was planning to use her as a weapon, this justifies his obsession with the obscural in fantastic beasts.
I like Newt hopefully he is going to be a main character above Dumbledore and Grindlewald, like he hasn't finished his book and the series is call Fantastic Beasts so no durrrrr he will be the main person...right!
Ultralord Nope, but he will still be a main focus. He published his book only a year after the events of the first film. JK Rowling, the director and producers have confirmed the film will take place many years apart, and span nearly 20 years (1926-1945. So it's unclear how Newt, Tina, Queenie and Jacob will factor in.
Thanks for your analysis of Fantastic Beasts! I came out of the movie not really knowing what to think and feeling somewhat let down by it, as I failed to understand what all the hype was about; but after hearing your explanations the whole story makes a lot more sense to me. (I can't believe they're planning to make 5 movies though. Like wow. Milking that money cow much?)
I love how u watched fantastic beasts pirated u can tell by how bad the quality is it's the exact same as the one every pirated website such as putlocker has
Actually having seen this in a lot of their videos, even ones for movies long since released, I suspect it might have something to do with copyright issues. They only show very low-def clips so their videos won't be taken down. At least that's the most logical explanation i can come up with.
I will throw so much money into this franchise once they start getting into Dumbledore's story with Grindewald. I can't wait to hear more about Leta as well. I'm a Slytherin/ Horned Serpent with a 12 inch Maple wand with a Dragon heart string core, and a Dapple Grey Stallion as my patronous. Great video, keep up the great work!
Kowalski's memory could also be preserved based on JK Rowling's favorite deus ex machina: love. It's repeatedly called a magic stronger than death. And death is certainly stronger than that highly experimental obliviating venom. So love being able to overcome the memory erasing venom seems more than plausible.
I wish they kept Colin Farrell as Grindelwald or bring the real Graves into the series because I'm not a big fan of Johnny Depp and he just feels off in this movie series especially I think
Slytherin life! My patronus is a hedgehog and my wand is made of English Oak Wood with a Unicorn Hair, surprisingly swishy flexibility, and sits at 14 1/2" in length.
The four main characters, Newt, Tina, Queenie, and Jacob will be in all 5 movies. According to J.K. Rowling in recent interviews. She likened them to the three main characters of Harry Potter. Harry, Ron, and Hermione. It is all exciting!
In the movie, Grindelwald would have the elder wand in his possession as he stole it when he was much younger as depictedted in Hallows Part 1, so I disagree when it is said that Grindelwald in this movie does not have the elder wand yet. Given that he impersonates himself as Graves and infiltrates the American Ministry, he would have elected to use Grave's wand in order not to raise suspicion about having the elder wand. I mean, although Graves in his own right is a powerful wizard, him suddenly revealing/showing that he is now using an all powerful wand in the elder wand would in itself be a bit iffy. Unlike Voldemort, Grindelwald is a much smarter wizard and thus uses Grave's wand in order to make his impersonation all the more convincing in the eyes of the other Ministry members.
Mike B yeah i think about that too. In the first scene of the movie when a group of wizards walking to a dark castle, grindelwald appeared and beaten all of those wizards with one wipe. I believe he used that elder wand, but when he disguise as graves he used graves's wand.
that last question, i have another take on that, the kiss he shares with quenie is my explanation, ''love is the most powerful magic'' as dumbledore might say
that was a great explanation and summery - awesome attention to detailof course , I may have approved because it follow's some of my own reasoning...either way looking forward to your other 'connections'.
ok but there's still one thing I don't get: why does Voldemort see grindelwald as a young boy stealing the elder wand when using legilimency against gregorovitch? If Grindelwald was a young boy when he stole the elder wand, why is he old and without the wand in the movie? So confusing. :-(
Because he couldn't be posing as Graves whilst using the Elder Wand - he was obviously using Graves' wand. That doesn't mean he doesn't already have it.
True. I was just thinking he would use it when fighting all of the aurors, because he probably has it with him, right? But yeah, didn't think about the fact that he had to use Graves' wand, lol... Thanks!!
I think this argument is invalid. Newt said something like 'I only use it to erase bad memories' if it didn't work on Jacob why would he forget everything else? I suppose it's more of the first point with the addition of how strong his feelings were.
Also bear in mind that love was always a huge issue in JKR's world of magic. So as Jacob felt real love for Queenie that might have also been relevant in him keeping some of his memory about her alive. Even if it's just strong enough for a deja vu kinda moment, it still lies deep within him.
Yeah plus if he was impersonating someone I bet he would rather use that other person´s wand. That would explain why he wasn´t very powerful when fighting against Tina for example. And I bet he would be able to kill Newt right away as well... why didn´t he? Instead he just sort of StarWarsEmperored him :/
Another thing in the movie that I noticed and thought odd (and was then explained when it turned out Graves was Grindelwald), was that Graves seemed to have a really incredible grasp on wandless magic and used it a lot throughout the film. I just put it down to the directors forgetting that wandless magic is incredibly difficult and only the most powerful witches and wizards can do it, but then it was revealed that he is Grindelwald, so yay! :D
Also, when Kowalski rubs his neck wound at the end, it's a Murtlap bite. Murtlap's dorsal anemone growth is known to lessen the effect of some spells when pickled. Maybe a little of that going on too?
Maybe but muggle-borns like Hermione has muggle parents but still the schools can "sense" their magical poential and send them letters. Don't really know how they work
Graves/Grindlewald didn't know he had magic, so I assume nobody knew. Harry used his magic a few times before his 11th birthday, maybe that's a requirement?
mrmvpvip Are we sure he didn't get some and his mother kept them from him? She is super against magic and guilts him into not using it. Other thought, maybe he did get one but denied it to please his mother? 🤷♀️
Amazing, detailed video. Seriously, I'm speechless. I can't believe how I didn't think of Ariana being an obscurial after seeing this movie. Seems so obvious now. Great observation.
Wait. The obscurious was only known to affect children under the age of ten. That was also something I didn't get in the movie itself. If the obscurious only effects kids under the age of 10 then wouldn't that mean that eleven years old would already be to late to learn to control your magic?
Kris Goetze I think it is the suppression of magic that causes the obscrural, however muggleborn wizards arent suppressing their magic because they don't know they have it. Therefore muggleborns would be immune to having a obscural. this is supported by Harry's upbringing as he was told magic was bad and evil however he himself was unaware he even had powers, so he didnt have a obscural.
I dont think harry was told that magic was 'bad and evil' rather he was told that it doesn't exist at all! So he didnt know he had magic or that such thing could even exist and so he couldnt supress it.
Great analysis. One thing I've never been clear on is the relationship between the wizard and the non-magical world. At times it is stressed that the non-magical world can't know about the wizarding world but then clearly some non-magical folks do know about it (such as the Dursely's). Also, I think the chair and pool in the execution room was a reference to back when women were drowned to test if they were witches.
Also to add to that, the books did talk about Harry causing things to just happen at times before he found out he was a wizard. So his magic was actually being used (if subconsciously) and not suppressed.
@Niall you must not have read the books. Harry uses magic plenty of times before the snake incident. He just didn't realize that was what he was doing. Whenever the Dursley's cut his hair, he grew it back overnight. He shrunk a horrible hand me down of Dudley's so he didnt' have to wear it. Also, one time he ended up on the roof while being chased by bullies.
But here are the 2 most important questions on everyones mind: could Dumbledore defeat an obscurist? And who will play young Dumbledore? I mean the PC culture of Hollywood would suggest it will be a black woman actress ... srlsy though, any ideas?
Yes the Dursleys tried to suppress the magic in him but there are plenty of times that Harry was able to use his magic and he was not not "psychologically" damaged by their actions. Unlike what happened to Ariana (tho it wasn't confirmed that she's an Obscurus) which was she was "actually attacked" by the Muggle children to the point that she snap and became extremely unstable like any other Obscurus out there.
personally I think it was more of a " we ALL die just a little " rather than " we all DIE just a little " like a threat that he was gonna get back at him
After I had seen Fantastic Beasts, I was re-reading the HP books and although I was in bed, sleepily reading "The Missing Mirror," I shot straight up, so excited to realize even more detail and connections between the two series and that Ariana was an Obscurus.
Grindelwald is mentioned in Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone, in a card played by ron, when they talk about nicholas flamel, grindelwald defeated Dumbledore in 1945. for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood and his work on alchemy with his partner Nicholas Flamel.
About the Elder Wand, I believe Grindelwald already has the wand but didn't use it to prevent his identity to be revealed while posing as Graves so he used Graves' own wand to keep up appearances.
Newt will certainly continue being the Main character for the future movies as his knowledge of creatures seems to play a important key to this new series plot.
I only saw it once but I think Newt said something that indicated that Jacob's reaction to the bite was not typical for a muggle, which is why he gets caught up in the whole adventure. I also want to know what happens to muggleborns and half bloods under the rule of MACUSA....
Mark HamillMan
maybe Grindelwald wanted the obscure of dumbeldore's sister and hence the fight happened in which she died
its not just Grindelwald and dumbledore i think abeforth was in the fight too

Mark Hamill it will happen in the last movie which takes place in 1945 when is when the Grindelwald and Dumbledore duel will happen
I think Grindelwald would have the elder wand, as he stole it when he was a teenager, and that blast at the very beginning of the movie that wiped out like 5 guys, looked pretty damn powerful.

He was a damn powerful wizard!!
If Newt doesn't appear in the other movies I'm gonna cry. I learned to love him over the course of one movie. He's too pure.
who thinks that Dumbledores sister is an obsucrus
I suppose it's possible.
bryanna cassidy I doubt it but yeah it is possible
That would explain how Grindelwald knew exactly how an Obscurial is
Me
Albus sister is an obcurus
Grindelwald had obviously already stolen the elder wand in this timeline, as this timeline follows the exact same one as the rest of the books and movies did. A Bond the time Line is Like 60 years before Harry Potter
I love the explanation of why Kowalski still had his memory. I would have gone for "love is the greatest force of all" Dumbledore crap, but this is a lot better.
No. He already had the elder wand, he got it when he was younger, and he is using Graves wand as a desguise.
I agree, but I still don't get why he can use Graves' wand without any problems :/
Andrea probably bcs he disarmed grave's wand and became a master of it so he can use it without any problem
Elsa Selviona wands don’t work like that, it’s only the elder wand that does.
Thats exactly what i was thinking because if he didn't have it then it would mean that albus n him already battled which couldn't be because he would've been in Azkaban already
This movie is set in 1926. Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s duel was in 1945. I’m pretty sure we are going to see the duel in the last movie.
If Grindelwald used polyjuice potion, Graves has to be alive. Witches or wizards cannot transform into the targeted person if the targeted person is dead. So I'm sure Graves is still alive and hidden somewhere.
Agree.. I'm sure, graves will come in the second movie.
Eunnie I agree.
Unless he took a lot of hair off of him and then killed him, but hopefully he didn't. I really loved Graves.
I honestly thought using old memories to lure people into the pool thingy was a pretty nice thing to do. They would die without noticing it (at least that's what I got from this) and without being afraid. Wouldn't that be a good way to die?
Nabiya Ri Additionally, it would be somehow less murder and more like suicide, so maybe the executers would feel less guilty?
I was actually thinking about this: Killing causes your soul to fracture. I think the luring the people into the death pool (practicly suicide) doesn't fracture the souls of the executors.
Ya......pretty good way to die provided those old memories are pleasant ones >__
Ray Donovan yeah they are. That's how they lure the people in. In the movie it only changed to bad ones because newt and the swooping evil disturbed those ministry women. (that's what it says in the book)
Nabiya Ri better than getting kissed by Dementors lol
At the end, i didnt understand how the normal ppl inside their house lost their memory, as the rain didnt touch them
Is this a plot hole?
yup
No because the water in their showers and in their sink would also make them lose their memories
thats a reach
They said it was the rainiest November(?) ever recorded. The potion rainwater would be collected and used as drinking water and part of the indoor plumbing for showers/etc. So it wasn't just a one-off thing. The potion was recycled around in the water system until it lost its potency.
When I watched it I was like "oh so...he just dyed his hair black?" I thought it was supposed to be obvious to the viewer that it was him
the haircut always stood out to me when I saw both of them
I think Grindlewald isn't using the Elder Wand because it might give him away... and he doesn't need it, he is already super-powerful/talented. He is PROBABLY, almost certainly using the wand of the actual Graves... someone would eventually notice otherwise. JAKEonTV Agreed. Our first glimpse of what the wand can do in the hands of a vicious super-mage.
i´d like to see how it works for it´s original master. we saw it wasn´t too special with voldemort. but with Grindelwald it´s different he will have it´s full power at his disposal. but it is rather logical to use graves wand after all he has its loyalty too so he can use it without giving him away. the elder wand might be recognised by some and a new wand would definitely spark interest Grindelwald couldn´t have. i mean we all notice if minor but permanent details about others around us change. like if somebody has a new jacket. we spot that immediately. if it´s just a new jacket nobody will wander. but a new wand? replacing literally a wizards source of power? he´d need a very god cover up for that.

Nope. Origins of Voldemort can be found in the last 2 Potter books.
Mace Moneta Origin of Dementors?
No, the dementors have been around a lot longer.

I often thought how the lead actor reminded me of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor. Then I read Matt Smith was one of the actors they were thinking of getting to play the lead.
OMG if that was canon that would have been amazig -I love eddie- but Matt is my favourite Doctor
Grindlewald must already have the Elder Wand unless he suddenly de-ages by about 30 years in order to steal it in the Deathly Hallows flashback.
The death scenes is surely a reference to the way death sentence is carried out in america.
pemanson exactly
I honestly didn't know other people were shocked that they were the same person
We were Shocked because We knew Graves is Grindwald but to transform him to Johnny Depp is a plot twist xD
Fawzy Nahwi Like "Wait, Jack Sparrow?"
Fawzy Nahwi it's not. They announced over a year ago that he was the villain
Dex Peck yeah the camera swap from gridlewald to graves gave it away for me
H Holmes haha
My question: How did Newt know that Graves wasn't real Graves?
The way he was acting in the subway
their conversation where Next and Tina were sentenced to death
I think the interrogation, Graves' eagerness to sentence him and Tina to death as well as his powers in the subway pretty much told him that Graves isn't just an Auror, something more. Possibly someone who knows dark magic pretty well.
I didn't find his powers so superior though... Why didn't they think it was just Graves turned bad? I think it would have been better if Graves was just Grindelwald's helper, cause I personally would expect more from Grindelwald.
Tajana Hevesiova one auror probably cant fight that many people off. Grindelwald wouldve won and made it out if newt didnt get him from behind

Hey what's up guys it's Johnny Depp here
And today its gonna be a double upload
I know I haven't made a video in a while
I'm sorry the office still hasn't been made yet
Big channel over a million subs
I can't remember his name but the same person who played young Charles Xavier would be good for a young dumbledor
James Avcoy I think
+bjehulk James McAvoy
I agree, because McAvoy in a phenomenal actor BUT I think the parallels* between Magneto/ProfX and Grindelwald/Dumbledore are too similar for McAvoy to play young Dumbledore without it being weird.
*Magneto and Grindelwald both want their kind out of the shadows and ruling as the top race
*ProfX and Dumbledore both see how each world is beautiful and doesn't wish to keep the magic and non-magic world so strictly separated but not ruling as a top race.
Emily cox- that's why it would be such a great role for James McAvoy
sSkype_ productions I feel like as a viewer that is a fan of both series it would be weird and I would just see McAvoy as ProfX and not really seeing Dumbledore. Imagining what the layman viewer (someone maybe not an in-depth fan, just watches the movies) would think, I can imagine the comparisons would be endless and distract from the movie.
James McAvoy = Young Dumbledore !!!
Fresh Cola Jared Harris
Fresh Cola Michael Fassbender ? 😂
HOLY SHIT YES! I couldn't think of someone who could portray Dumbledoor well, but with Jame's portrayal of Xavier, I definitely think he could pull Dumbledoor off
Jude Law confirmed
There is a theory that because Grindewald was so good at transfiguration he didn't even need polyjuice potion in order to get Graves' identity hence why Newt was able to reveal him using "revelio." Also, the Salem witch trials didn't only target women. Men were targets as well. Some examples are John Proctor and Giles Corey. Hence why the Obscural was Credence and not the little girl.
Exactly! He didn’t need it.
"So basically The Sisterhood of The Travelling Wand." HA! 😂
Btw it wasn't just women who were tried and killed in the Salem Witch Trials. Men were targeted and executed as well
yep! many men were executed as well.
Nobody Important yes, a few.
Genius! Done watching part 2 and you were on point.
No! I want Graves to b aive. Want to see more of Colin Farrell
That last breakdown about the good memories vs the bad memories just blew my mind. I have the DVD and seen the movie at least five times and never caught that part hahahahha. I'm amazed.
Wait if Grindlewald hadn't stolen the wand yet then why do we see a younger version of himself stealing it?
Richard Flint I assumed he has stolen and subsequently lost the wand to Dumbledore by now.
Bolly 21 if that's true then is their final battle about him trying to get the wand back off of dumbledore? So many questions
Wands are used for identification. If he's impersonating Graves and using an unknown wand, MACUSA would know something is up. It's more likely he's using Graves' own wand to cover his tracks
Bolly 21 he only lost his wand when he was defeated in 1945
Remember at the very beginning when Grindelwald escapes and fucks all those wizards up with ease? I'm pretty sure he'd be using the elder wand there but when impersonating graves he wouldn't have been able to use it to risk revealing his identity
I've watched a few recap, reviews and Easter Egg videos and this one by far was the best. Good job!
will be nice to see movies about the 3rd strongest wizard of the 20th century :D especially when he dukes it out with the greatest wizard
Josh Lyman since he was considered equal to dumbledore, he might have been stronger than voldemort at his peak.
Kevin Anand it's hard to say, but Dumbledore said that he ''was a shade more skillful'' (i think thise are the words) and Grindelwald lost to Dumbledore even with the Elder Wand, and they were both at the same age
I think Dumb was the greatest wizard of the century (and probably more than just a century), followed by Riddle and than Grindelwald and all 3 were, from wht we have read, leagues above any other wizards, even great ones like Moody, McGonaggall or Snape who are already well above the average
Voldemort is the greatest wizard, though.
You really put lots of work. I appreciate that!
Such a great vid! Nice job!
Good video!
Hey guys it's Johnny Depp
WaterMalone *steps out from behind tree*
WaterMalone yeahhhh
Wow, these explanations are really amazing. Especially the last one about the memories.
I'm also a Ravenclaw and Thunderbird, Grass snake patronus and Cedar Wood, phoenix core :0
Totally nailed it with the memory situation. It was close to my thoughts & conclusions but u nailed it. Kudos.
That is sad, well have to see
Ultralord Haha don't worry it'll be fine. Probably won't even be that noticeable.
Hopefully
Actually the producer ''confirmed'' that Newt will probably be playing a smaller role in the coming movies compared to the first one.
You actually answered every question I had, thank you!
It was supposed to be a trilogy but they changed it
I just think JK Rowling can't let go of that universe (which I'm not complaining about, she's inhabited by it)
DAAAAAAMN! I was waiting for a video like this, it explains everything I wanted. THIS VIDEO IS LIT!
I love how u watched fantastic beasts pirated u can tell by how bad the quality is it's the exact same as the one every pirated website such as putlocker has
doesn't mean he himself watched it pirated, just that some of the clips used are
iTzCeeJay movies are expensive
This is so perfect. Your theories are so on point!
I wish they kept Colin Farrell as Grindelwald or bring the real Graves into the series because I'm not a big fan of Johnny Depp and he just feels off in this movie series especially I think
I feel he was an inappropriate cast for this role.
Hannah Wisdom Worst casting in the series. So far
Hannah Wisdom It was the worst possible casting
Hannah Wisdom so true, so true.
Yeah same, is just odd to see him there, but we'll see how he does.
This was pretty amazing, thanks for making the video!
I was sorted into slytherin and wampus My patronus is an ocelot and my wand is made of blackthorn wood with dragon heart string core 💁
Saint Maybelline all your things match up perfectly 😂
Slytherin life!
My patronus is a hedgehog and my wand is made of English Oak Wood with a Unicorn Hair, surprisingly swishy flexibility, and sits at 14 1/2" in length.
Slytherin and Horned Snake, my patronus is a grass snake and my wand is of hawthorn with a dragon heartstring core, don't remember measures xD
Hufflepuff, pukwudgie, my patronus is a fox terrier and my wand is slightly bendy vine wood with a unicorn hair core, 11in
The four main characters, Newt, Tina, Queenie, and Jacob will be in all 5 movies.
Exactly. In the sequels he will no doubt use the elder wand again.
Mike B right he can't use it when diguised because it would reveal who he is he has to have hidden for when he escapes
Thanks for the video. I love Fantastic Beasts but there were tweeks I didn't understand.
I really wish they hadn't casted Johnny depp
that last question, i have another take on that, the kiss he shares with quenie is my explanation, ''love is the most powerful magic'' as dumbledore might say
In a Hufflepuff, wampus, pine marten patronus, with a yew wand with a Phoenix tailfeather core, slightly springy, 14.5 in.
Gizmoguy47 great
how do u know that? i wanna know!
awesome thanks
Reuben Blohm
Ravenclaw, Pukwudgie, Weasel patronus, Ebony wand with a Phoenix feather core, 10.75 inches, surprisingly swishy.
HawkEyed Magicienne Cool! Ravenclaws are awesome. I'm a Slytherin but still... Weasels are soooo cute! I have a Cat as my Patronus
that was a great explanation and summery - awesome attention to detailof course , I may have approved because it follow's some of my own reasoning...either way looking forward to your other 'connections'.
ok but there's still one thing I don't get: why does Voldemort see grindelwald as a young boy stealing the elder wand when using legilimency against gregorovitch? If Grindelwald was a young boy when he stole the elder wand, why is he old and without the wand in the movie? So confusing. :-(
Because he couldn't be posing as Graves whilst using the Elder Wand - he was obviously using Graves' wand. That doesn't mean he doesn't already have it.
True. I was just thinking he would use it when fighting all of the aurors, because he probably has it with him, right? But yeah, didn't think about the fact that he had to use Graves' wand, lol... Thanks!!
Lea Kallan wouldn't he have lost the wand to Dumbledore by now ? When they fight and kill Ariana?
Bolly 21 that fight was before he got the wand and he didn't really lose that fight, right? 🙈
qsqzqz okay, yeah, that's what i thought. had me confused. thanksss
Congrats on an effective video! Some insightful observations indeed!
but the youngest shaw brother also kinda digged when he saw that magic was real.. did he remember as well then?
probaby. and that's why jon voight and the youngest brother will appear in the sequels.
Even if it's just strong enough for a deja vu kinda moment, it still lies deep within him.
i also think that,, love what make him still kinda remember queenie.
I am so glad that there is going 2 be more movies of fantastic beasts & where to find them
What about the other two after that?
but grindlewald was young when he stole the elder wand so he must have it hidden somewhere?
Yeah plus if he was impersonating someone I bet he would rather use that other person´s wand. That would explain why he wasn´t very powerful when fighting against Tina for example. And I bet he would be able to kill Newt right away as well... why didn´t he? Instead he just sort of StarWarsEmperored him :/
dont know why he didnt use the elder wand for that fight to prove how powerful he was and then apparate away
Sean OBrien remember dumbledore had a fight with grindlewald and took the elder wand
He sneezes danger...
Also, when Kowalski rubs his neck wound at the end, it's a Murtlap bite. Murtlap's dorsal anemone growth is known to lessen the effect of some spells when pickled. Maybe a little of that going on too?
Why didn't Credence receive a letter from wizarding school? He survived past the age of eleven.
Because they didn't know about him or because its thought he had no powers.
Maybe but muggle-borns like Hermione has muggle parents but still the schools can "sense" their magical poential and send them letters. Don't really know how they work
Graves/Grindlewald didn't know he had magic, so I assume nobody knew. Harry used his magic a few times before his 11th birthday, maybe that's a requirement?
mrmvpvip
Are we sure he didn't get some and his mother kept them from him? She is super against magic and guilts him into not using it. Other thought, maybe he did get one but denied it to please his mother? 🤷♀️
if he did get it he probably tore it up so his ma would not find out hes a wizard and wipe him or worse - take his phone away
Vickey Mecrive Exactly what Ive been thinking. There would be way more muggleborn obscurials if they all die by the age of 10
Kris Goetze I think it is the suppression of magic that causes the obscrural, however muggleborn wizards arent suppressing their magic because they don't know they have it. Therefore muggleborns would be immune to having a obscural. this is supported by Harry's upbringing as he was told magic was bad and evil however he himself was unaware he even had powers, so he didnt have a obscural.
Anthony Jones Haha yeah I thought of that like 5 seconds after posting my comment 🙈
lol remember when harry ended up on the roof of a school and thought it was normal 'there must have been a very strong wind that day..'
Couldn't understand a word of those film clips. Please subtitle in future.
your videos are great!!!
they are really clarifying!!
So if Obscurus' are from wizards suppressing their magic, why doesn't Harry become one before the zoo scene in Philosopher's Stone?
Because he's not suppressing his magic. He doesn't even realise he has magic.
This assessment is impressively detailed and well thought out.
westwoooooooorld, come on!
roch lavoie yeah!
Please do it!!
So many little things i didn't notice.. Colin did such a great job i hope his character isn't dead
But here are the 2 most important questions on everyones mind: could Dumbledore defeat an obscurist? And who will play young Dumbledore? I mean the PC culture of Hollywood would suggest it will be a black woman actress ... srlsy though, any ideas?
Josh Lyman Viola davis I guess
Theres the rumor of Jared Harris, the son of Richard Harris who played Dumbledore in the first 2 movies. It would be awesome.
MCAvoy ??
Zeptus The Dragon the actor needs to be roughlt deeps age
I really liked your theory about Jacob keeping his good memories of the wizarding world. It's a great explaination and a lovely detail.
Why didn't harry become and Obsucrial after being suppressed by the dursleys for so long
His magic wasn't being repressed, mostly because Harry didn't know he was magic. He knew he was different, but never tried to hold back his magic.
Brendan Ryan jk is brilliant enough to think that..so no questions asked
Im sure someone has already written the fanfiction for that.
Yes the Dursleys tried to suppress the magic in him but there are plenty of times that Harry was able to use his magic and he was not not "psychologically" damaged by their actions. Unlike what happened to Ariana (tho it wasn't confirmed that she's an Obscurus) which was she was "actually attacked" by the Muggle children to the point that she snap and became extremely unstable like any other Obscurus out there.
personally I think it was more of a " we ALL die just a little " rather than " we all DIE just a little " like a threat that he was gonna get back at him
i prefferred colin farrel instead of depp aa grindlewald
After I had seen Fantastic Beasts, I was re-reading the HP books and although I was in bed, sleepily reading "The Missing Mirror," I shot straight up, so excited to realize even more detail and connections between the two series and that Ariana was an Obscurus.
I'm in Slytherin and Wampus
Leander Pfeiffer
pottermore :)
***** im ravenclaw and Thunderbird and my patronus is a MOLE *laughemoji*
Same.
Leander Pfeiffer EXACT SAME
slytherin and thunderbird
very nice video... I thoroughly enjoyed watching it!
Please stop saying "Obscurius"-there's no i!!
Selah Hamilton well obscurial has an I but obscurus doesn't
In German there is
TheOhhblind True
honestly, this movie had a really beautiful ending and I feel like only Fan Fogler could have done it justice.
the quality is HDTS, right? godamn pirate lmao
This is the first vid of your's I have seen and it rocks awesome
spoilier alert! they caught cpt. Jack Sparrow
Great vid! Enjoyed that.
Haha that was fun! Great job with this :)
You rock Erik.
I rewatched this since I loved the FB2 trailer
I only saw it once but I think Newt said something that indicated that Jacob's reaction to the bite was not typical for a muggle, which is why he gets caught up in the whole adventure.
I also want to know what happens to muggleborns and half bloods under the rule of MACUSA....
It's MCUSA, and muggleborns and half bloods are probably treated normally
Mary-Patricia Foy Sorry I thought It was an acronym, which wouldn't have an "a"
It is! Magical Congress of the United States of America :)
Mrs. Regina Prince no that's my bad! I didn't realize they'd do that when switching languages for an Acronym, although it makes perfect sense. :)
Half bloods would be treated badly if found at all cause Wizards and No-Majs arent supposed to mingle. Donno about Muggleborns(No-Majborn)
Completely changed my perspective on this movie. Thanks
We need a fantastic beasts update especially since they’re recasting Johnny depp
