I’m 61 years old snd for the past few years have finally gotten tired of “classic rock” and now totally in love with 90s grunge/alt. This is definitely one of the best songs to come out of that era.
This song was released in 1996 when you were 34 years old. Dont be making excuses for being fucking lame when you shoulda been cool 😂 you only have yourself to blame.
I am 39 about to be forty next April I love rage against the machine I got to see them live once I love a lot of the 90s grunge but I thought it supposed to listen to Fleetwood Mac or b.b. King but if you throw some Stone Temple pilots on I'm definitely going to turn it up or Pearl jam smashing pumpkins are still jamming out to anything from the era
"Now what we don't know keeps the contracts alive and movin they don't gotta burn the books they just remove em... while arms warehouses fill as quick as the cell rally round your family pocket full of shells".......... this is some of the best most truthful lyrics ive ever heard
I remember listening to this on vinyl... The record I owned for this song had a chip in it so it always made this small 'tick' at 2:44. Even now when I listen to this song, I imagine the tick is still there.
That’s how I am when I listen to the songs that I would download on limewire way back when and they would have random dj interruptions or crap like that and I still hear that from listening to those songs so many times when I was younger.
Well Well Well...I have to agree. It is insane to know how many don't recognize certain ones do to their one discontent in life. Their very own greed and jealousy. Their ego and inferiority to intentionally attempt to overrate themselves and underate those that have rose above and pushed through to the top in ways they never could without their privilege being their sole support. They keep trying though. Amazing that it sometimes takes half the effort in the right direction to rise above than the effort put into being someone else. There are those trying to pretend and then there is the real thing. I agree, he is underrated. Like a best kept secret.
I love Rage Against The Machine. This and People of the Sun are probably my two favorite songs by them. They're such an amazing group with great meanings behind their songs. One of my favorite bands by far.
xXCandyZombieXx my situation was kinda similar, my dad played this song in front of me when I was 9, and I thought it said,"You ain't got no family. With a pocket full of shells!" I was so confused until I saw the lyrics lol
Man, this song never gets old. It is still just as relevant 26 years after de la Rocha penned it and he and the boys put it to tunes, especially with the homeless epidemic, the war in Ukraine etc..
I gold stared that shit on expert fam. 15 at the time lmao 22 now. That was the game and the competition within my friends was epic. I could 5 star any normal playlist song on expert. Best I think I did on ttfaf was 4 stars I'm pretty sure though lol. #noonegivesafuckbutwhatever

rage against the machine. they never like what the government implement. they just express by the way they sing... never forget this band until now i still love listening to their song.
+Starchild3215 when i bumped this song years back i threw it on and my friend thought it was "he barely has a family and a pocket full of shells" running makes sense, idk about barely lol
Ironic, wonder if Steve knew this band stood for the destruction of everything he believes in as a US citizen? Austin proudly served in the US Army. Bulls On Parade is an anti US armed forces message. Stone Cold is an outspoken patriot, he started a line of USA Flag T-Shirts and flies the flag at home. Rage preached anarchy, a revolt against and overthrowing the US Government...they've desecrated the American flag at their shows as well as attempted to fly the flag uopside down at taping of TV performances...which was stopped by the show producers. Steve opposed Occupy Wall Street and came out against saying "occupiers go home", Rage calls for the overthrowing of of wall street. I guess Steve thought the riff sounded kick-ass but failed to listen to or understand the words or the band's hatred of the US Governemnt, Police, and US Military.
25 years ago ( yeah, I know, I'm old ) I had reason for this tune to be a part of my music library. And now, even though the rage is at someone else, it is just as bad, or even now worse, to have it there in my life again. Regrettably. But nothing else even comes close to the reason I have adopted it again now. Sometimes, in life, you need to adapt quickly, even if you know you've been on that road, and you know you have to go there again. And even then, there's no guarantee you will be the one left standing when the dust settles. But if you fight with honour, and you know you're right, and you give it your best shot, then you've no shame in losing. In life you lose sometime. How you deal with it is what matters. Anger over what makes you fight is OK if it is properly managed. Blind anger, where both your eyes are closed and you lash out at anything and everything you hear moving around, is bad. There are no winners, only losers. Because you will automatically hit someone trying to help you. And in closing, to Kevin and Paul, I am still the world''s oldest metal head. But the metal is a lot softer than it was 25 years ago.
oh I wish: When the powers call for war The people kneel and pray When the powers scream and threaten The people went home and said: Go Away! Then the powers said: no jobs, no food, no homes And the people lived on what God had given them for free, they lived and shared responsibly The powers sucked their thumbs and pouted...
But it's not about that. It's letting you know how violence is glorified in our society, and how America budgets towards having a well paid military over food and homes. "We really around the family, with a pocket full of shells"
@@darkforceguitar Yes, but there’s more to the story. Those big military budgets keep a lot of people employed, that’s giving them food shelter and clothing. There’s certainly a debate to be had about whether the money could be better spent elsewhere to achieve those aims, but I find it disingenuous when people pretend that the money just disappears into thin air.
They used several lol. Bodies by Drowning Pool was one. Pretty sure they used metal in general to torture them. They even used Biebers Baby to torture them for some time. But that song is torture to any man.
