I think you guys have really found a niche with doing quality paint jobs that dont require weeks of time and advanced skills, I really like these tutorials
Well that’s the aim, and we’re pleased you understand our mantra, hopefully it won’t put folks off from painting too much.
@@thepaintingphase Ive painted a blood angels army, necrons, admech, silver templars and just bought some death guard, but I would never consider getting mortarion because its such a daunting challenge - but watching this makes me think if I plan and approach it right I could get a really good result
Agree with this 1000%
These tutorials are great, dont get me wrong, but id argue that Midwinter Minis beat them to this niche.
Now Peachy and Geoff need to do a 30 minute Primarch speed paint battle!
Thank you as always for showing that a quality paint job doesn't require massive amounts of effort. I used to take way too long to paint minis, trying to get everything perfect, but I find my paint jobs are better than ever now that I go a bit fast and loose with it, and don't sweat every little thing.
More than anything, I appreciate that you are using affordable (by the standards of the hobby) methods.
I feel like peachy is my speed painting spirit animal. I've used his techniques for my boarding action walls and though I followed the painting coach's guide to paint Angron, I used my new pots of Black Legion by Peach's suggestion. I can't believe I've never used this stuff before. I have a lot of control with it and have even done some detail work. This is a CONTRAST paint! How does it have this much control?!
Quick n dirty, looks good for the time spent. Good show as always Peachy
I'd love to see what happens when you spend an inordinate amount of time on a mini
Something about watching Peachy whilst painting, just makes me all happy inside... Whilst painting up my World Eaters, to make others insides.... be on the outside 😂
Poetry
Cap'n Peach genuinely loves to hobby and it's infectious.
Great Video! I appreciate how easy Peachy breaks down painting minis
Very cool. Makes me want to go find a primarch to paint. Awesome as always sir, thanks for the guide!
Fantastic work as always steve
Amazing work, as always ❤
Peachy really channelling at that ‘dad playing with his 5 year old’ energy for the outro 😂
Hahaha! Yep that’s pretty much how we interact lol
Looks awesome
Amazing guys! Thank you for making this challenging paint job so approachable!
You’re most welcome Brendan 😍👍
" with member areas...don't worry, that's not a Slaanesh thing " brilliant writing right there 😂.
Oh yeah, the actual video content was good too by the way!
Very fun and informative video!
Angron being a fan of sewing is now accepted headcannon
Amazing guide, loved how it turned out. Also it blows my mind how fast a painter peachy is😮
Awesome work chaps!
Really good video, surprisingly the background music actually made the watching experience more fun
I love the colour of the armor on Angron! It's a nice mix of bronze, green and white as well as a nice change of pace from the usual totally bronze colours I see people paint his armor as.
Really nice results for such a short amount of time spent on a model. Its ended up looking like a standard any gamer would be proud of.
I absolutely love your approach to great paintjobs with minimal effort!
Thank you very much Rasmus! 😍😍😍
I love the painting videos! Best out there!
Well thank you kindly 😍😍😍
Great way to put the sponsor in there....so entertaining, I normally just skip square space and other types of yt sponsor bits but this had me watch it all
Yaaay!
Another banger guys. Thanks for the video!
Hope to see you tackle the Lion when it's released.
Bonus points for an excellent ad segment 🤣
What a treat
Amazing video(s). Let's get the painting phase to 100 k !
Aww cheers! That would be a life goal 😍👍
Honestly first time I've sat through an Ad in a video. Hilarious!!
"Not this time, my little Ronnie....."
"Please don't call me that......"
Not sure which is better the angel/demon idea or the squarespace ad with little Ronnie
I think you guys will soon be on a par with Squire with your sponsorship bits that i actually want to watch 👍
We're trying to find the middle ground with funny watchable ads but also keepiythe length down 👇 a little way to go but hopefully we'll get there.
SquareSpace add was the best!
It's bonkers that you managed that in six hours. It looks great
If You say "auf Wiedersehen", I'll just have to say: "vielen Dank" (many thanks ;)) for this brilliant tutorial.
Aww Danke!
Peachy’s little shoulder angel skit should be the premise for your next squarespace ad, just sayin’ 👀
Fantastic video as always guys! I'm especially enjoying the creative storytelling with the sponsors, I actually went and visited SquareSpace after this 🤣
I notice you don't glue Angron onto the base here, which makes sense, but how did you "hold" him when you're doing the prime and and then dusting with red to make sure you're not smudging those initial layers off?
I can see how after that it's not too bad as the model's big enough to hold the sides while you wash specific areas etc.
He mostly just fitted in place, the undercoat kinda helped add a bit more substance to the fittings, which gave a snugger fit.
*cough* loved the advert insert bit, that was nicely done and a lot more watchable than many such things
oh yes and the bit about dropping paint on some winged thing worked well too
😂👍 cheers Dale
Ronnie looks spectacular! Any chance of you giving Magnus the same treatment? He's a massively intimidating 'mini' that you can't do a half arsed job on because he lords it up over the rest of your army.
I have plans to do all the plastic primarchs 👍👍👍
I enjoy these almost as much as I enjoy you lot chatting crap with other RUclipsrs and that’s a lot
I see what you did there with the thumbnail after having Pete on…. Well done 👏
Cheeky reference to our lord and saviour x
You are quite right. Downton Abbey makes me think about taking skulls for the skull god!
Also like how the next vid after Pete comes on has a Pete style thumbnail 🤣Nice nod
Ha! Yeh we wanted to pay homage to his genius and try it cos it’s a fun way to do a thumbnail
Have Louise on the Painting Phase!!!
I finish my Angron and then "The Steves" release a video on how to do it faster... GJ guys
Can you do one for Mortarion? Love the tutorials
Damn. I had Antiques Roadshow on. No wonder it took me longer to paint mine
So, this is what a video looks like when everyone working on it over achieves! 🎉
I f**king love this advert
😂😂😂👍
What was the violin tune u used in your custodies video
Would you paint Kharn the same way as you did the berzerkers? 😅
@thepaintingphase at the beginning youve sprayed angron black and then red, or i missunderstand something. Thanks a lot for your amazing tutorial 😊
Yes that’s right, I spray him entirely black, then whilst it’s wet I dust over with red, this will ‘hopefully’ leave lots of black in the recesses, but basecoating most of the raised details with a red to dark red fade.
Hope that makes sense
You make it look so easy. I feel like it would take ma week just to do the red skin 😅
Red and black Undercoat spray was my biggest ally on this paint job
Auf Wiedersehen!
Targor Rageshade? What's the colour for that? Is it a Nuln oil variant? Edit: Thanks for the extra steps part Peachy - I'm spending a long old time with my Farsight mini (I finally got a Boarding Patrol from GW) and some of those bits are going to be really handy.
Brilliant, glad to have helped, targor Rageshade is like a really dark reddish brown shade, I really like it’s tone, especially for golds and reds
@@thepaintingphase Cheers lad! I might get some as a wash for the Farsight armour.
Will we now be seeing Louise on one of the fabled ex-GW employees spill the beans podcasts?
Auf Wiedersehen ❤ Sausages for the win and blood for the blood god
For verdigris I really like the Green Stuff World Dark Green Dust pigment
Did you prime it in sub assembly or did you just build it all the way up and then prime black?
Pretty much all built in one go, I just didn’t glue him to his base, it was a snug fit, so I could take him off and do stuff underneath if needed.
Never going to call Angron anything else but Little Ronnie ever again...
What was the red that was used over the black primer while it was still wet? Thanks
Vampire red from AK but any red will do the job really. Whatever you like!
The German was nice for starters and really got a look into the real mental state 😁
Morty next!
News I can use.
Can't wait for peachys take on the lion model. I might hold off till her has a go.
I tried a classic DA but Pete showed us the slapchop and now it is the way for my DA!
Now do this for Mortarion pls!!
FOR THE ALGORITHM !!!!
what brushes are you using???
Army painter, mostly their dry brushes, regiment and character brush. Oh and an old battered citadel brush for the texture paint.
It's important to emphasize the hoof effect
One never knows when a hoof might appear in ones painting, important to emphasise them when they appear 🎩
I find it hard to paint a space marine in 6 hours , I cry, I cry
B FOR THE B GOD!
Recommendation for casual painters: take your time. A model this size costs way too much for you to just "smash it ASAP". Just accept that painting takes time, and enjoy the process.
That’s a great observation, but not everyone has the time or skill, which is why we do stuff like this, to not put them off and actually use the thing they’ve spent lots of cash on, instead of festering on a shelf Intimidating them from afar.
Cheers
Started watching Downton Abbey as a joke one Friday night. By the following Friday we'd smashed through the entire thing 😬
Hahaha! Same, I started watching it when Matthew was in the trenches, I was like ooh this looks fun, been hooked ever since lol
Lil Ronny is his rapping name.
LITTLE RONNY
Downtown Abbey is _the shit_.
☝️💯☝️
THIS
SONG NAME?
Which one?
Love the Downton reference. Angron is definitely the favorite primarch of Mrs. O'Brien and Thomas. Whereas Mr. Carson is more of a Guilliman. Who do you think would like the Lion?
Probably Tom 🤷♂️
@@thepaintingphase or maybe Mr. Bates? The quiet dangerous type.
The relationship drama of Downton has nothing on the Horus Heresy let's be real!
😂 true facts
How dare you! But it’s fine, those are obviously blood angels devastators helmets.
🤭🤭🤭
PLEASE DO A DEATHWATCH TUTORIAL AT SOME POINT
A members area that’s not Slanneshi… what’s the point!
Wow. All of a sudden, painting a Primarch is a lot less intimidating.
I love the idea that whenever he isn't out murdering, Ronnie runs a sewing blog and probably makes personalised loincloths for his berzerkers
Hahaha! Ronnie’s gotta pay them bills somehow lol
That Pete has clearly had a bad influence on your thumbnails
*Steve
Haha! Yeah I thought I recognised that style Pat I mean Steven went with lol
Celestine and angron both say Peachy stop pegging people😂
Hahaha! Yeah that’s probably more accurate
I can do it faster. I'd just let sit in a bucket of paint for around a minute of 3 and then let it dry and look! I did it in around an hour! I'm so fast
You are fast, fast and inspirational 💪
Dead Ultramarines. How original.
Only an ultramarine player would say that 😝
Peachy should quit this job and do what he was born to do, voice-overs 😅
Advert far too long and copying Pete the Wargamer's thumbnails? Neither are a positive move. Peachy's Tips still good though
New to ads, we're learning as we go, a very valid criticism. Cheeky reference to Pete as we had him on the show recently, not one we'll repeat regularly (the thumbnail, not Pete!) - pat
