I wouldn't rely on the government inflation figures. Any coming from them is bound to be a lie. I believe inflation is running at 10%. But your right stacking is long term strategy.

I was checking out Chards just yesterday for full sovereign dates and the only one Chards had with a date I hadn't got was an 1875, well over £600. It's amazing that even after having over xx shield back sovereigns there are so many dates that are difficult to source.

For Christmas you need a watchmakers pry tool (removes backs of timepieces) instead of a sharp knife. Less damage and less chance of injury!
As for sovereign gold, I only stack 20 Francs from France, Italy and Switzerland
