At about 13.00 when you mention Perth Mint, the bars were not sub-standard, and did contain 99.99% gold, but the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) specifications demand that the non-gold component - that is, 0.01% of the bar or 100 parts per million (ppm) - contains no more than 50 ppm silver. So in effect, they were too good, rather like The Royal Mint reverting to gold sovereigns having a silver content, making them yellow instead of red. I think I may need to cover this in a future video! 😎
Trust but verify. After ping testing, magnet testing, weighing, and measuring MANY silver Eagles, I sure wish I had a Verifier Pro Investor model machine. lol Thank you for a very important video on a very important topic.
I buy my silver only from reputable online dealers and they come in sealed US Mint tubes and I don't open them (or test them). I buy gold from these same dealers (and test their gold) so they've earned my trust on the silver. ALL of my gold gets tested with my Sigma (Investor model). My gold comes from coin shows, online dealers, multiple LCS, etc... and every piece is tested and so far never been scammed. Thanks for the video and thanks for reminding us to never get too lazy to verify our metals.
Most sealed tubes have been upended to check for any minting errors. As they don't want to hassle of having a tube returned because of just one error coin.
I have just purchased my first ever gold investment from chards. I know you have done collaboration videos with them before, and they are an official partner with royal mint. I purchased some 2025 UK bullion gold coins. Would you say I still need to get them tested? I wasn’t thinking I needed to until I watched this video. I don’t have the machine and don’t know where to go to get them tested (I’m a beginner)
Excellent watch as always visited a coin fair today in Yorkshire, they was a american man on a table purchased a 1887 usa morgan 1dollar of him great condition nice tone to edge side of coin
GOD.. Atkinsons!!! Have bought all my gold Brtannias and Sovereigns for many years from them and Chards, would not buy from anyone else, am shocked to hear this. Hopefully it's because it wasn't a regular Britannia or Sovereign..Can't afford a Sigma but always weigh my purchases and do ping tests with app verification😮😮
CH000884 too poor for golld I prefer silver. Can the silver ring test be fooled? If a burglar gets hold of silver he would need to accommodate a lot more weight for the value.

Never had a fake in 17 years of collecting. Just been cautious. Classic sovereign scales are a good start.
Would be nice to have one of those, but very expensive 😢

Wow I'm surprised do they not check second coins as standard?
If a dealer is selling fake metals, regardless if they were aware, they should be out of business shortly thereafter. No excuse.
It was a fake coin, not fake metal - just for context. It was basically miss labeled on their selling page rather than they send me fake gold.
Great vid at what amount of gold and silver buying per month us it worth getting a verifier ...they are expensive

We can't get the British Royal Mint to supply their silver Britannias in US Mint tubes! 😎
@@lawrencechard5914😂 That mint needs to get their act together.

You will be just fine 🙂

Not the first time ive seen this by this firm seen silver n soverign fakes😢
What is the general spread between buying and selling sovereigns?
Excellent watch as always visited a coin fair today in Yorkshire, they was a american man on a table purchased a 1887 usa morgan 1dollar of him great condition nice tone to edge side of coin
I sold one of those 5g gold xmass bars on Ebay about 2 months ago 😏
Surely it's not worth while to tungsten a 1/10th ounce gold brittania? and the thinner the coin, that harder to coat it in gold too?
Just started watching the video and I hope a coin with my realms symbol on it isn't a baddun' 😲

Would be interested to hear in the best technique without using a machine.
hold the coin in your left hand, stand on your right leg. Get your cock out...................if you get hard it's fake. How do you not know this?
Ping test is a very good one
CH000884,,, Atkinson's!!! WTF!!! What was there explanation?
David Morgan on Lode?? Try to sell those "silver" tokens....

As soon as you criticized an MP I knew it wouldn't be a labour/conservative. Hope Trump ends the Ukraine war

The one coin with the legs 🦵 on it looks exactly like the soul of sicily we call the Sicania the where my father is from 😊
It is the Isle of Man Coat of Arms (...or legs maybe).
I use chards or atkinsons
