I did this with my Dad as a Kid in a Cessna 150 on floats, I miss Him!
I love you mama mama love you baby eeeee
I really loved Alaska when I lived there... not Anchorage... but the rest of AK. If had not been so expensive, if I had an opportunity to get into aviation some how (Only had my Private Pilot cert), or some how landed a great paying job, I would have stayed. It was always my dream to move to Talkeetna... after watching the series "Flying Wild Alaska" and seeing Don Lee. I wished I could have made it work, but I doubt I can convince my family to move there again under no circumstances.
Awesome video Josh! Im only 17 and starting flight training with around 3 flying hours right now in a Aeroprakt Foxbat . I love your channel as it feeds my curiosity for my interest and passion for aviation :)
I love flying! I am a student at CTFTC in South Africa, Western Cape. I am past my 10 hours of flight training and enjoying every minuite of it!
I am also doing patern work and it is as if something just clicked and i feel as if the craft became an extension of my body and flying is natural.
Welcome to the skies everyone!
Really enjoyed this one. I flew seaplanes in the oilfields of Louisiana back in the 80's; C-180 & C-185, making sales and service calls. A seaplane rating there was nearly double the hours, all of the extra work on docking. No lodges there, you are docking into tugboats, barges and the worse case high-barges (higher than your wing). Cross-wind docking into a high barge solo is a real art and expensive if you make a mistake. Take-offs and landings in the Atchafalaya basin can be real interesting, especially in the dogs days of summer; no wind; in between the trees and the air density can get high with the heat and humidity. Still, it was a fun way to make a living; enjoyed the show!
What a fantastic and super blessed life you live my friend, God Bless you always and may you always experience blue skies and soft landings! Cheers!
Awesome series, as always, Josh. Thanks for the hard work! I just started my new career that is going to finance my PPL and aviation obsession. Back to school at age 34 wasn't easy. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation!
Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Put in the overtime to make your dreams a reality. 👏🏼 Thanks so much for the support!
Docking the airplane was def the hardest part for me lol. Couldn't dock it to save my life. Or the airplanes lol
Flying on floats is the best! Awesome video as usual, thanks for sharing.
You make it look so easy. Awesome series.
Such a great video. I'll be heading out to Alaska quite soon for my seaplane rating and hoping to film it similarly to you, but I know it can't even come close to the quality!
I love that place - Talkeetna has a bit of my heart. I will return.
You are right this is paradise couldn't be a more beautiful place to fly. Will be looking forward for part 4
Hi from the UK. Superb video. I love that you are still learning more cool stuff. Thanks for posting.
excellent
Incredible films / travelogues! You are becoming a master…
You shouldve brought your fishing rod, Josh! :)
That looks sooo difficult! Not so much the water flying but flying down among the trees.
Hey Josh I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos and when you go Live and I'm also a student Pilot so I love your ideas you teach me alot of stuff you have my full support man take care
Josh, Great job on the video. Hopefully I can do this some day myself. My wife and I really love Alaska and even hope to move there some day when I get closer to retirement. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Josh your story telling and video quality just keeps getting better. What month was this?
Amazing views!
Thanks for these great videos !!!
Amazing video Josh, as always! I am glad you’ve enjoyed your flying @ Alaska. Wonderful scenery to take that float plane instructions. I wish I could visit that are one day.
Awesome set of videos! My parents have already promised to take me to Alaska Floats & Seaplanes for my 18th birthday in 2026 for float training!
Josh, what the heck happened to the sun and fun and key west videos? I used to show those to all my friends and it seems they are gone now.
Did your Gopro have any effect on the mag compass?
And no mosquitoes? I've heard the summertime mosquitoes in Alaska can be horrendous...even worse than Michigan. Sounds like an amazing place to be if there are no mosquitoes!
I think those who fly conventional gear planes would make natural seaplane pilots. Same attitude and everything. Taildragger amphibious flying boats have some advantages over tricycle flying boats, too. The tail wheel keeps the tail itself from slamming coming off a steep ramp drop-off and taxiing up to a beach over unseen sharp rocks, it may be better to lead with the larger mains rather than make a nose wheel sacrificial.
that float plane instructor has some eyebrows!
Landing almost sounds like the Cutlass II that I've been flying. Retractable gear on a C172 changes they way that landings are done (at least it did for me).
where'd you get your pants bro? sick af ngl
I keep seeing a constant with the pizzas 🍕 in this channel, now I'm hungry
I will probably never get beyond my C172 land-based operations, but still enjoyed this. Cheers.
Is this a dumb question but how do you do a walk around inspection of the aircraft?
Great video!! Its a great refresher being a seaplane pilot as well. Alaska is beautiful!! Maybe I should go there one day. Quite a hike all the way from Germany.
Just not a fan of THOSE Pipers. One of the ugliest aircraft ever and the condition they’re in… Sorry! 😉
When is the best season (flying and mosquito’s wise)?
Never thought that a still water could be that challenging to land.
J??? You suck! 😝😝 LoL. Armchair, use to sim, had no idea about floats! Really alot to understand. 👍🏻 Had no idea. Thanks! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎 Get back with flying sparks. Y'all are awesome together. The personal between you and C and Sparks is really cooL.
Im looking to do a discovery ride in the DFW area, have any recommendations?
Hill county... Alaska style 😎
🔥
Is there anyway I can fly with you? I am 14 I am love aviation.
I don't have a lot of money so I don't have much accessibility to fly.
I live in San Jose California close to SJC but I can come to you if need be.
Let me know if your interested in helping achieve my dreams.
I love you so much
Thanks
Gil
your wings could fall off.
Huh?
