Vehicle Virgins Great Review I think that Mercedes E500 is pretty cool and I think it's awesome that Porsche helped make it and I can't wait to see your POV Drive Review
Funny to see that the power window thing is the same as my 300d.. I assumed that the 500e would have dual power windows. Doesn't make me feel like a pleb anymore lol
Looks good on the AMG Monoblock wheels, much better than the OEM wheels. These cars were brutal when they were new. Now they sound good but don't blow you away with performance like a newer E55 AMG or E63 AMG would. They are monster tire spinning, sliding sideways, hulks in a suit. They are classy, powerful "midsize" luxury sedans that businessman would have to arrive in style and be able to drive spiritedly while also having room for his wife and kids on the weekend trips up to the lake. Still impressive cars but if you are used to driving more modern V8 Mercedes you won't understand the full experience of these cars. Even better than this car is the AMG Hammer. Those were bought and sent to AMG for an engine swap and additional upgrades like wheels, spoiler, ground effects, seats. I have driven an AMG Hammer sedan from the late 80's (same W124 body style as this car) and it was very raunchy with the power delivery however still docile enough if driven lightly that it could blend in with other cars on the road and only those who knew what it was, would understand the potential. Sure 380 HP doesn't seem like much these days but back in the 80's and 90's when the Corvette only made 250 HP a 4 door Mercedes AMG Hammer was out of this world. To make 380 HP in a muscle car required heads, cam, headers, big carb, it would be loud and shaking and the Mercedes did it with AC, a smooth idle, and luxurious leather seats and woodgrain. Any V8 W124 sedan with AMG Monoblock wheels is a star in my book. I just love these older Bruno Sacco designed Mercedes cars. Even the inline 6-cylinder 300E is nice car that was good looking, and well built. Tint the windows and throw a set of 18" wheels on it and it's a stunner.
I could've guessed the common misconception of the 500E being co developed by Porsche would be repeated again. Porsche had no hand at all in developing this car nor are there any Porsche parts on it. They merely installed the Drivetrain in the chassis, whilst the paint, interior final inspection was done at Mercedes .
You are most definitely wrong. Porsche cut the whole firewall out and built and installed a custom firewall specifically to fit the M119 V8. That engine will not fit in a W124 car that wasn't modified by Porsche. I own an M119 car and an M103 car and can confirm, they are very different.
This is one of my dream cars, but i would prefer the 93b facelifted model, the hood looks better on those and it is also featured in the first french Taxi movie wich i thought was really cool
These view amounts don’t make sense.. maybe start a new/secondary RUclips channel to see how it would do? Maybe the algorithm and RUclips notification squad will like it a bit more
He’d thrown away everything he had for an attempt at quick clout. The textbook example of hanging out with the wrong people. The numbers on this channel will never be the same
Massive difference . Much less power/ torque, much taller final drive, weaker differential, smaller brakes, softer taller suspension and standard track width .
Mad props these classic Mercedes masterpieces 🫡
The alcantara headliner is aftermarket. The factory material was some other fabric.
Correct, it was vinyl

It does have 4x power windows. But it has one manual mirror.

i would have this car but how i like it over any car that exist
Great job
the big mirror is for reversing, so you can see the kerb. that is all it is for
This car is amazing. But this is also proof why BMW is so prestigious. They made all cars of these classes on their own. That's just special.
Did they, (do they), make EVERYTHING (that is BMW) ??
I HEARD THEY INITIALLY FARMED OUT SOME X series vehicles.
This car is so good
The "snow chain" button deactivates the ASR traction control.
Cool car
It's not like the mirrors have anything to do with the 500e. Every W124 car for a decade had those mirrors.
Sold mine a decade back… big regrets. I miss that car. 🥺

Hand assembled by Porsche.
Get a 400e just about as good and mych more affordable

$40-50,000? I'll take a CTS-V any day over this relic.
That's comparing apples to cheesy plastic oranges.
that relic would probably still outlive your ugly ass hoodmobile 10 times
