Shri Puranadara Dasa Gurubhyo namaha..!. He was Naradamsha sambhootaru. He was a rich merchant but God made him to renounce the worldly materialistic things and took him in his fold. He composed 4, 75, 000 songs but due to no writing or printing, only few thousands songs are available to this day. God gave darshan to him. Shri purandara Dasa's biography was made into a movie acted by legendary Dr Rajkumar in Kannada language "Navakoti Narayana" which is with subtitles in RUclips.
Actually, around 40% of the audience would be from outside Trivandrum and outside India too. (every year.) They specifically plan and go to Trivandrum just to attend Varma ji's annual "Informal Concert" live! This usually happens during the weekend after January 14th. It could be January 16th or 17th in 2021, I guess. You can plan your trip already.
You and your music loving friends, might enjoy this wonderful playlist of amazing explanations by Varma ji which I have compiled here 😊 ruclips.net/p/PL9-AxgfSQwNaq97FLtJ4ZoGfsgP3Nx1YI
The moon, smiling magically, Summer breeze, caressing, Mama possum wide eyed, My horse in absolute bliss, Padmadasa, your song, magical, Takes me across the ocean- ------ - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Stillness of the night, silent, Pierced by the loud horn, Of the ship, set sailing, To a faraway land, yonder. Will you take me, far beyond, To, land of my beloved Lord? Can my white horse come, too? I know he wouldn’t be able to, My mate, Jeff, listens in awe, I go on rambling, non-stop, My words rival that of Anantha, Singing the praise of my Lord. Lakshadeepam, luminant lights, Lighting up the twilight sky, Are the tiny twinkling stars, Waltzing In enigmatic ecstasy? The full moon all aglow, Merrily enjoying the music, I am envious, Oh! moon, You can see far, on either, Sides of the ocean, mighty Wish, I too could, see so!
Together shall we build a ship, Of huon pine, prince of timbers? For me and Jeff and all animals Like Noah of yore, in the bible To set sail to the land, glorious, Marvelous Travancore, yonder,
In another seven years’ time,-- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If you see a white waltzing horse, Grazing on the grass, smiling, Beside the temple of my Lord, A roo, wombat and koala too. They all did come in our ship, From far across the ocean, To see my beloved Lord.
Padmanabhaswamy, To what extent I go, To catch a glimpse, Of You and Your dasa? Suddenly- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My horse turned, smiled in wonder I am jolted from my dream!!! Boy, did he hear my thoughts? Thank you very much for all the marvelous songs, Thampuran. Thank you so much for the delightful accompaniment- Sri B.Harikumar, Dr.S.Karthick, Sri S.R.Vinu and Sri Govindaprasad.
Varma ji was very unwell that day and felt that he couldn't give his best, though to be honest, I absolutely loved the entire concert! I have been trying to convince him to let me upload the rest too and I would be the first to wish for the whole world to enjoy this concert too. I hope he will agree sooner or later.

On the same lighter note we used to sing " ammana kareyadiro gumma neenu" which meant gumma was milder than amma.
Nice comment......
