Just wonderful as people just don't value travel and flying but I do having not being able to return to my home in Turkey for seven years or enjoy the lovely island of Kastellorizo. Recovering from cancer I am working hard to regain my strength and mobility to make the journey to this island, with the sun on my face and warm breeze.
For what I know, Olympic Air flies to Kastelorizo from Rhodes, no more options. I am not sure if there is a small operator that goes in there too, but I believe it doesn´t.
Το αεροσκάφος είναι της Olympic Air.. Αποδείξεις: 1. Το ηχητικό μήνυμα της Αεροσυνοδού 2. Η Ολυμπιακή είχε αεροσκάφη τύπου ATR παλαιού τύπου και όχι νέου τύπου όπως είναι αυτό. και 3. Απ το σχεδιασμό της διάχυσης των χρωμάτων επάνω στο αεροσκάφος. :-)
It's a municipal airport designed only for domestic flights; no large planes fit there. so ye, you're gonna have to go to Rhodes first and then fly to Kastellorizo from there. Rhode's got an international airport and u'll easily find a way to go especially in summer. Look it up. I suggest that you visit Rhodes primarily and just go to Kstellorizo for a day. It's a beautiful island but it's really small and there's not so much 4 you to see, you'll get bored
@lukacsattila The runway (aerodrome in Greek) has been refurbished, with new black asphaltic concrete surface. I wish they could operate to/from other locations such as Cyprus , Israel. In oder to attract more tourists. I think Dash8-100 is capable for longet distance flights.
Maximum DH8A endurance is slightly more than 4.5 hours and at Kastelorizo it is not possible to refuel. It is required more fuel that the one that´s is burned in flight, like alternate, contingency... DH8A cruising speed is not very high, around 200 Kts.
Does this flight only come from Rhodes??? I've been thinking about going to this island... any suggestions or recommendations??? Peter in Los Angeles california USA

Katy only commended OA's pilots for knowing Greece's terrain; he/she never said that "only Greeks could do that". There's no "patriotic bravado" in his/her comment whatsoever. Either Google Translate failed you miserably or you really wanted to find a reason to bash Greece. Greeks are aware of their country's problems, to which you dont have the answers. As for accidents: despite those fatal events that you found from your Google search, OA has one of the world's best safety records.
δε λες καλα που υπαρχει και αυτο? ξερεις ποσο μικρο ειναι το νησι? κανονικα δε θα ειχε καν αεροδρομιο. ο μονος λογος που το εχει ειναι επειδη ειναι πολυ απομακρισμενο απο την κυριως ελλαδα. αν ηταν κοντινοτερα μονο πτησεις με υδροπλανα θα ειχε.
